A list of puns related to "Lunenburg"
Hello,
My parents (who are not from Canada) recently bought me an acre of land as a "welcome to adulthood and congrats on becoming a Canadian Permanent Resident" kind of gift. (Sorry if this sounds pretentious... I honestly do not mean to be!)
Anyway, as I don't really have a lot of money right now and my salary is pretty average, I'm thinking of working on this land step by step.
Is this feasible? I'm overwhelmed and don't know what to do. I just know I want to get it ready to be built on.
I don't know where to start or who to call - if I want it cleared and have a driveway put in, can I just call a company who clears lots and they will handle everything? Or are there permits I have to apply for first before I can even contact whoever I need to contact?
I know this will be a learning process. Please be kind. Thank you so much.
Advice & resources will be much appreciated.
EDIT: I don't want to clear the land entirely! I love trees but also want the lot to be of use...
Iβm a travel nurse and I have a two day layover in Halifax. I have never been, and Iβm staying right down town. I intend to do a longer visit at some point. Iβll be there Oct 5th. My priority is to see a lot of history and great sights like the Citadel and museums. Iβm not interested in clubbing, but I definitely like a good restaurant and have had many recommended.
Is it worth going spending 7 hours of a day to go to Peggyβs Cove and Lunenburg, and if I do will I see the Bluenose II(On Oct 6th)? Or is my time better spent doing something else with the day? I also donβt have a full two days because I have to stop to donate blood one day(I canβt do that back home, so I gotta).
Looking for hidden gem (or even well known) suggestions for brunch in the Lunenburg / Mahone Bay / Chester area of the South Shore. Thanks in advance!
I've got a relative coming to NS from TO for the weekend.
They are so sick of their own apartment that they just want me to "drive them around" for a day on Saturday. I thought going to Lunenburg, and to Blue Rocks, would be a nice trip. I usually just jump on the highway and get off at the Lunenburg or Mahone Bay exit, but I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for an "old road" and/or some nice stops along the way?
What kinds of stops? Short scenic walks, snacks, coffee, drinks/beers, beaches - that sort of thing.
I've already failed at finding white pudding for them, so I'm hoping to make this drive a nice one!
Hit me up!
Edit: excellent suggestions all, thank you.
I have been doing some research and have found some fantastic breweries, restaurants, cafes and beaches. I guess Iβm kind of looking for something aside from eating and drinking haha. Maybe a museum or a tour or something unique to the area within, say, an hour of Lunenburg? Would also love to hear of any shops in the area that are a must-see.
I just lost my Apple Watch in the parking lot in Lunenburg across from the Grand Banker. We parked in a slot on the side closer to the sea and near the entrance parking gate.
I know this is a Halifax sub (not Lunenburg) and that my chances are slim to get my watch back but I am taking my chances and wondering if there is anyone there at the moment who could take a look for me if it is still there?
Are there other venues where I can post this request as well?
Already marked it as lost in Find My app.
Thank you!
Hello Lovely People! I grew up in NS (Baddeck and Pictou County) but left after high school, and now some 25 years later I am considering moving back with my Japanese wife and our two small kids.
We currently live in Japan and are looking to relocate to a nice town in NS, ideally within an hour or so of Halifax. We will be working remotely, and somewhere in the valley like Kentville or Wolfville seem like good candidates, and also somewhere like Lunenburg or Mahone Bay.
The kid from Baddeck in me leans towards Lunenburg, and ideally we might have a boat of some sort. But I am curious to what extent shops and restaurants in that area shut down during the winter. My guess is that there would be little change in the winter offerings in the valley, which might score some points for that option in the event that a lot of Lunenburg is closed for many months of the year.
More generally, I am very eager to hear any insights people might have on raising kids in either of these areas, or anything else that I might want to know! Thanks in advance for your help!
Edit: Nova Scotia living up to its reputation for friendly and helpful people -- so many thoughtful posts here, including an invitation for a playdate!
This would explain much of what has been found as opposed to building elaborate works to bury a treasure that nobody can ever dig up again.
Edit: it seems more plausible that oak island was a way point for troops and ships that patrolled the coastline. Either that or Samuel ball was an avid button collector...
