Liver and Brain Protective Effect of Sulfated Polysaccharides from Residue of Lion's Mane Medicinal Mushroom, Hericium erinaceus (Agaricomycetes), on D-Galactoseβˆ’Induced Aging Mice , abstract [ 10 - 2021 ]

This work describes the preparation of sulfated Hericium erinaceus residue polysaccharides (SHRPs) and investigates their antioxidant and antiaging effects on D-galactoseβˆ’induced aging mice.

The results indicated that the degree of SO42- substitution was 0.47 Β± 0.22 for SHRPs.

In vitro analysis and in vivo animal experiments manifested that SHRPs could alleviate aging properties by scavenging radicals, elevating enzyme activities, and reducing malondialde-hyde content, thus improving serum biochemical indices and enhancing immunological activity.

Liver and brain injuries of mice could be remitted by SHRP interventions. Structural characteristics of SHRPs in this work were elucidated by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry, and the results suggest that SHRPs could be used as an effective dietary supplement and functional food for prevention of aging and age-related diseases.

Protective Effects of Chaga Medicinal Mushroom, Inonotus obliquus (Agaricomycetes) Extract on ?-Amyloid-Induced Neurotoxicity in PC12 Cells and Aging Rats, In Vitro and In Vivo Studies , abstract [ 07 - 2021 ]

Modulation of the Ξ²-amyloid (AΞ²) -induced neurotoxicity has emerged as a possible therapeutic approach to ameliorate the onset and progression of Alzheimer’s disease (AD).

The present study aimed to evaluate the protective effect of extracts of I. obliquus (IOE) on AΞ²-induced Alzheimer’s disease rats model and PC12 cells.

In aging rats, IOE can decrease the production of amyloid precursor protein (APP) and the levels of AΞ² plaques in hippocampus after IOE treatment in the brain by an action that is associated with a lowering of IL‑1Ξ², TNF‑α level.

The findings indicate that IOE has potential neuroprotective actions against AΞ²- induced Alzheimer’s disease mouse model, which may through downstream molecules involved in inflammation.

I'm unfamiliar with the scientific terminologies. Which one of these would be more likely to be similar in properties?

Randomized Clinical Trial for the Evaluation of Immune Modulation by Yogurt Enriched with Ξ²-Glucans from Lingzhi or Reishi Medicinal Mushroom, Ganoderma lucidum (Agaricomycetes), in Children from Medellin, Colombia

> Pattern recognition receptor (PRR) agonists are promising for use in modulating immune responses in clinical settings characterized by immune immaturity or deficiency. Ξ²-Glucans derived from Ganoderma lucidum have demonstrated immune-modulatory activity both in vitro and in vivo. To evaluate the immunomodulatory activity of orally administered Ξ²-glucans, a randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled clinical study was performed in asymptomatic children, aged 3 to 5 years old, from Medellin, Colombia. Primary outcomes were the circulating CD8+ T lymphocyte and natural killer cell counts; secondary outcomes were circulating lymphocyte counts (total, CD3+, and CD4+ T cells), serum concentrations of total immunoglobulin A and cytokines, and various hematological parameters. The treatments were administered daily for 12 weeks, and physical and laboratory evaluations were performed at days 0 and 84. Children in the group receiving a yogurt with Ξ²-glucans presented a significantly higher absolute count of peripheral blood total lymphocytes (CD3+, CD4+, and CD8+ T cells) than that in the group receiving placebo. The interventions were safe and well tolerated; no abnormal increases in serum creatinine or hepatic aminotransferases occurred, and adherence was higher than 90% in the intervention groups. This study demonstrates that Ξ²-glucans from G. lucidum increase the frequency of immune system cells in the peripheral blood; these cells are critical in the defense against infectious threats in asymptomatic children 3 to 5 years old. These findings warrant longer controlled clinical trials that aim to evaluate the efficacy of Ξ²-glucans in preventing infections in healthy children and to define their potential to enhance lymphoid cell number and functions in various lymphoid immune deficiencies.

SERIOUS: This subreddit needs to understand what a "dad joke" really means.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

Just because it's a joke, doesn't mean it's a dad joke

Alot of great jokes get posted here! However just because you have a joke, doesn't mean it's a dad joke.

THIS IS NOT ABOUT NSFW, THIS IS ABOUT LONG JOKES, BLONDE JOKES, SEXUAL JOKES, KNOCK KNOCK JOKES, POLITICAL JOKES, ETC BEING POSTED IN A DAD JOKE SUB

Try telling these sexual jokes that get posted here, to your kid and see how your spouse likes it.. if that goes well, Try telling one of your friends kid about your sex life being like Coca cola, first it was normal, than light and now zero , and see if the parents are OK with you telling their kid the "dad joke"

I'm not even referencing the NSFW, I'm saying Dad jokes are corny, and sometimes painful, not sexual

So check out r/jokes for all types of jokes

r/unclejokes for dirty jokes

r/3amjokes for real weird and alot of OC

r/cleandadjokes If your really sick of seeing not dad jokes in r/dadjokes

Punchline !

Edit: this is not a post about NSFW , This is about jokes, knock knock jokes, blonde jokes, political jokes etc being posted in a dad joke sub
