A list of puns related to "Backcountry Hut"
Looking to book a ski hut for my husbands birthday- any suggestions of best ski huts nearby? Iβve looked at Opus or Last Dollar but appreciate any input or new suggestions!
Heading to Revelstoke for the first time this winter. Originally my intent was to hit the resort and do a bit of resort skiing and a bit of guided touring but now I've started looking into backcountry hut touring (heli to hut and tour for 4 - 5 days or so).
Seems like a dream, but I've actually never toured before. I'm in really good shape and I cross country a lot (I know this is different) but I'm wondering if I should just stick to the Revelstoke mountain resort for the week or so I'm there.
Thoughts?
Is there any good backcountry hit trips around bend or mt. Hood? Iβve been trying to research but three sisters is too long and seems quite expensive. Cascade huts Barlow butte seemed perfect but apparently they closed down indefinitely.
Is that hut owned by some else/ still available? Any suggestions greatly appreciated!
We live in Eastern Ontario and love going to Quebec to hike. We especially love the backcountry huts. Are there similar options in upstate New York? High Peaks Area?
Looking for suggestions on areas with good opportunities for long day trips with neat sights/features (hot springs, waterfall, canyon, etc) OR a longer trip that has free/cheap/non reservation hut.
Based in Utah, but willing to check out Eastern Oregon, MT, northern AZ, etc.
Looking at 2 or so days of skiing. No need for groomed trails but some packed surface would be nice. NOT looking for any sort of true backcountry trip
Thanks!
Hi all,
We're planning a 4-night backcountry snowshoe hut-to-hut trip, and are a bit overwhelmed with meal planning. The huts have wood stoves and are warm inside, but we anticipate temperatures outside will be well below freezing. No running water (although access to water usually through ice in adjacent lakes or through snow melt) or electricity.
Freeze-dried is obviously the easiest option (and is what we lean on for our longer backpacking trips), but we were hoping to do some slightly more elaborate meals, taking advantage of the warm space in which to cook. We're a bit intimidated by the inevitable freeze/thaw cycle our food would go through, though. Also, we're not thrilled about packing leftovers from hut to hut, so everything would need to be 2 servings worth.
Any suggestions? Breakfast is easy - lots of shelf stable eggs, pancakes, oatmeal, etc. Lunch is also fairly easy - cured meats, tuna, tortillas, chocolate, cheese, etc. Dinner is where we'd like to go a bit more elaborate, though. We'd value your suggestions!
I'm trying to find out the name of the hut near Brohm. I'm not meaning the main buildings but here https://goo.gl/maps/t5QC6nRiUop
I've seen it a few time when been sledding up there but can't find out any information about it.
