In fact, this is not a person. Bungie looks like translated wrong, or might be missing early concept. In French, 'son' is translated into 'sound'. Did I said seychelles had been colony island of france? Yes. This make very nice change. 'mad sound of seychelles'. Now we need to find out what is 'mad sound'.

So, this is the true meaning of 'mad som of seychelles' sparrow. Disciple of the lands of palms is the giant tortoise!
I hope this doesnt get buried but I did alot of research on this sparrow when I first found it. My findings made me seem to myself that I had gone quite mad so I never posted them, but here we go. I posted this in another redditors comments as I see this Sparrow has now come up. The Sparrow has the following flavor text associated with it "Disciple of the Land of Palms". I believe someone at Bungie has laid the groundwork of a very highbrow mythological joke or pun.
The Island of Seychelles has alot of mythology and sailor legends surrounding it mainly because of the Coco De Mer trees that inhabit the island. It is the only source of the double coconut or sometimes referred to as the sea coconut in the world. This coconut resembles the hips and buttocks of a human female. Even stranger, mainstream science doesnt fully understand its pollination process but the male pollinator husk resembles a very large human male phallic shape. You might see where we are going here.
Common mythology of the 17th century considered the island to be that of Eden and the Coco de Mer trees to hold the apple of knowledge, good and evil and all that. The sexual shapes in the tree have been likened to the temptation of Eve.
If anyone knows the humor in our own legends and mythology this will make sense. The trees and their shapes give credence to sexual desire. An old wives tale in humanity was that sexual gratification or self stimulation( ie masturbation) would drive one mad. The Mad Son of Seychelles are the disciples of their own palm. Not the tree, their hand.
