so like strongyloides, ascaris also has it's pulmonary phase before it can mature into adults.
what i don't get is that, for strongyloides there is a need for it since it penetrates the skin while in its filariform larvae, the pulmonary form provides a pathway for it to enter the GI tract where it can mature.
for ascaris however, this seems counterproductive since ascariasis is contracted by ingesting it's eggs. why would it go through the pulmonary pathway only to end up in GI tract again? what purpose does the pulmonary phase serve for ascaris?
