... keep reading on reddit β‘Tried Googling this and can't find the answer. When on the fringe? 30 feet off the fringe? I always thought you could pull it as long as it doesn't interrupt speed of play. What is the official ruling? Any links? All I can find are "tending" it links which makes sense to me.
I did however still managed to win the hole.

If football can have one in a pylon and baseball in a base, why not golf in a flagstick? Obviously wouldn't work for putts but would still be cool to see on chips/approaches or at a minimum, par three sticks.
Had another one this morning that hit the flagstick dead middle and bounced a foot away. I was playing solo, so couldn't even pull the flag if I wanted to anyway. It was quick, but almost certainly would have dropped. Do you guys count them, or not?
Iβve had 7 or 8 shots roll towards the hole then bounce off the flagstick, ending up not going in. These are shots that usually would have dropped. Is this an update or am I just unlucky? Haha
Iβve golfed quite a few courses this year, and have seen several methods to deal with the flagstick/hole. Very curious as to what golfers prefer. Iβve seen:
Pool noodles below the cup Pool noodles with a metal disc so you can hear the ball go in. Pool noodles above the cup (putt and a small bounce is in) Lifters attached to the flagstick. Normal flagstick insert V turned upside down. My course uses this method and it is terrible.
What are your thoughts?
I played my first round of the year yesterday with my usual group. We decided to just leave the pin in when putting unless somebody asked for it to be pulled.
It seems like such a minor thing, but it made the flow around the green noticeably better. No more "Want it in or out?" questions on long putts, no more looking around to see who's going to pull the pin or who's going to put it back, or trying to figure out if somebody is just off the fringe, so you should leave the pin in. You just get to the green and start thinking about your putt. It's a tiny thing that makes an actual difference.
On a more substantive note, I hit a birdie putt very firm. Clanged into the stick and dropped into the hole. I can't say for sure, but I don't think that putt drops with the pin out.
I played a round yesterday and during the round someone in the group decided to putt from off the green. Due to the course rule implemented because of COVID, no one is to touch the flag. Now, the putt ended up hitting the pin, not at an aggressive speed and my friend asked to me "would you have pulled the flagstick out normally if I was putting from off the green?" he asked because it could have likely gone in but again we have no way of knowing, but I don't know what the rule is it when it comes to hitting from off the green (I'm aware of the new rules when hitting on the green).
Any clarification would be appreciated.

Just wondering what others do and why?
I leave it in (mainly for convenience) - but the pro's always seem to remove it (as do most people in comps).
Anyone have to play 18 holes with the flagstick not removed on the green? Is this a glitch or a social distancing rule?
So, Mass Golf just came out with their Phase 3 guidelines that offer uses of caddies and rental clubs etc. but the flagstick still must remain in the hole at all times.
Any of you other reddit golfers allowed to take the flagstick out yet?
So this happened to me today while I was playing. The group I was in kept the flag in for the most part. I hit a 10 footer that lodged itself between the stick and lip of the hole. Under the new rule, does the ball still need to fall into the hole in order for it to count?
