A list of puns related to "Islamic Science"
I just wanted to hear this subreddit's thoughts around this controversy.
For those who don't know, an HS Islamic Studies' teacher in M'Asker was fired from his job after he went up to two of his female student who wore somewhat revealing attires and told them to wear clothes that align more with the Islamic value of chastity, ofc the entire ordeal went viral and several media outlets got their claws into it, the situation started getting bloated with drama, so naturally, Algerians started to scream their opinions on this left and right and most of them seem to hail him as a victim and a hero
I have recently taken an interest in the Islamic Golden Age and in my reading have become truly amazed at the breadth and depth of knowledge developed under the various Caliphates during the period.
Science, especially medical science, seems to have just been leaps and bounds more advanced than contemporary Asian or European practices. My question is: why and how?
Infact during end times of abbasid caliphate they were persecuted that they have forced to leave abbasid and start living in fatimid caliphate
Does it bother anyone else how little science is valued in the modern Islamic world and how far it has fallen since the Islamic golden age?
I was sent to madrassa has a child and studied there for about 5 years. On my off days I was at home reading books on astronomy and other sciences that I loved. It was my favorite pastime. I used to wonder, If religion had answers to the “big questions” surely the Imams and religious teachers were knowledgable on the sciences as well? Since they should compliment each other? but boy was I wrong. They were as scientifically literate as a rock. I’ve come to learn that scientific literacy— the literal study of the natural world, isn’t a prerequisite to be a religious leader who often talks about the natural world. As I’ve grown older I’ve learned that being scientifically illiterate is extremely common in my community.
I’ve read the statistics somewhere that Spain alone, a relatively small country, produces more science publication than the entire Islamic world by itself. Despite having 1.8 BILLION adherents in the world, Muslims consist of 0.8% of Nobel peace prize winners of science in the world. That’s just ridiculous and a testament to where Muslims are today in the intellectual sphere.
This is a group for progressive islam right? What many seem to not realize is that the root of the underlying issues is that anti intellectualism is high within our community. If it’s addressed and we had more scientifically literate people, extremism, fundamentalism, sexism and most other “isms” would naturally decrease.
Take a look at Islam during the Golden age. There was a lot of emphasis on acquiring knowledge and education. Philosophy and mathematics were taught alongside religion so people weren’t just taught what to think, but also how to think, a stark difference from how many religious institutes operate today where it’s just a passing on of information without question.

Al Zahrawi, Ibn Al-Nafis, Ibn al Haytham among hundreds of other thinkers during that time forever changed the trajectory of history, my personal favorite, Ibn Rushd’s work was later translated from Arabic to Latin and was a huge influence on the Western world which would subsequently flourish while the Islamic world would decline because the west chose to adopt those early Islamic philosophies on rationalism while the Muslim world disposed of them and reverted back to “hardline Islam” a trend that co

The thing is if it's written in the last centuries, I'm not interested and I will get somewhere in the future the Al Quran, but for now I'm not looking for anything too religious if it's possible.
Thanks in advance
P.S. Thank you all for your comments, and special thanks for the award. I have now a good database of books to search and read. I did some cursory research on all the suggested books and realized that it's not going to be easy to get a hold of some of them, but my perspective is that the first thing to do to read/enjoy a book is to know its name and then somewhere/somehow in the future the opportunity to own/read the book will present itself. THANK YOU ALL
The list I compiled so far please note that I didn't (at least consciously) left any recommended book even if not entirely on the requested subject:

Will I be forced to take them? Or will there be an option to replace them with another subject?
How much did Islamic Golden Age affect the development of science? Was it a big but not essential contribution or was it essential for modern science to exist?
How big was it? Was it like the Renaissance or was it not that big?
This might seem like loaded questions but they are the just me saying “How important was it for science?” in different ways. My real question is the title, the other questions are just my different variations of it. I asked the other ones to make people understand the first question, they are not different questions. I am just looking for the title’s question’s answer.

Edit: Thank you for the gold! I'm so glad that my post has resonated with people. Science and religion don't have to be at odds. That's actually one of the reasons I converted to Islam when I was in college. All the other students in the geology department at my university became atheist when they saw the proof of science being true (though a couple did change majors to something that wouldn't make them think about such things). It made me research other religions and I found Islam didn't contradict science. So I love that Muslim scholars, imams, and organizations have been at the front of advocating for listening to science and medical experts during the pandemic.
Islamic Civilization had contributed a lot to science as we understand it today. Here is a video that shows some of the terms that are linked to Islamic Civilization. (Subscribe for more Islamic History)
