A list of puns related to "Somerset"
He wasnβt even joking, he said you put cider on beer lists in pubs therefore itβs beer, and because it involves fermentation itβs a beer. π€¦πΌββοΈ
I need a negative test to return to work since I quarantined for 10 days after having covid. Everywhere is booked for the next few days and Iβm not sure what to do. Anyone know of a place in Somerset county thatβs doing rapid tests?
Edit: Just wanna say thanks to everyone with their suggestions, I was able to find a place thatβll test me in the morning
So for context Iβm (f)27 and from Australia, Iβve been living in the UK for almost 3 years. The first 2 were in London and besides some work friends I really struggled to meet or become part of a proper friendship group. My work friends were the kind of people that Iβd have lunch with but mainly because we all had lunch at the same time they werenβt people I hung out with on the weekend or confided in. I now live in Somerset and work in Devon neither my work or home are considered cities but small towns/villages. So making friends is next level hard. Iβm a super active person and am part of a gym, but i go at 5am and with Covid everyone tries to stay pretty spread out, so not really the kind of environment to make friends. My other hobbies are things I do on my own, playing video games, reading, baking or gardening. Iβm also shy and introverted but I really miss having a solid group of friends like I did when I lived in Melbourne- I met them through uni. Can someone please tell me what is the secret to making friends as an adult and with british people?
Hello,
I need some advice. Iβm fresh out of college and I have a job lined up in the city. I was looking to live in nj because of the apartment prices. Even NJ prices are just as crazy. I found a place in Somerset I really like and the rent is 2200 for a 1 bedroom without including utilities. A little bit expensive but the place is very nice and I believe Iβll be getting a bang for my buck. I need to to have a car in the city because I will be driving around to different construction zones. Iβm going to be making 95k before taxes.
Is this doable, or will I be miserable?
I appreciate any advice.
I'll be moving to near Bristol soon to a new office with my job, with work being just off jct 20 of the M5. From September I need to find my own accommodation and living in Cardiff could be a possibility as my gf has 1/maybe 2 years left at Cardiff uni (earliest she can graduate is 2023 but 2024 looking more likely). As living together would be nice, both Bristol and Cardiff are options, however, her driving to Cardiff uni from Bristol is possibly a little trickier than me driving there from Cardiff, plus rent/house prices are a lot better in Cardiff. Would it make sense for us to live there and for me to commute 90 miles or so a day potentially 5 days a week?
TLDR: job is near Bristol, gf in Cardiff, do your best to convince me (not?) to live in Cardiff and commute.
Hello,
Seriously looking into moving to Crewkerne/Chard area and wanted to get some local thoughts on the areas. Iβm in my mid-late-20s (no kids) and like the idea of a 30 minute drive to the coast and being by some nice green space for walks/runs.
I like going out and all that other fun stuff, but donβt mind travelling further afield for all of that. A nice pub or two would do for the regular weekend. Iβve previously lived in London, Oxford and Bristol, so expect South Somerset to be a lot quieter, but wouldnβt mind if there were still parts of the community I could get involved with and nice people to meet.
Would love to hear some thoughts/comparison between Crewkerne and Chard?
I want to buy beeswax candles from local beekeepers. I also want to taste honeycombs!
Itβs for a vision board, and itβs not homework itβs a personal project!
EDIT: See below -- it was a road-rage shooting.
Anyone able to find out what happened? 3pm Going east, we passed 6 cop cars on the side of the road, between somerset and midway in 76, going west. 2 minutes later 3 more cop cars came, followed by another 2-3 and further followed by another group....
Can't find anything on the news, but whatever it was, it required well more than 10 state troopers...
Hey, I'm just writing to help women stay safe because this might be the same creep that's been harassing women in Centretown lately.
My gf and I are both F29 and we were leaving Chinatown heading East on Somerset W around 9:00pm last night and we noticed a guy had been following us for a couple of blocks. We decided to cross to the other side of Somerset and creepy dude kept walking matching our pace and eventually crossed on our side. We paused and pretended to look at a restaurant menu in the window, and he passed us. We waited a bit and kept going, and 2 minutes later he was back (I guess he hid between alleys or something). At that point we no longer felt safe so we found a bar where people were smoking and hung out there for a bit, creepy dude was still watching us from the other side of the street. We called a Lyft and got home safe, but I'm still shaken by this experience.
Here's the guy's description:
This is pure speculation, but the guy might've been homophobic (gf and I were holding hands as we walked)...
Anyways, please stay safe ladies xox
