Just read iRobot by Isaac Asimov
Why did they even give that movie with Will Smith the same name? The only similarities between the two is robots, and the 3 Robotic laws. I hate when movies do that. Itβs just like World War Z, where the only similarity between the the book and the movie is that thereβs zombies.
Whatβs incredibly frustrating about both is the storyline in the books is so much better than the movies. Harder to translate to screen for sure, theyβd both work better as a series, but still. Iβm also realizing as I write this the similarities between World War Z and iRobot with their screen adaptations. Both books are interviews about different stories, and both movies just made up some completely different storyline and used the same name.
Anyway, I loved the book. I wouldβve read it much earlier if I had known the movie was nothing like it. If you enjoy books that delve into what separates man from machine, Iβd definitely suggest iRobot by Isaac Asimov.

In the Transformers movies, robots frequently attack humans or piss on them, breaking Isaac Asimov's First Law of Robotics. This is a reference to the fact Isaac Asimov is dead and didn't write these movies

Isaac Asimov?.
Is foundations any good? I like Syfy but with it being an older book I feel like all the science would be super outdated. Any thoughts?

"The Foundation" by Isaac Asimov and Frank Herbert's "Dune"
I recently finished reading all of the Dune books (maybe a month ago) and I started snooping around for other - similar - books.
My search was over relatively quickly, for I came across "The Foundation" by Asimov. The plots for these two stories are somewhat similar, equally philosophical.
Both are set in a feudalistic, space aged future. Both have some kind of prescience, and both are contained within long spans of time.
Just how much was Herbert inspired by Asimov? I don't have much to add but I recommend these stories if you're looking for something like Dune.

I am two pages away from finishing The End of Eternity, by Isaac Asimov. My first book by him. And holy shit, this is good
No spoilers here, but it has been awhile since a story stuck with me like this. Made me think about it, wonder what would happen, how, etc. And now, at the end, I am in my edge. Don't want to finish, but I will and will update you guys.
Idk if this is the best introduction to Asimov's work, but I thought it was pretty good. In the beginning he explains and talks a little about some interesting, not-so-far-from-reality theories. The story in the middle is kinda meh but I liked his writing style, wasn't tiring at any part. Straight to the point. But the end, holy shit I did NOT expected that.
Highly recommend this book. Will finish and update you guys.
edit: holy shit 10/10 finale, was not expecting this. Amazing that I had "holy shit what" moments 3+ times in the last 10 pages. Amazing finale, holy shit

Isaac Asimov gift help
I hope this is allowed on this subreddit, let me know if it's not. I'm looking to buy a few second hand books for my partner from Isaac Asimov, but I'm not quite sure where to start.
Are the "short stories" worth getting? I liked the idea of getting Bicentennial man so I can take it and read it after him, but I found the "Bicentennial Man and other stories", is that worth getting instead?
Any specific book suggestions?
I am on the phone so idk what that does to formatting but everyone says that, so here it is.
