Hi. I just started watching this great series a couple of days ago (I'm on s3e14 atm)

I noticed there were a LOT of devil puns, and I was wondering since the beginning of the series: do they ever use a pun about the song "The devil went down to Georgia"?

It's just a great song and a little passing joke about a fiddle is so fitting to Luci's personality.

So I'll just be glad if you could tell me if I missed it (or if it's ahead of me, just tell me without spoilers).

I am currently in a campaign of Curse of Strahd, and my bard acts like a fool to hide how clever they are. We have a dinner coming up with the devil himself, and I *really* like to annoy Strahd, so I'm trying to come up with puns to use on him (sidenote: I know my DM loves puns, so he'll probably get a kick out of it). Can you guys help me out? (Please try not to spoil the story; I don't know much about Strahd's backstory yet) Here's what I have so far:

-He's been a pain in Ireena's neck

-We have the same taste in women (my bard is in love with Ireena)

-...A bite to eat (cause, you know, its a dinner party)

-He left like a bat out of hell

-I'm well aware of the stakes/grave consequences

-[something] is an undead giveaway

-Devil puns (give the devil his due, the devil may care, speak of the devil, etc)

I saw Ghost in 2017 on the Popestar tour opening for Iron Maiden (my 2nd favorite band) on the Book of Souls tour- and never have I seen a crowd warm up to a band so quickly, it was a BEAUTIFULLY matched tour, because Maiden was a band full of costumed mascots, dark lyrical themes, melodic heavy metal and flashy stage presence... And most of all... FANS WHO ARE OPEN TO NEW MUSIC... Every Ghost show I’ve been to since has been full of older couples and friends who saw them on that tour and since become massive Ghost fans, it’s one of the best things that has happened to them in my opinion..

Then there’s the Metallica side of the pond, as much as James and the boys adore Ghost you can’t help but feel this odd animosity from a lot of their fanbase who are sadly “Metal elitists” who comment “GHOST ISNT METAL” in every Loudwire comments section that even breathes the word Ghost... Not saying that’s all of them because I love Metallica, seen them live twice myself with Sevenfold and Volbeat opening and people were totally cool with them, but when a band busts out there with masks and a keyboard player with catchy melodies the treat it like it’s the devil (pun intended). But I dunno, has anyone here been to one of the Metallica/Ghost shows? How does it look from the perspective of actually being there?

I can easily say form the first three stories, that this anthology is worth the cover price. Madness Heart Press has done it again. So far, I’m actually more impressed with this anthology than Creeping Corruption.

Now, I need to harp on this, there wasn’t anything in this anthology that had me spellbound like “The Being,” but that’s kinda a gem in the rough from Creeping Corruption.

Over all, the quality of writing was better. None of the stories were obnoxiously cliche. Only two disappointed me deeply. I mean, there are some exceptionally solid short stories in this collection, and it makes me wonder how those two failures even got in there.

I think what was marvelous about most of these stories is the way they made very alien concepts tangible. Most of the authors succeeded in creating disquieting sensations that are just delicious for fans of body horror.

I highly recommend this anthology.

I never realized lycanthropy could be used as such a brilliant metaphor for body dysmorphia. I have to say, I’m deeply impressed with how the author painted an image of a girl learning to accept her "inner wolf."

The writing was in perfect present tense at times which can be an uncomfortable read if not done right. It was a little shaky, but not offensively so.

The pacing wasn’t the best. There was almost two full pages devoted to the girl’s feet and it felt like the transition took longer than it needed. However, this does add to the general discomfort it should put on the reader. So again, not offensive.

Already off to a pretty good start.

Familiar Faces

A fantastic revisitation of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, of a sorts. It plays with the concept of identity and body, much like the first story, but in a more sinister way. Is Jekyll giving way to temptations deep within him, finally released by his new found identity, or is the face taking over Jekyll’s body by imprinting itself on him?

What’s really fun about this one is how well the first person narrative is portrayed. You could believe for the briefest of moments this is one of though “don’t give up on life” true stories, right before it takes a sudden and violent turn down

Beginning of this month my SO told his mom that we weren’t coming to Christmas. She was pissed, argued, so he hung up.

Last week she texted him: “Everyone is coming and dinner is at 6pm. Please be early!”

SO: “we’re not going.”

She called him, screamed that he can’t change plans last minute and all he said is that we never did and hung up again. Que flying monkeys that he promptly ignored.

Today she texted me: “Bring the deviled eggs, everyone is expecting them. Love you!”

Lol I’ve never made deviled eggs in my fucking life.

I told SO and he texted his mom “Again, for the 3rd, time, we’re not coming. We’ll send presents through mail.”

MIL: “you’re disappointing everyone, you’ve clearly shown that you don’t care about your family and your niece’s first Christmas.”

He didn’t respond so she then texted him later: “if you’re not coming have (me) drop off the deviled eggs.”

He didn’t respond again. I’m not fucking driving 2 hours there and back for your deviled eggs. Kiss my ass crazy lady.

Update tomorrow is probably expected lol.

UPDATE 1 (December 26, 2020)

Hi everyone! Sorry about the day late update, SO and I spent Christmas watching movies, eating ice cream, and playing PC games. It was perfect.

Thank you for everyone’s interactions, comments, and hilarious remarks. I also enjoy that the comment section slowly turned into a deviled egg recipe exchange, LMAO.

With all of your tips and tricks, SO and I decided that we will attempt to make deviled eggs soon, I’ll let y’all know how it goes!! And I’ll make sure to post a photo on the book of faces about how delicious it was.

Also in regards to concern that MIL might be exhibiting mental illness: She’s in her late 40’s, both SO and I are 20. She’s very healthy, active, and aware. We’re not at all concerned because this is a typical tactic of hers. She pretends to not have ever been told no so that she can play victim and clueless. She pressures until she gets what she wants.

I digress. Back to the chismé.

I would like to try and make some deviled eggs. There are so many recipes to choose from and I am feeling overwhelmed. Do I use mayo or miracle whip? Mustard or mustard powder? Any tips appreciated.

I made a bunch of deviled eggs today. My wife worries that eating a bunch at once might be dangerous "because cholesterol", but this isn't a food I consume every day. I just about never buy eggs because they aren't as satisfying as other ZC foods.

That said, for someone who isn't consuming eggs every day, is there anything dangerous about consuming a whole bunch at once? Digestive upset? Something worse?

That’s right, I’m the one with the JNMIL who demanded the devil eggs to be delivered on Christmas when I lived an hour away!! The one who made the BEST deviled eggs (spoiler alert: I’ve never once made deviled eggs in my life). Check out my post history.

Anyways my blissful one year of minimal to no contact has come to a hault. Let’s read the text messages:

MIL: “hello OP. I would like to inform you well In advance that we are expecting the deviled eggs for thanksgiving this year, we would like to avoid a repeat of last years Christmas.”

Me: “I’m sorry I wasn’t aware I was taking orders.”

MIL: “will you be bringing the deviled eggs?”

Me: “I have spoken with SO. We will be stopping by to see you all but no, I will not bring the eggs that I have never made before. I work a closing shift the night before so I wouldn’t have time to learn how to make them either anyways.”

MIL: “We were left disappointed last year and it seems you disappoint us again this year. Shame.”

Me: “who’s us? Not one person has asked me about these nonexistent eggs besides you. They’ve had a year to voice their disappointment.”

MIL: “The family.”

Me: If “the family” wants eggs so bad, “the family” can make it themselves.

MIL: “Please find the time to make the eggs. Thank you. See you on thanksgiving!”

Me: “no. See ya on Thanksgiving!”

I think I’m gonna bring a carton of store bought eggs when I get there. lol

This all sounds too nuts to be true, then add in the part 1/part 2 nonsense.....I believe a semblance of this story could have happened, but it's embellished.
