A list of puns related to "Microbat"
Just a quick reminder that microbats LOVE closed pool umbrellas for roosting (dark, safe from predators, dry). If you are opening your pool umbrella for the first time this season, open it very carefully and check for them. There could be a maternity colony this time of year, which is pretty devastating if they get disturbed. If you find that they have taken up residence, but there are no babies, just open the umbrella at sundown and they should fly off of their own accord, close it and make it completely inaccessible for a few days (they love to get in through the top flap). Requisite warning: Do not touch/handle bats.
If you see babies, call your local bat rescue organisation for help/advice. All of these links provide more information as well.
Also, any other injured or orphaned (non-bat) animals can be called into Wildcare.
I hope you have enjoyed my TED talk, please enjoy a succulent Chinese meal this evening!
Wondering if anyone has noticed bats, or increased bat activity, around their pond. Iβve been reading up on pest management for my back yard and these little fellas look just the ticket.
This evening I popped outside to see the moon and Venus looking particularly speccy in the early evening sky. To my great excitement, I also saw two microbats flying over our two-storey house.
I live in southern Australia and the weather has just warmed up these past two weeks or so. I was hoping I'd see batties out of torpor soon.
When I say I saw them, what I actually saw was two dark smudges against the dusk, like anti-shooting stars across the sky. Definitely bats, not birds.
We didn't know microbats were visiting our garden until last year. We are right in the middle of a small country town, but it's pretty quiet at night and we have plenty of insects for them to feed on.
We try to make our garden native animal friendly (no pets, no lawnmowers, no bright lights). We have added three bat boxes and I am hoping to get some tenants soon.
Wife's parent's house roof has a ton of microbats living under the corner roof tiles. Any idea how to go about getting rid of them?
