A list of puns related to "Electronica"
<cough,cough>
It focuses on the macro side of the reef and ocean, so a lot of it is really crazy trippy stuff you might not have seen on nature shows 100 times already, shot beautifully. Reeeeaaly easy to zone out on. The close ups of all the tiny little mini creatures are just fascinating.
So now Iβm thinking, what are some other good shows to put on in the background while you listen to music? Iβm always looking for a nice space one that doesnβt have a bunch of talking heads ruining the vibe every 3 minutes for instance.
NOTE: album was initially scheduled to have no features (according to this tweet) until Curren$y received a call for the Jay Elec verse.
I don't think I've ever heard these two mentioned in the same sentence before but I think they'd make some godly music together. That is all.
Are there any pedals that will jump to different/random frequencies/parameters on every note? Ie. Basslines in Acid/idm music/Bass Station + AFX mode. I have a C4 synth.. perhaps toying with lfoβs could achieve some interesting results
My 13 year old who has ASD showed an interest in making his own music awhile back. I only mention that he has ASD because it makes him super focused on everything he does. So currently this is his obsession. And to be honest due to his disorder (and being gifted) he amazes me on what he accomplishes. For instance (dad brag) he taught himself how to play the piano. So I got him a nice one for XMAS (as well as full version of FL) so most of his cords and such are actually played by hand (which I feel adds something).
Anyhow he did not want to share his tracks. He thought it was pointless and that no one would care. I convinced him and so far reddit has been amazing showing him support. So I thought I should go ahead and share it in a few other subs.
Here is his Soundcloud if anyone wants to listen: https://soundcloud.com/user-lenticularis/sets
Thanks everyone!
I've tried googling the fragments of lyrics I can recall but nothing comes up. Please help!
In my opinion he is underrated

I think I would label the track above as Deep House, but I'm not very familiar with the genre, so feel free to correct me.
I really like the riffs and the simplicity so if anyone knows similar artists/tracks, I would highly appreciate your recommendations.
Buenas gentes, eso basicamente... Hay algun sub sobre estos temas? No logro encontrar. Gracias, che π
This week I've been diving into the sounds of Bonobo and trying to get an idea of what makes his music so organic sounding, despite it's house-like, electronic elements.
I had many unsuccessful attempts but started to drill down closer to "his sound", I thought I'd share my findings with you guys and would love the producers who make similar music to chime in too!
An ostinato is all you need. I found creating a chord progression, B & C sections and trying to balance all these melodies oh so overwhelming to the overall goal. When I stripped things back to a simple ostinato (repeating pattern) and layered my sounds on top, I quickly had a loop that sounded like the main section to the song. From here I could arrange my song, creating an intro, break, B, section and outro all using variations of that same loop.
Found sounds / field recordings + Sidechain Sidechaining (or shaperbox) is your friend! Get all those lovely field recordings of waves, marbles and tin cans. Keep them low in the mix and sidechain them to a 4/4 rhythm. It creates an awesome, organic pulse to your percussion section - if you're an Ableton user, double click on the clip, choose transient "beats" the forward arrow and bring the envelope down. This will dampen the overtones and make your field recordings a little more percussive and in-keeping!
Kalimbas / Thumb pianos / Jasnos All or any of the above, utilising the kalimba sound with a little plate reverb and then playing that ostinato as mentioned previously gives you that "wordly" theme that Bonobo has so often in his music.( I keep a piano chord or chord pad sidechaining under this pattern to bulk out the sound!) I've been using the "Jasno" from Felt Instruments, a really fantastic, unique sounding VST (especially if you're trying to venture outside Kontakt!)
Automation is EVERYTHING. Try to automate as much as you can, low pass filters, hi pass filters, length of reverb, increase the "noise" / vocoder. Increase delays, change the timing of the delays and space of fx. Increasing and decreasing your FX 5-10% over a long period of time is a fantastic way to get that humanistic feel like your music is breathing or evolving! Try not to keep your instruments static after recording them in, have fun with them!
TLDR : If reading isn't your thing, I've documented my success (and downfalls) in this tutorial: https://youtu.be/8KQvHUFnFCY
I hope this helped someone. Enjoy :)
I just graduated from the Computational Social Science masters program and am interested in collaborating with people to cover songs virtually! Iβve sung Indian classical music for 20 years, which translates very well to jazz and soul. I also play violin (classical and teaching myself folk and Celtic), just bought a midi keyboard and can play basic progressions, and can play basic flute. My favorite artists right now are Laufey, Kimbra, Zero 7, Lake Street Dive, Sam Cooke, The Strokes/The Voidz, and Radiohead (OK Computer and Kid A).
Anyone in the Chicago area into these genres and willing to make tracks/covers remotely, and potentially in person down the road?
I really enjoy the Strokeβs The New Abnormal and Car Seat Headrestβs Making a Door Less Open and was wondering what other bands or albums out there had a similar sound to those albums, a mix of indie rock and electronica, more synth-wave and less regular EDM stuff.
