Can anyone explain me the safty system on the Arosa Line? The small red light in the cab turned on and now I can't move the train anymore?
Domestic travel, but this was the first time in the Alps since October, by far the longest gap since I moved here. With the Covid situation since the 2nd wave hit I have stuck to the more local middle-land/Jura/Emmental, or holiday (office) with family just over the border in the Black Forest.
Thursday 27th to Monday 31st May 2021.
Goals:
Check out a new area. I hadnβt been up to Arosa yet, and the line up there was the only section of the Rhaetian Bahn network that I hadnβt ridden.
See the bears.
---Covid---
Numbers have been low and the country has been opening up (indoor dining was even possible as of the 31st).
A private flat in ski resort in off-season ensured the destination was quiet. Not many people were about in Arosa, and it felt like the building we stayed in was otherwise empty.
Quiet trains each way. After rush hour on the Thursday, and home just before it started on Monday.
---Arosa---
A village/resort in GraubΓΌnden. Joined with Lenzerheid in the next valley to create a big skiing/mountain biking network. I don't think it is well known internationally, but it doesn't need to be when it is an easy resort to access for 3+ big Swiss cities.
There is an easy connection up from Chur (pronounced a bit like βcor blimeyβ or Coors beer without the s) by hourly direct train. The train journey is worth it by itself. The sudden change from the middle of a well-to-do part of the city into a steep and wild gorge is quite a surprise. Like the rest of the Rhaetion Bahn you sometimes ask yourself which maniac built this or even decided to herd cows up there in the first place. It isnβt as impressive as the Bernina Line, but it isnβt far off.
Arosa itself is at the end of a valley with rocky peaks towering over it (though surprisingly despite how high the peaks look they are only 2600m or less). It is quite high at 1750m, and the valley curls away below it, so the village feels much more remote than it really is. I wouldn't say it has charm (not in the rustic village sense anyway) but it is a nice place. It clearly is mostly quite new and dedicated to serving tourism, but the way the village wraps itself around a few hillsides and in the trees keeps it from feeling obtrusive. You can usually only see a small part of it.
There isnβt any real center. The station is kind of a focal point for visitors and activities, but there are shops and restaurants spread about through the
... keep reading on reddit β‘seems like a little more feminine style than the Kyoto in some ways.
Would love to see photos if you got 'em and pros and cons.
Has anyone actually made it down the hill without speeding ? Iβm really starting to notice all the shortcomings of this route. The weight of everything feels completely off. This has me concerned for the new Cornwall route, Rivet have really dropped the ball on their two routes. Has anyone felt this way or am I wrong ?
EDIT
Iβm a person that buys everything, Arosa has really made me reconsider doing this
Personally I love it. The loco, the coaches, everything is so unique, and even though it's the wrong gauge you're still able to drive it on the scenario planner as well.
The scenery is generally good, though some mountain areas could do with improvement.

So the arosa line is the first service I have done that is mixed passenger and freight but when I have both on the train which speed should I be following passenger or freight? Would this be the same for other routes?
Hi Folks,
I have a problem on the new Arosa line that wasn't covered during the tutorial.
Sometimes out of nowhere there is a yellow signal beeping in the cabin, shortly followed by a red signal and an emergency break of the train.
That happens completely independent from the actuall signals on the track. (I allways had green signals) So I have no idea, why this is happening. (I also didn't drive over speed limit)
After the train is brought to a stop automaticly the red light in the cabin remains and I'm absolutly unable to get the train moving again. I almost certainly pressed every button in the cockpit several times, without a solution.
Is someone here with enough knowledge to help me out?
