A list of puns related to "Gateleg Table"
Iβve been keeping my eye on this for weeks and itβs out of stock at my local store, and also at most stores around the US. When I called they said it might be restocked in the next 10 business days, but that hasnβt been true.
Does anyone know if this is being discontinued?
It's out of stock in most stores and not available online. Wondering if it's being reworked and a similar but alternative offering is in the pipeline? Thanks in advance

Hi, I want to make this table . Iβm pretty much an absolute beginner, Iβve βmadeβ shelves, put together benches and a built a very basic cat tower. This table seems like a simple enough piece to work on my skills. Where can I find a blueprint/plan/spec/whatever itβs called for something similar to this? Iβve seen plans for folding tables, but none like this with drawers and all. Thanks.
Overall I like the NORDEN gateleg table. However, when extended the tops of the table shift when pressed on either side. Is there a way to fix this? To clarify the problem - I guess the latch that joins the "leaves" of the table top to the center may be uneven, such that one side can be pressed down, causing the opposite side to raise up. Once the side is no longer pressed, the other side will go down again. This causes a lot of unwanted rattle/motion when using the table. I checked that the latches were screwed on securely, and they seem to be. Thanks for any help.
I purchased and assembled a Norden Gateleg Table (see link)

Everything is fine except when the leafs are raised, the hinges have slop and the tops wiggle slightly up and down. It is annoying since you cannot really lean on the table without it squeegeeing. I am going to look for some better hinges on some wood working websites but I am wondering if anyone had any recommendations or hacks.
I am also wondering if anyone has tried using caster wheels in the legs and gatelegs?
I have a small tiny dining room that can use a very compact table.
Here are the most compact tables I have found.
Norden Gateleg from ikea - $199
Clarabelle Drop Leaf Dining Table @ Wayfair - $275.99 or dual leaf - $306.99
I like the Norden the best but it would stick out by ~2 inches when I have it stored in front of my window. Does anyone know of a similar table?
Hello All. I have been eyeing the Norden table for some time. I have a small apartment and am looking for a dining table that can be moved out of the way when not in use. the Norden seems perfect, but from the packaging info, it looks like it weighs almost 100 lbs? This would seem to make this table not very useful if you wanted to use both sides. It would be hard to move out from the wall to unfold the second leaf, especially since my apartment is carpeted. Does anyone have thoughts about how to make this more workable? Has anyone added casters to it and do they help?
We have no real dining room, so we have to either play games on our large coffee table, or set up a card table which often isn't quite big enough for what we want to do. We have a 6 foot Rubbermaid folding table, which is too bulky and heavy, has to be stored downstairs in our basement when not in use, so it is completely impractical as a regular gaming table. Plus our house is kinda awkwardly small, so any table needs to take up little space when put away. Today I set out on a search to remedy this and thought the IKEA Norden would be a great choice. Apparently several other members of this sub have it and concur.
However hubby is of big build and 6' tall, and is concerned that he won't be able to find a spot at the table where the gate legs aren't a big pain in the butt. Despite showing him lots of evidence of people being generally happy with it, he is unconvinced (which I understand). The nearest IKEA is not just a simple jaunt to check it out, so I don't want to bother to make the trip unless it seems a high likelihood we would coming home with a new table, ya know?
With this in mind, can anyone of significant height and/or size comment on the comfort of using this table as a gaming table? I was going to ask on the thread I found, but it's too old and has become closed to comments.
And while I'm at it, if not this table, what has been your solution to a similar problem? Namely, you need a table that can be moved easily out of the way when not in use?
Edited for clarity, as I guess I wasn't clear already: We have no room for any kind of table to stay set up full time. Not even a bistro table, let alone a four-seater dining table which opens out to six or eight seats. We need something a bit bigger than a card table when set up, but which breaks down as small as possible to be put away when not in use. We have folding chairs we use now which go in the corner and a card table which slips behind the sofa, for comparison. If I had pictures to show how limited space is I would, but trust me...anything that works like even a small dining table when fully broken down is too large.
Hello, my fiance and I are looking at getting some decent patio furniture since that's all the outdoors we're going to see for awhile. We like the aesthetic of Applaro.
We have some limited space on our balcony so thought the Applaro folding table would work well since it can also expand if we have guest after (post-covid). However, I've noticed there is an older, less stable design and a newer, more stable design. But it looks like the new one cuts into the leg space and the old one is discontinued (can't buy online). See pictures : the old has one folding strutt, the new has 2 folding struts per side
Just curious what people think of this new design and if you've had experience with the older design, do you think this is too big a compromise for stability? I can't image sitting on the side and being comfortable fishing my legs through. Thoughts?
I just finished a reproduction of a gateleg table that my grandmother gave me 50 years ago. Here are some pictures. The reproduction is solid walnut, the top was made from boards from a local tree. The banding, consisting of maple burl, ebony and holly, matches the banding on two other pieces of furniture I built, so its part of a set. It took me a while to turn all the spindles.
I have been searching for a few weeks but my google-fu is weak on this one. I have a small kitchen and am looking for a table that I can use as workspace or dining space. I have been looking at drop leaf tables but I am concerned that If I am rolling dough or something on them the pressure will eventually damage the leaf.
I think a gate leg table would be perfect, but I'm not able to find one that is counter height (36" or 91.5cm).
Here is a link to something similar to what Im looking for, but is unfortunately regular table height.

Thanks in advance for any help!
I'm a noob at furniture-scale wood projects, and I'm currently building a custom gateleg table for my 3D printer. The build has largely gone to plan so far with one significant exception: the table surface itself. I edge-glued 4 poplar boards from Home Depot into a 21x25.25" surface, added 1/4" boards around the underside to give it a 1" edge profile, then added 3/4" thick poplar braces. The board is now unexpectedly warped.
Imgur album of the surface, the warp issue, 3D renders of the table plans, and the work done so far.
Question 1: is there a good way to straighten it, or have I screwed myself by having it all securely glued down already?
Question 2: if edge-gluing poplar myself isn't the best idea, what would be a better material? I'm using pre-edge-glued spruce panels for the center shelves which seems to be a decent material, and I can buy that large enough for what I need. I could also use some good plywood. The table will be painted in the end, so as long as I can get it smooth, I really don't care what the underlying material is if it fulfills the mechanical needs. Of particular concern is for the flip-up panels- I don't want to pick something with a serious risk of warping over time.
Thanks for any help you can give! And yes, I'll post the completed table and more process pics once done.
Bought the Birch Norden Gateleg Table years ago, but now wanting a change of colour. I'm a complete newbie so would appreciate any tips on doing this (sanding? type of primer? type of paint? rollers/brush? finishing?) TIA!
Does anyone here have the Norden Table? I would like to try and make this into a foldable desk. My main question is whether or not the gate legs can be folded out to 90* from the base, as opposed to 45*?
In its folded position, It would just hold my imac up against the wall. When I want to work, I would fold the one side out, so I can wheel my chair underneath and work with more room for my keyboard and wacom tablet, while maintaining a good distance from my monitor.
Does anyone remember what the name of that ikea table they tried to build was? I'm currently redecorating and refuse to watch a re-upload to find the answer, haha, thanks!
I've wanted a board game table for a long time, but space is limited in my apartment. Doing some cursory research into expandable board game tables, it looks like they don't exist (which makes a lot of sense, given the importance of the felt inlay).
Have any of you made a nice board game space that doesn't dominate your small apartment when you don't have friends over?
Most of the time I play 2 player games with my partner and a small square table in our kitchen is fine. We host game nights of up to 6 people though. Currently, we add a leaf to our square table and drag it to the center of the room to seat 6. The table would also need to function as an eating surface for those fleeting moments in our lives when we aren't playing games.
My top option at the moment is buying 2 custom sized neoprene mats sized to fit the square table and the expanded table. Very functional, but doesn't scream luxury. Does anyone have better suggestions?
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Hi all
I searched on here but didn't see anything. I noticed the Ivar folding table on the website says now or never (along with every set it's in). None of the other pieces do and I see there are new parts to the Ivar system. Is it being discontinued or replaced?
Do your worst!
I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies π
It really does, I swear!
Because she wanted to see the task manager.

I'm moving out of my current apartment and want to keep that dining table. I plan on extending the table all the way like the third photo in that link.
I currently have two of these since I was limited for space in my current apartment. Now in the new one, I actually have space to put a dining table.
Any suggestions for a matching set of chairs (4)?
Thanks!
