A list of puns related to "Apostle Of The Gentiles"
Hi, the other day I was asking as to when Jesus started saving the Gentiles, and today I came upon a story in Matthew 8.
A centurion in Capernaum was asking Jesus to heal one of his servants, and he told Jesus he thought he was undeserving of his grace.
10When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to those following him, βTruly I tell you, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith. 11I say to you that many will come from the east and the west, and will take their places at the feast with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. 12But the subjects of the kingdom will be thrown outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.β
Looking at what Jesus said, the centurion didn't seem to belong to the Isaraelites, therefore, a Gentile. Also, I know a centurion was a low-ranked military official in the Roman Empire, and at the time, the region of Galilee was a part of the Roman Empire, so many subjects from other regions of the Empire could be stationed here as well.
It was written in the Bible that tax collectors were shunned and loathed vy the Israelites in Jesus's time. Tax collectors were an official of the Empire, so I wonder if Matthew the Apostle was a Gentile.
I'm sorry for making so many speculations. I don't know a lot about the historical background. What do you think?
Lately a lot has been on my mind and I really need a way to talk about this. I figured being asked questions would be ideal. Please, ask me anything. :)
Just for clarification, I'm not saying it shouldn't be regarded as a Jewish tragedy, of course it should. But it just seems like Jews/Poles should share the "victimhood" of that terrible time.
This passage just seems to conflict with the theology that Christianity applies to gentiles, as we find in Paul. Despite the term being very modern and vague, was the historical Jesus a "Jewish-supremacist"?

Message from the writer of this weekβs script, βThe Gentileβ:
ββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββ
Hey, everyone! First off, I would like to thank everyone who voted for my logline.
As a few of you know, I submitted a much earlier draft of βThe Gentileβ to this subreddit a little over a year ago. Thanks to your infinitely helpful notes, it made it to the Quarterfinal Round of the 2017 Academy Nicholl Fellowship (aside from the fleeting ego-boost, nothing came from that).
The script has come a long way since then, yet it still has a long way to go before I feel comfortable moving forward with it (I plan on getting it produced as well as starring in it). And thatβs where yβall come in.
By this point, my two main focuses in terms of rewrites have been finding a balance between the script's comedic and dramatic elements, and fixing the pacing issues. The latter is my primary concern with its current draft.
Although the script is currently the tightest and most tonally smooth it has ever been, there is one thing that sticks out like a sore thumb every time I read through it: the montage. Iβve spent MONTHS just on trying to figure out how I can develop the relationship between the two main characters without resorting to either of these two things: 1) A montage or 2) Adding another 10+ pages to the script. So far, I canβt figure it out.
That being said, feel free to tear apart every other aspect of the script. Thank you all very much for your time!
Cheers, Omid
UPDATE: I am beyond touched by all the thorough and amazing feedback I've gotten over the past day or so. This community is truly a godsend and I know exactly who to thank i
... keep reading on reddit β‘There are multiple times in which Jesus said his disciples would not taste death and would still be alive when the "Second Coming would occur. What's more, the disciples believed it, using such phrases as "then we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord", as well as Paul warning believers that they in should not marry, because Jesus was coming back soon. Even in Revelation, John claimed he had a vision from Jesus saying he was coming soon.
The Apostles all died with no return. 2000 years later there has been no return. Jesus lied, or only thought he would return but didn't know. Therefore, Christianity should have faded away then and there, and if it weren't for the Romans enforcing it it might have gone the way of the Greek and Egyptian stories: myths that were once seen as religious truth.
EDIT: By "discarded" I mean "as a widespread belief of faith" not "as something that was historically present". More along the lines of how we view the mythologies of the Mayans, Greeks, Ancient Romans, etc.
EDIT 2: Have a lot of passages:
"Immediately after the tribulation of those days, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. And then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming upon the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he will send out his angels with a trumpet blast, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other. βLearn a lesson from the fig tree. When its branch becomes tender and sprouts leaves, you know that summer is near. In the same way, when you see all these things, know that he is near, at the gates. Amen, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things have taken place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. (Matthew 24:29-35)
"There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.β (Matthew 16:28)
"Amen, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things have taken place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. (Mark 13:30-31)
"He also said to them, βAmen, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see that the kingdom of God has come in power.β (Mark 9:1)

-Deuteronomy 33:26
Alrighty, so today weβre going to finish up chapter 33 before we move to the final and last chapter of the Torah.
From verse 26 Moses is now addressing all the tribes of Israel as a group instead of individually pronouncing blessings on them.
His final words to Israel is the same message with which he started.
It is a plea that the people would truly understand who their God is and what He is capable of.
Again, referring to God as YESHURUN (the βupright oneβ), Moses reminds the people that there is nothing more pointless or futile than to succumb to worshipping other gods because none of them will ever come close to the awesomeness of Hashem.
Moses reminds the people that it is HASHEM whoβ¦
β¦enables Israel to dwell in the land in safety and security.
β¦provides Israel abundant rains so that they will have plenty of food.
β¦delivered Israel from bondage in Egypt.
β¦constantly keeps His eye over Israel so as to protect them from all forms of danger whether seen or unseen (especially corona viruses from the nations).
Finally, at the close, weβre told if Israel is faithful to Hashem, He will make their enemies fall on their faces before them and depending on the Bible translation, weβre given this imagery of Israel placing her foot on top of the enemyβs back.
This was actually a common image in the ancient Middle East expressing the idea of how a victor has conquered and now has complete control over the enemy.
Bottomline, since Hashem will has got your back and will cover every need both seen and unseen and both expected and unexpected, there should never ever be any reason for Israel to turn to the gods, lifestyles, or philosophies of the gentile nations that surround them.
See you all next time as we begin the final chapter of the Torah.
NEXT TIME WE BEGIN DEUTERONOMY CHAPTER 34
