A list of puns related to "Grand Opera"
The Rock Orchestra in Wilmington, DE is playing Abacab and Duke in their entirety on May 7 2022 at The Grand Opera House in Wilmington, DE. Tix/Info: https://www.thegrandwilmington.org/productions/6965-tro-genesis/
I'm in the band-- we played the entirety of The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway back right before the pandemic... and the same lineup is returning for Duke/Abacab.
If you wanna see video of us doing The Lamb, here's a YouTube link: https://youtu.be/E5nZheA_Rfo
I'm the percussionist/3rd vocalist with the blonde fauxhawk. :-)
(The Rock Orchestra is not just a Genesis tribute band-- we do 4 tributes a year. We've done Springsteen, The Who, INXS, REM, Elton John's pre-1979 material, The Eagles, Pink Floyd, Tom Petty, REM, Queen, Jethro Tull, The Beatles (where we play all 215 Beatles songs over a 6-night festival in release order) and more.)
EDIT: Despite the name, The Rock Orchestra isn't a traditional orchestra. We're a group of over 100 seasoned rock musicians and our goal is to gather the perfect combination of musicians from our roster to most accurately recreate these albums note-for-note. We don't do costumes and we don't try to look like the band... we just focus on the music.
Hey all
As the title suggests I'm looking to find out what seats are best? I was going for the grand circle very front row but I don't know if that so close your neck would be killing you? Anyone able to give me any insight to which seats they feel are the best?
I've read Ian M Bank's Culture novels, Peter F Hamilton's Night's Dawn and Commonwealth series, what's next? Should I get into Revelation Space, or the Bobverse - or what?
Hey peeps!
So I am currently considering taking a road trip to Houston in January to see their production of Dialogues des CarmΓ©lites, and I'm hoping to find a seat that is as cheap as possible (I'm a college student and I'm not in Texas. enough said.). the balcony seats are between $25 and $55. the $25 seats are in Balcony O, which is very, very high up. the more expensive seats are closer to the stage. my question for anyone who has sat in the balcony of the Houston Grand Opera is what part of the balcony should one sit in to get the best mix of good view, good acoustics, and reasonably cheap price?
(this is what the seating map for the balcony looks like. Balcony O is at the top.)
thanks!
Hello r/operaoftheday! Iβm really excited to share this week of streams with you. After an amazing two weeks of baroque opera and Mozart, we will jump forward in time once again to the era of grand opera. As you can see from the giant casts, these operas have plenty of size and spectacle to go around, although some of the videos Iβve chosen are from more modern and/or minimalistic performances. Some of these operas are not strictly in the French grand format of 5 acts with a ballet in the middle, but they are all very much in the grand opera tradition, and they come from a melting pot of composers: four Italian, two French, and one German. Of the operas I have chosen, I believe only one was streamed by the Met, so hopefully you all will enjoy these relatively lesser-known works!
Below is the schedule for this week (Iβll be posting the link for Guillaume Tell soon).
