I recently watched a documentary from the series Ireland's greatest on John Hume, which he won by being voted as Ireland's greatest ever person. I didn't know much about John Hume before he died since I'm in my early 20s and from the South. But, after watching this documentary, I think that not only was he perhaps Ireland's greatest, but he's on the same stature as Nelson Mandela, Gandhi and Martin Luther King. I also noticed that a man named David Trimble also received the Nobel peace prize, he's from the Unionist community in Northern Ireland. Just wondering what things did this man do to bring about peace in Northern Ireland to warrant a nobel peace prize? I couldn't find any documentaries on him.

I’ve heard somewhere that Paisley Snr called Trimble a lundy for agreeing to the Good Friday Agreement but can’t any news articles or scholarly books which quote or back this up, did this really happen and can someone give me a source that can be traced and referenced for use in an essay if possible?
