Metrology puns.

My coworker is sitting behind me calibrating gauge blocks.

Coworker: β€œI love gauge blocks!” πŸ˜€

Me: β€œWhy don’t you marry them?”

Coworker: β€œ haha, I totally would!”

Me: β€œ better put a wring on it!”

Good afternoon to everyone except Alec Baldwin. This is your 12-minute Thursday report in 3079 words.

##Pashinyan met the newly appointed Yerevan mayor Hrachya Sargsyan to discuss the reforms

Pashinyan: there was an institutional problem in the municipality, and it was resolved institutionally. What do I mean by that?

Yerevan has been implementing My Step bloc's pre-election program since 2018. In turn, that program was based on Yelk's 2017 program. [Pashinyan used to be a member of Yelk alliance and ran for Yerevan mayor against Taron Margaryan in 2017.]

The political responsibility lies with the My Step bloc and the Council majority. It is necessary to implement the program fully. Being the 1st deputy mayor, Mr. Sargsyan has been a full participant in the process to implement that program.

I attach importance to the process that took place, in terms of the establishment of state institutions. You are aware that settlements with a population of over 4,000 hold new elections, and it's the council that appoints a mayor. It is impossible to work without the council's majority support.

It is very important that today we have a harmonious situation between the mayor of Yerevan and the Council. The mayor must also cooperate with the opposition members of the Council. Here, too, the unifying role is very important.

So far we have provided all the support to the Yerevan municipality, and that support will continue. We will discuss the reform program's speed and direction. I wish you all best of luck. //

Mayor Hrachyan Sargsyan: I realize how big the responsibility is. I'm aware of the institutions we have today and what needs to be reformed to withstand shocks and carry out the functionality.

With the help of the government, we can implement programs that for some reason have been ignored for years. We have the potential. We just need effective management. //

##the government approves another €20M loan to improve Yerevans bus network

It likely needs to be ratified by the Parliament. EBRD said it was extending a €20M sovereign loan to Armenia for the benefit of the Yerevan Bus Company.

The new low-floor buses will accommodate passengers with limited movement, including the elderly and disabled.

Cheap surface Metrology Options for small flats/prisms. Does anyone have recommendations budget interferometers or deflectometers?

Does anyone have any suggestions for cheap interferometers or deflectometers for small flat surfaces?

I'm trying to give a recommendation for someone who wants to measure flats and prisms <10mm and fairly loose Irregularity/flattness requirements for its size.

What are your dirt cheap recommendations for interferometers? Any vendors known for budget interferometers, get something off ebay?

Also are there any commercially available deflectometers suited for precision optics measurements? I assume there might be some cheap options there. The QED deflectometer for mrf spot measurement comes to mind.

I am assigned a presentation on the use of Metrology in any industry, but there's a lot of them, which industry should I start researching in your opinion? :)

My task is to choose an industry in which Metrology plays a crucial role. The physical quantities that are measured, tools used, etc...

My only problem is finding an industry with enough resources to research about. So I thought I'd ask here if anyone has any recommendations.

Thanks in advance.

New raw butcherblock tables in a metrology lab.

We just got new tables with raw butcherblock tops. I feel like they should be sealed/finished with something. Would good old Linseed oil work or is a varnish/lacquer finish needed?

Metrology Lab Furnishings

So at work, I'm getting the opportunity to refurnish an outdated inspection area with new better basic hardware. Any tips on things to get, vendors to shop from? The main things I'm thinking so far are needing counter-type surfaces, shelving, cabinets, racks, desks, and other misc furnishings.. Not sure where to start.

Remote Metrology Work?

I've been a metrologist going on 8 years and am currently working for big medical doing in-house calibration work. I have two bachelors degrees and my CCT. I'm sure its just burnout, but I've been thinking more about working remotely but am at a loss of what I could do with my work experience. We all know this career is essentially impossible to do remotely, so is there anything comparable you could think of that would use the skillset but not require driving on-site every day? Just trying to figure out a way to change things up without starting from ground zero again. I'm on hour 11 today waiting on a vendor to repair one of our OGP's.

Google glass is back ? - Laser MEMS technology jobs - Display Engineer, , Optical Hardware/Device Engineer, Waveguide Metrology Researcher, Technical Program Manager (Platform Optics)

It seems like Google glass might be back. I see a lot of job postings. And they are using MEMS technology. It's not surprising that Google uses LBS/MEMS technology since they acquired North Focal sometime back which is built on MEMS technology.

Major Takeaway : Facebook, Apple, and Google.. all using LASER MEMS by looking at their job requirements and patents. ( Microsoft already has commercial product Hololens 2 built based on MEMS/LBS)

Need someone with experience in metrology for project

I only need an hour of your time to run a project by (ie: expanding peer review pool, if you will). This project has involved a number of professionals in various fields (sciences and math, etc) and I am looking for a someone who has a good understanding of meteorology (schooling and/or professional experience) to offer a different perspective to the project. This is not a paid gig. It is merely a research project - a year+ into it - and would love to share meteorologist's insight on the research.

It would be a recorded zoom meeting, merely for my own research and review. If I seek to use it further than that, I would be sure to get written or video confirmation from you. PM me for further details.

Thank you in advance.

Metrology Assessment

Hey everyone, the hiring manager is going to set me up for a electrical assessment in tuscon. This is for a calibration service technician. We went over how there’s about 12 categories and briefly went through what’s going to be on it such as diode questions transistor questions temperature conversion questions microwave Rf questions etc.

I’m mechanically inclined and a sponge I went to automotive tech school, I understand electrical components but I don’t work on it as much as I did before let alone microwave RF knowledge. So I was wondering if you guys can help me and let me know what I should study specifically and brush up on to prepare.

E-Commerce Theme Development for Metrology Equipment Suppliers

I was interested in developing an E-commerce theme for metrogy equipment suppliers. I couldnt really find an exact number of of how many suppliers there are or if there is even a demand for it. I found a few sites like metrologyparts.com. I want this theme to be able to scale for a variety of parts and equipment. I can see some suppliers only be interested in selling CMM Probes and handheld gauges but others might want to be able to rent laser trackers. I am curious what consumers have to go through when buying metrology equipment.
