A list of puns related to "Los Angeles County"
It is with great sorrow that the LACoFD share the unexpected passing of Fire Fighter Jonathan Flagler. At approximately 2:49 a.m. this morning, January 6, 2022, Fire Fighter Flagler sustained fatal injuries while engaged in firefighting operations at a single-family residence in Rancho Palos Verdes.
Fire Fighter Flagler was a 21-year veteran of the fire service having served 19 years with the Vernon Fire Department before transitioning to the LACoFD in October of 2020. He is survived by his wife and two sons.
The LACoFD, along with the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors and Los Angeles County Firefighters, IAFF Local 1014, extend our deepest condolences and prayers to the Flagler family along with our Department family who are mourning this heartbreaking loss.
βI join with the Flagler and LACoFD families in mourning the sudden passing of Fire Fighter Flagler," said Interim Fire Chief Anthony C. Marrone. βIt is always a tragedy to lose one of our own in the line of duty. Fire Fighter Flagler made the ultimate sacrifice; his bravery and courage will never be forgotten.β
A solemn procession from the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center to the Coronerβs Office is currently underway.
To ensure the proper care and support of the family and friends of Fire Fighter Flagler during this extremely difficult time, Chief Marrone has activated our Department's Memorial Management and Peer Support Teams.
The LACoFD and Flagler families greatly appreciate the outpouring of heartfelt messages, condolences, and support. Information on the celebration of life for Fire Fighter Flagler will be shared at a later time.
RIP FF Flagler ππΌππ
I'm not with LA County Fire, but I did grow up in LA Co, and worked for McCormick Ambulance running EMS calls with LA Co Fire before becoming a Fire Fighter myself in a different state, so even though I've never met FF Flagler, still hits hard and a bit close to home. May he RIP πͺ
Good Afternoon Everyone,
I stumbled upon this case about a year ago on the Unidentified Wiki and have just been enveloped in it ever since. I fell down every possible rabbit hole and continue to come up empty. Since I'm studying journalism, I wanted to put what I've learned to use. I will also include a Google doc that has every source that I've viewed or cited in this write-up.
I want to give a huge heads up, as this case is rather intense and graphic, so viewer discretion is advised.
Thank you for your time, and I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Tragedy
In a man-made crater in the middle of a dam, the area was devoid of any activity. It seemed to be a landscape that was completely untouched by the hustle-and-bustle of nearby Los Angeles city life. At least, after the workday of construction crews.
That was, until a thunderous boom rendered the area a crime sceneβone that would be, almost, completely forgotten for at least seventy years. This is the case of the Los Angeles County Does.
Before diving in, it should be emphasized that this case has little-to-no information on it; and save for some basic descriptions of the scene and the victims, as well as a slew of speculation, it is shrouded in mystery.
Discovery
The response time to this explosion was estimated to have been minutes, and the origin of said explosion was found to be a stick of dynamite. Whether this stick had been lit or if it was a dud is unknown. Regardless of how the stick combusted, the blast left two young people dead.
The first victim, a female, was estimated to be between the ages of thirteen to nineteen years of age and wasβupon a glanceβlikely of petite stature. However, her height and weight were unable to be determined, as the explosion had left her mangled and in pieces; only her face was left in recognizable condition. Her male companion was far less lucky, as only the bottom half of him remained. Because of this, no physical details could be approximated (except for the pants and shoes he was wearing). This led investigators to believe that he was the one closest to or even holding the dynamite stick when it went off.
Odd Occurrences
Just a (surprising) note, cases of people dying from dynamite explosions were unusually common back in the early 1900s.
Specifically, a user of the Genealogy forums found two instances of young children dying while playing with idle sticks of the explosive. A February 1924 printing of the Ellensburg

Happy new year fellow vets, I was wondering if any of you have dealt with any remarkable VSOβs in the Southern California area? Iβd even be willing to drive down to San Diego. Enjoy your day, thank you in advance!
LA County is requiring employers in LA County to start providing their employees who work indoors and in close contact w/ the public or other workers with medical grade disposable masks or N95 masks, and make sure the employees wear them. I expect UCLA will have to comply with this Public Health Order, so if you work on campus, this would affect you. Cloth mask over a medical grade disposable mask is allowed, but the employer needs to provide the medical grade ones.
(USC is requiring everyone - students, faculty, staff, visitors - to wear the medical grade or N95 masks).

Hi! Iβm looking for recommendations for doctors/dermatologists that specialize in hair loss. It could be a different field or type of doctor, but in any case, Iβm looking for anyone in the Los Angeles / Orange County area. Iβve tried doing research but canβt find much online to point me in the right direction. My dermatologist gave me 100mg of spironolactone without running any tests or asking sufficient questions (or giving me a diagnosis, I left the office overwhelmed to the point where I didnβt even think to ask questions) and I just need better and more proper care. If you donβt know anyone in the area, what do you think I should search to find the right doctor? Thanks so much.
Hello!
I was driving a rental car out of LA on a work trip a few months ago and mistakenly interpreted my colleague's suggestion of "let's get in the HOV lane now, traffic is slowing down" to mean "NOW" and not "at the next available appropriate entry point." Unfortunately for me a highway patrol officer was not far behind us when this happened, and pulled me over within seconds of entering the lane prematurely.
The officer seemed to feel bad about writing the ticket, perhaps knowing that the fine was really hefty... once we explained to him what happened and told a little bit of our sob story -- we live out of state where HOV lane rules are different, plus we weren't even supposed to be in LA at all, had only been rerouted there after numerous flight cancellations into our actual destination, had to pay extra to change the rental car pickup point after the canceled flights, etc. -- but he wrote the ticket before allowing us to explain anything, possibly because we were driving a rental car and the lack of standard registration and insurance documents in my name might have seemed like a red flag at first when he pulled us over. Overall he was pretty nice though and sympathetic to what happened. We were not speeding and didn't cut anyone off when entering the lane, we just did so before the solid lines had become dashed lines. He did not state what the penalty was when he wrote the ticket, and said I had to call the phone number on the ticket to get more information.
The deadline to take action is not until mid-March, so I just decided to follow up on it today, and was horrified to learn that what seems like a fairly minor offense was worth nearly $500 and a point on my license. Here are photos of the ticket and the summary from the LA county court website.
I have a relative who is a police officer in a different state who was fairly confident that if I just "called and talked to a human" that I would be able to reduce the penalty. He also seemed to think that I could do this without necessarily appearing in court, perhaps just over the phone with a clerk or something of the sort. The phone number on the ticket itself routes to what is essentially a payment collection service and is a voice menu that provides the same options that are present on the website: pay $490 now, pay $490 on a payment plan, request an extension, or request a date for an arraignment.
Given the options, I was initi
