A list of puns related to "Jabez"
14 year old Jabez Spann went missing in Sarasota, Florida on September 4, 2017. Jabez was last seen at a candlelight vigil on 22nd Street and Palmadelia Avenue which is two blocks from his home. A witness later saw Jabez with two other boys around 1 a.m. that night. Jabez was reported missing a few hours later when he failed to attend school the next day.
Jabez lived with his maternal grandmother and his mother, Tawanna Spann, became worried when she learned he did not attend school as Jabez was a teaching assistant and a star football player and "his career and football was what he really thrived off." Tawanna believes someone associated with the murder of a local Sarasota man, 31 year old Travis Combs, harmed Jabez.
According to police reports, three men chased Travis into a field next to his home just as Jabez was leaving a friend's house next to Travis's home. Jabez saw the men shoot Travis and fleeing from the scene. The police report quotes Jabez as saying βOh my God. Yβall shot him,β as the suspects ran away on foot and in separate cars. A week later, Jabez went missing on Labor day after attending a candlelight vigil for Travis.
There was another witness to Travis's murder who has since recanted his testimony. The witness, Reginald Parker, saw Jabez at the scene and heard him yell at the shooters. Another witness, a local Sarasota pastor, Kelvin Lumpkin, who was willing to share some information about Travis's murder later invoked pastoral privilege and refused to answer investigators' questions. The pastor was represented by Sarasota Mayor Sherri Freeland Eddie who wrote a letter to authorities stating "every communication that my client received regarding this matter occurred within the confines of his position as a pastor, and occurred in a confidential manner...accordingly, all communications and information is privileged from disclosure pursuant to the clergy communications privilege." Pastor Lumpkin stated that he had no information about Jabez either.
In February 2019, a man working on a fence line found human remains in a rural part of Manatee County (west of I-75) and called 911. The remains were tested by a forensic dental expert and determined to be Jabez's. Authorities say the area was not one that Jabez was known to frequent and was outside of their preliminary search area. The cause of death has never been released and it is unknown how long Jabez's remains were at the location and if they were moved there from somewhere else.

... keep reading on reddit β‘I'm hoping someone can offer some clarity here - I have a relative who married a Jabez Price in 1860. However, a fairly distinctive name like that is proving hard to track down, though I keep finding a James Price mentioned who would fit the same criteria. Doing my research however, it seems like a Jabez is a distinct name in its own right, not a variant of James. Has anybody else encountered this before?
Iβve been trying to track down the English side of my family, and hit an early wall. My 2nd great grandfather Jabez Pigotts (born between 1858-1862) death records are no where to be found. Iβve found birth records for many of his children, death records for one of the children and his wife (Cecilia Eleanor Pigott (born Perry)) and his marriage index. All were registered in the St Giles district in England. I last find him in the 1891 English census (https://www.ancestry.com/sharing/21432142?h=1c777c) and his last daughters birth record in 1896. By the 1901 census his wife is listed as widowed, so my assumption is he died between 1895 and 1901. She then passed in 1904, which spread their children all over the place. I do have her death record which did not help me find his.
Iβve checked the GRO death indexes and found nothing. Anywhere else I should try? Even opening up the years that I search for his death I donβt come up with anything.
Oh and his career in every single document is a hairdresser in case that helps at all.
The remains of 14-year-old Jabez Spann β last seen Sept. 4, 2017 β were found along a fence line in rural Manatee County, Sarasota Deputy Police Chief Patrick Robinson said Tuesday night at a hastily called press conference.
Minutes before the announcement was made, his mother, Tawana Spann, posted a phrase on her Facebook account: βYes my baby has been found.β
The case remains unsolved, according to Robinson, saying it remains an βactive and ongoing investigation.β More information can be found here:

Y'all remember that shit?
Most of my family's traditional names are very plain (lots of John's, and similarly working class British names) but I stumbled upon an ancestor called Jabez today. Really interesting name. Seems a little out of the ordinary even today. Anyone seen this one before?
I also have no clue how to say it
Jay-bez?
Ya-bez?
Jah-bez?
J-bez?
"This week we discuss the terribly sad case of Jabez Spann. We are spotlighting this case as the Sarasota Police Department desperately needs the help of the public. Please help find justice for Jabez."
Really liking these episodes. Such a sad case that doesn't have enough eyes on it.
Reading through 1 Chronicles 4 today, and the elaboration on Jabez in particular seems out of place. What are your thoughts on him?

This 2017 case will always be tied, in my mind, to both my sister's suicide on August 17th and Hurricane Irma arriving in Sarasota on September 9th. There was just a LOT of emotion. I remember hearing that Jabez had been reported missing just days before the storm hit and my heart ached knowing that his family was left to worry that he was out there in it.
At the time of his disappearance, Jabez Spann was a 14-year-old boy who was living in a racially segregated part of Sarasota FL called Newtown. His mother says, βHe was a teaching assistant and a star football player,β - the reason that they were instantly concerned when he missed school. His mother freely admits to making some poor life decisions and although he and his mother maintained a relationship, at the time of his disappearance, he was living with his maternal grandmother.
The case was complicated by the arrival of Hurricane Irma which hit the Sarasota area on Sept. 9, 2017. That was the last time his cell phone pinged. His mother said that she spoke to him on September 4th and he was last seen in the early morning hours of September 4th or 5th. The CrimeOnline article from May 21, 2018, reported that he was in the company of two other boys. the Facebook page says that one boy is known to the family, but they have still not identified the other boy.
Jabez's mother, Tawana, told NBC that "just as the family was wrapping up a search in late October, a man approached them and wanted to help. Their efforts for that day were done, but the man, Reginald Parker, said he had information that could help them: he said he knew why Jabez disappeared. Reginald said that, on August 28, he had witnessed the fatal shooting of Travis Combs in Sarasota. He said he wasnβt the only witness, though β he said Jabez was there, too.
βHe told us that Jabez was coming out of a friendβs house when [Travis] was shot,β Joseph Randall, a private investigator working Jabezβs case, told Dateline. βJabez yelled something along the lines of, βYβall shot him!ββ
It has also been reported that he was seen at a memorial service for Travis, the man who was killed.
I have included the Facebook link. The page has almost 600 followers, but it is not very active. I checked with the moderator of the page to make sure it was ok to post this. They said, βThank you for all the help we can getβ. It seems that the case was revived somewhat in January when it was investigated by Nancy Grace w
