A list of puns related to "Centrally Symmetric"
This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 72%. (I'm a bot)
> FRANKFURT - The European Central Bank will drop its just-below-2 percent inflation target in favor of a "Symmetric" target of 2 percent, Europe's most powerful financial institution said Thursday after concluding its strategy review.
> In a process ECB President Christine Lagarde described to POLITICO as "Somewhat of a constitutional moment," the ECB overhauled its strategy for the first time in almost two decades.
> "The Governing Council considers that price stability is best maintained by aiming for a 2% inflation target over the medium term. This target is symmetric, meaning negative and positive deviations of inflation from the target are equally undesirable," the ECB said in a statement.
> Quizzed on whether the ECB will aim for inflation overshooting target or simply tolerate it under certain conditions, Lagarde stressed repeatedly that the ECB's target is 2 percent, but the effective lower bound poses risks that may require forceful action that can result in temporary overshooting.
> As POLITICO reported ahead of the announcement, the ECB took a conservative approach on the hotly debated question of whether to reference allowing inflation to overshoot the target after years of undershooting, merely acknowledging the possibility that this could happen.
> In the run-up to the decision, some policymakers, including Olli Rehn, who heads Finland's central bank, and Ignazio Visco, Italy's central bank chief, had pushed for a more radical overhaul toward U.S. Federal Reserve-style average inflation targeting, under which policymakers let prices overshoot to ensure average inflation of 2 percent.

The tech boom brought a lot of economic migrants from all over the country to Bangalore, and guess what the citizens of Bengaluru did? They cashed out on the opportunity to make money, each and every landowner in Bengaluru became filthy rich.
North Indians didn't cut trees here, Kannadigas cut trees, to make way for their multi-story buildings, to sell or rent out to North Indians or make way for wide roads. Each and every decision that led to the demise of the "old Bangalore" was made by Kannadigas, not north Indians. All the lawmakers in your legislative, in your municipal corporation most of the bureaucrats in BDA, BBMP, BWSSB and most of the police is and has been Kannadiga.
North Indians are just a convenient punching bag, an easy target for you because you don't want to fathom that, it's you and your leader's greed that led to this. Your apathy in ignoring your civic duties and not making your politicians answerable while you and your leaders filled their coffers led to this.
Bengaluru is such a great example of turning a beautiful city into an urban dystopia because most people here who should care are busy minting money. When it's the time to finger point, oh it's the north Indians, because you don't want to introspect, you don't want to blame your apathy, your ignorance, your greed, your politicians.
Somebody commented here North Indians refuse to learn Kannada, when did anyone refuse to learn Kannada? Nobody came to me and said you have to learn Kannada and I said no to him. You have to understand most people who are migrating here are not kids, they are adults and very busy with their lives, it's very difficult to learn a new language at this age. Forget about Kannada, many north Indians in Bangalore are not even teaching their kids Hindi. I myself tried to search many places to learn Kannada online but couldn't find any place convenient enough for me.
If you are really serious about the use of Kannada in Bengaluru then stop whining about it and actually start promoting, make it easy and convenient to learn. Take inspiration from British Council and open up Kannadiga Council or something like that all over Bangalore, learn from Christian missionaries and their bible study Sundays and put notices for Sunday Kannada study groups at colleges, office

In a previous post I put forth a theory that Elden Ring is the Dark Souls of alchemy, adapting and literalizing concepts and symbols from the Hermetic tradition of alchemy, specifically the magnum opus or Great Work, to form the basis of its world and lore.
The release of the story trailer and recent Edge interview motivated me to revisit these connections and elaborate on my initial theories. The previous post can be found pinned in my profile, but I will recap some of the key points and sum up the additional points below:
The Elden Ring logo can be compared to alchemy-related diagrams such as the Ripley Scroll, which illustrates the achievement of the fabled philosophersβ stone.
The playerβs journey from lowly Tarnished to golden Lord corresponds to alchemyβs Great Work, where lead is literally or metaphorically turned to gold.
The βbloody wolfβ identity of the Tarnished mirrors that of alchemyβs βgrey wolfβ (antimony), a βcooperative metalβ capable of purifying gold.
Various sections of the Ripley Scroll seem to correspond to key lore concepts in Elden Ring.
I don't know if it's been discussed before but I just realized how many themes from first three books are present in sort of a symmetrical way in the last three books.
For example:
PS & DH:
Both are about mysterious artifacts that can defy death (the stone vs horcruxes/hallows) which ultimately don't play a big role plotwise but they serve as catalysts to the plot;
The first book starts with people rejoicing that Voldemort has been finally defeated while the last books starts out with Voldemort gaining more and more power;
Both portray Hagrid taking Harry to and from the Number 4 Privet Drive on a motorcycle;
Both involve a break-in in Gringotts;
Both involve Snape being suspected as the bad guy only to be revealed that he was trying to help out the good guys all along;
Both involve a journey to the underworld. The first one is more symbolic with the cerberus guarding a trap door that leads in a chamber below Hogwarts, while the latter is a more literal one with Harry actually ending up in limbo;
Both have Harry's parents and loved ones' spirits guide him in moments of despair;
Both have Harry temporarily getting distracted from his mission by chasing dreams (PS - the mirror of Erised, DH - his fascination with the hallows to the point that he no longer cares about Horcruxes);
Both feature a DADA teacher that plays a minor role, is in Voldemort's service and they are easily defeated by Harry;
Harry and Voldemort have their only two conversations, but in the first one Voldemort tells Harry how foolish he is, while in the last one it's the other way around.
CoS and HBP:
Actually in many ways HBP feels like a rehash of CoS with mysterious attacks going on at Hogwarts;
We also get to see Harry spying on Draco at Borgin and Burkes;
Ginny's crush on Harry in CoS is paralleled by Harry's crush on Ginny in HBP;
In both we learn about Voldemort's past;
They both feature a book containing notes from a mysterious figure from the past that guides/misleads Harry and eventually he ends up in trouble because of it;
In both Aragog plays a major role;
In both Harry has a final confrontation in a watery cavernous place and duels the DADA teacher;
In both Harry and Draco duel and the duel ends up with Harry being blamed for actions outside his control (CoS - he speaks Parseltongue and is suspected of being Slytherin's heir and in HBP he uses an unknown spell against Draco that almost kills him and everybody

βNow at first sight all this evidence that the universe looks the same whichever direction we look in might seem to suggest there is something special about our place in the universe. In particular, it might seem that if we observe all other galaxies to be moving away from us, then we must be at the center of the universe. There is, however, an alternate explanation: the universe might look the same in every direction as seen from any other galaxy too. This, as we have seen,was Friedmann's second assumption. We have no scientific evidence for, or against, this assumption. We believe it on the grounds of modesty. It would be most remarkable if the universe looked the same in every direction around us, but not around other points in the universe!β - Stephen Hawking in A Brief History of Time

Is this Copernicus coming back to haunt us? That's crazy. We're looking out at the whole universe. I hope this guide will be helpful to theists and atheists alike. Be forewarned, I am not an expert, not even close - merely an interested lay-person. My goal is simply to give an overview of the various concepts and positions, to facilitate informed discussion. Although, to be honest, it is also to get these ideas straight in my own head :)
I will not present every position. Nor will I present any arguments for or against the various positions (both to remain unbiased and for brevity). I would ideally like to give many examples for each concept, but unfortunately, I feel I must cut most of these for brevity (please add some in the comments if you like!)
Everything I say is up for debate and constructive criticism. I may accidentally say something that is misleading, or straight-up incorrect. Please correct me if I do, preferably with a source
Key terms (ie google-able words) have been bolded. Italics are for emphasis
My sources are the SEP, IEP, and Wikipedia
Letβs start with the most basic concept. What is [βtruthβ](https://plato.stanford.edu/entries/truth/)? There are a few theories of truth, with some subtle distinctions between them, but most arenβt relevant here
The most widely held view is the [Correspondence Theory of Truth. This holds that βa proposition is true if and only if it corresponds to realityβ. So, for example, the proportion βsnow is whiteβ is true if and only if is actually the case that snow is white.
Another popular view is the Deflationary Theory of Truth. This view is based on the observation that the sentence "it is true that snow is white" doesn't seem to add any substantial content to simply asserting "the snow is white". The main idea of the deflationary approach is (a) that all that can be significantly said about truth is exhausted by an account of the role of the expression βtrueβ or of the concept of truth in our talk and thought, and (b) that, by contrast with what traditional views assume, this role is neither metaphysically substantive nor explanatory (SEP)
A minority view is the [Coherence Theory of Truth]([https://plato.stanford.edu/entries/truth-coherence](https://plato.stanford.edu/entries/tru
... keep reading on reddit β‘This takes a bit of explaining, but bear with me. If you don't know, a chiasm is a Hebrew literary technique that introduces ideas and then mirrors them back in reverse order or a parallel fashion. This can be shown as ABCABC or ABCCBA. Often, there can be a central idea that is inserted at the center of the chiasm that is meant to be emphasized by the structure (eg. If the idea is X, it would show up as ABCXABC or ABCXCBA).
Now, in the Stormlight Archive, Brandon uses keteks, Vorin poems that are the same forwards and backwards. For example, this is a death rattle from a Herdazian, "Above silence, the illuminating stormsβdying stormsβilluminate the silence above." Notice that the middle word is "dying" and this is a death rattle. This takes on the form of ABCXCBA that I showed above. Another example is how names are balanced or symmetrical. For example, the Vorin names for the Heralds have symmetrical names (Talat, Nalan, etc.) and certain cities have symmetrical names (Urithiru, etc.). These are easy examples of Brandon using chiastic structures, but what if there are bigger ones?
I think others have posted this before, but the title of the Stormlight Archive books are also mirrored off of each other. Words of Radiance and Rhythm of War, Way of Kings and KoW (I'm assuming this will be book 5's abbreviation), and what letter is at the center of these abbreviations? Yup, an "o" which places Oathbringer right in the middle of these five books both sequentially and in the chiastic structure. If you look at the content of each book, they also follow this ABXBA chiastic structure. WoK is all about the Alethi invading the Parshendi homeland to destroy them. In WoR they actually attack the Parshendi home plateau and a new storm is created. Oathbringer is like a bridge between the two where the battle is fought on many fronts and the truth of the Voidbringers is revealed. RoW has the Fused invade the home of the Radiants and a new type of Light is discovered. So perhaps KoW will have sometime of full-scale invasion of Roshar or perhaps the Radiants will be pushed to the brink of destruction somewhere?
It's been a while since I have read these books, so maybe I'm forgetting other key moments. I could also be wanting this to be true and reading into the events of these books, but this totally feels like something that Brandon Sanderson is capable of and willing to do. What I would really be interested in is what the middle chapter of Oathbringer is about since

βItβs Carl Watson. Heβs been workinβ for them all along. I shoulda seen this coming.β Eli pummelled the wall. βStupid, stupid, stupid. Thatβs why the electrics went haywire before, Carl siphoned energy from the grid to power his clonin' device.β
Okay. Things had officially gone too far. Either I was in the middle of an intense fever dream, or I'd picked up a concussion during the tremor. βEli, itβs not a clone. Itβs a...someone.β
Eli pressed his forearm into my throat. βDonβt turn traitor on me Austin. I need to know I can trust you or weβre both fucked.β
βOkay, okay,β I rasped, my voice two tones higher than usual. βYouβre right.β
He let go.
I had a huge problem: real or not, this Eli was just as unhinged as the last, and my only option was to play along. βSo, whatβs the plan?β I rasped.
βWe roll up on Carl and blow the device.β
This sounded like a perfect opportunity to get rid of Eli. βOkay. But Iβll need a weapon.β
His demeanor became that of a child on Christmas morning. βIβve got a whole arsenal in the kitchen. You stay here, keep an eye on him, I'll go get you a rifle.β
I gave a thumbs-up, still breathing heavily, as he practically skipped out the door.
The moment Eli left, I got to work on my doppelgangerβs restraints. βLook, I donβt understand what's going on, but Iβm gonna get you out of here. Just stay quiet, okay?β

Since there seemed to be an entire roll of duct tape around his mouth, I focused solely on his restraints, then said, βOkay, letβs go.β

Historians agree that humans invented money before they invented written language. Think about that. We were able to agree on how to exchange value before we were able to write down our thoughts. The origins of money are more fundamental to human nature than our desire to communicate, in a way.
Money served three purposes:
Starting with the barter system, humans moved on to using common goods with intrinsic value (such as cows and bags of wheat) and then to units like cowrie shells, glass beads which were more convenient for accounting because of their divisibility. There was a problem with this system, though. You guessed it.

People who had access to the means of production of cowrie shells or glass beads could flood the market, and the more money there was in the market, the less value it had. This is what happened in Africa when glass beads merchants from Europe imported loads of glass beads and made them worthless as a form of money. (This could be one of the first recorded instances of inflation).
Gold was a solution to the cheap creation of money. Mining gold is a difficult task.

Not only is this not true, but you can talk to 32 NPCs within just the two starting underground areas.
I will explain how I managed this, but I do not recommend trying this. I am not sure, but it is highly likely that more NPCs become available when you reach the third area of the underground, which I believe is after the sixth gym. While it would be a pain to grind an under-levelled Spiritomb, this took me over five hours, and it is highly likely that it will take you longer.
For starters, I need to explain how the NPCs work (or at least how I think they work). For each segment of tunnel between the hideaways, there appear to be three spots where NPCs can spawn. Only one NPC will spawn at a time. The NPCs that spawn here are always the same. There are approximately fifteen of these tunnel segments between the large central portion of the map, and the south west portion of the map. This would add up to around 45 NPCs to talk to, but a lot of NPCs appear two or three times (some even more), so I was only able to find 29. I went about this by going to each area, then entering and leaving until I had found all three spawn locations and talked to the NPCs. Two things to keep in mind here are that the same NPC can spawn in multiple locations of the same segment, and that some NPCs are different, but have the same sprite. After doing this with every area, I had spoken to 29 different NPCs.
I thought I had exhausted all my options until I realised two parts of the map work differently. Either side of Sunlit Cavern, under Oreburgh City, are two symmetrical tunnel segments. Unlike every other tunnel segment, these two both have four spawn locations. Additionally, unlike the other spawn locations, these do not have fixed NPCs, and this is how I was able to find the last 4 NPCs I needed. This also took up the majority of the time I spent doing this. It seems like any NPC can spawn here, so the chances of an NPC you haven't spoken to spawning are very low. This is made worse by the fact that a large majority of the time, the same NPC will spawn, no matter the spawn point. On the left side it is a breeder named Elishah and on the right side it is a girl named Leticia. I'm not sure if it is pure coincidence, but I found I had more luck in finding NPCs ot

##interview with Haypost director | Red mailboxes? | 1-hour pharmacy deliveries | Unified service centers
Reporter: we noticed red mailboxes on Yerevan streets. Are these only for the capital?
Haypost: you'll soon find them in all tourist areas. It's a tradition when a tourist comes to Armenia and wants to send a postcard to their country. These mailboxes are not cheap so we're focusing on tourist areas.
Reporter: how often will you collect the mail?
Haypost: once a day.
Reporter: the international delivery fees sharply increased earlier this year so you wouldn't operate at a loss. Did that help?
Haypost: the trend became negative in 2017 and continued that way. This year our losses were cut in half compared to 2020 because of the hike. Next year we will have positive Φ300M. When the government took over Haypost in 2020, we were in our worst financial state. We are recovering now.
Reporter: your buildings are in f--ked up condition in provinces. You said it's physically impossible to renovate them in 200 settlements. Do you have the money to rebuild them?
Haypost: we don't have the income yet, so the government has to fund the repairs. We're yet to confirm the 2022 Haypost budget. We would like to receive enough funding to build universal service centers. These centers aren't just post offices, they include five various government/financial/pharmacy services. These are the so-called "government embassies in provinces".
They help save resources. We have them Gyumri and Ijevan, and soon in Vanadzor, before a wider rollout.
Haypost has a new digital platform. Every department is online. A new app, an online pharmacy. You can deliver medicine to any part of the country.
Reporter: will you open more pharmacies?
Haypost: we'll open two more in Yerevan this year. Many villages don't have pharmacies. Provincial residents can visit the new pharmacy or use the mobile app and we will deliver the medication to the province the next day. This is already available in some locations, but we want to make 1-hour deliveries possible in Yerevan by having one such pharmacy in every district. We'll open 7 pharmacies in Yerevan next year.
Reporter: several months ago a large number of Haypost workers were terminated after failing the certification exam. They complained that they were asked questions unrelated to the profession.

Major Antonina Volkova yelled into the terminal, βSERIOUSLY! You have got to be fucking kidding me ambassador! First a horrific planetary disaster, then first contact with βfriendlyβ xenos who are now bringing a huge ass warship here as well, but even better than that, 3 more likely huge ass warships hostile to the first xenos warship are coming in right behind them! What exactly do you expect us to do? β
Hakim thought she took it rather well overall, and her summation was pretty much dead on.β
βMajor, command is going all in on this situation. By the time the 3 ships arrive, virtually our entire fleet will be here. We are going to attempt a first contact with these Dilgresh as soon as they arrive in system. I have a good feeling about what Mother has told us, and they have started to share technical details about their ships, weβve already started design and test of some of it, like their inertial dampers. BUT, there is not yet full faith in the relationship. They could be lying about the Dilgresh, their intentions, their hostility and so on. I have viewed the first contact report with them that Mother provided. It wasnβt pretty. They made it to the point where both the Empire and the Dilgresh had working translation software. Then a captain or admiral or whatever they have on one of their ships opened direct contact with βWe are pleased to meet you. We look forward to your service to us as our slaves and our larderβ. They began launching fighter craft by the thousands and kilometer long battleships even while he was speaking to the Empire. Their first battle was a slaughter. The Empires shipβs mother recorded all of the atrocities and was able to share that information with the reinforcements that pushed the Dilgresh back out of the system before it ceased to function. They have been fighting what was basically trench warfare in that system for the last 15 cycles. It appears something has changed in that stalemate.β
βDo you honestly think our fleet has a snowballs chance in hell against those behemoths? I mean look at the size and what they are carrying, at least according to this briefing. Those 3 ships have at least 150 times the tonnage of our entire fleet.β The major interjected. βAnd theyβre obligate carnivores with no scruples

The central narrative is collective history as is known. But, even then, this belief is predicated upon more basic assumptions of life. The degree to which what can be said about another remains forever in a realm of faith. Even our senses can't be trusted as they are only perceived.
Because of this, what can be said is that to whatever degree the choice may be considerable, it remains based upon a faith. A faith according to what, though?
The highest ideal which inspires faith may be to simply avoid pain and so manifests as a compliant, unquestioning nature. In the case of wisdom, beauty, or tradition, decisions are in support of their manifestation and expansion in perception.
The core tenet of collective history and science more generally is in faith of a constant, consistent, objective reality. The heart of reality itself a permanent similarity or Absolute Truth, whose attributes are static, symmetrical, solipsistic. Those ideals; wisdom, beauty, and tradition are applying some of these attributes of Truth often in order to fully prioritze the order of their perception in momentary awareness and further to valuate a hierachy of life's perceptions.
Thus what is sought after and what is most safe and real a mooring for the senses is what is most perceived. Much behavior should now become apparent. Attachments to the steady, stable retreats from blinding lucid perception of Truth. Averting eyes in stable perception of a pale reflection of Truth. An idol to an idol.
This worship of something lesser than Truth as more valuable, it dominates increasingly more of the passive perception, the acceptance of it as stable and real. It becomes indifferent, it becomes what one is. In that way, it is upheld as the highest ideal of wisdom, beauty, and tradition.
Now, the trick that has just been played is the quiet positioning of language which has framed a narrative as a wandering soul looking to find certainty in order to live life accordingly with some permanent overarching ideal, even if that meant real anarchy or chaos as the "realest" truth.
No, instead *we are Truth* becoming aware of itself and so framing the narrative of perception itself, actively or passively. It's not the shallow social identity that is the problem, but the insistence of it which natur

But it didn't make sense. How could he have possibly singled my thoughts out? Maybe it was just a coincidence. It was possible he'd just lost his focus and got tagged with the ball. But that wouldn't explain what he just said to Fena.
"Could it have been something I said?" She asked.
"No," I said grimly. "I think it... might have been something I thought."
"What do you- oh," she stopped. "Were you thinking something particularly mean?"
"Uhh..."
"Gill."
"I have a tendency to... get competitive." It was a half-truth. "I don't always talk trash, but I do think

This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.

The history and growth of Bitcoin in the last 13 years has been nothing short of phenomenal. Starting off as an idea that only enthusiasts on the fringe started adopting, Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies have grown to dominate the news, create fanatic followings in social media, and worry governments about where this is all headed.

What is Bitcoin? Where does its value come from? Does it have the properties needed to make it a viable form of currency? Can it fuel a thriving economy? What are Bitcoinβs weak points? Which are its competitors? How will governments respond to its rise to power? Can Bitcoin become the new Gold Standard?
Strap in for a rollercoaster ride through the past, present and future of Bitcoin!

Money served three purposes:
Starting with the barter system, humans moved on to using common goods with intrinsic value (such as cows and bags of wheat) and then to units like cowrie shells, glass beads which were more convenient for accounting because of their divisibility.
Floo
