Are other people having a bug with the aerodromes or am I missing something?

CONTEXT: I'm finishing out a STRONG second place finish as the Japanese, having established dominance on my continent. We got around 60 turns left. There's no way I can unseat the 1st place player at this point but that doesn't mean I won't punish the rest of the globe with my iconic planes. So all my cities build aerodromes... only 1 of them can build planes. Every other option says I have an invalid spawn point.

Is there something I'm misunderstanding about aerodromes or is this a bug? I know it says you can't build them on rivers.

IDK if this is important but my steam account still says it's the October Update Beta even though I tried a reinstall on Saturday.

Would love to finish this game by burning the world if possible

Aerodromes could use a Buff

I don't know about everyone else but Aerodromes are by far my least built specialty district. They come very late in the game and don't feel particularly useful. Sure Air units are quite strong for domination but I tend to find I don't usually end up needing them anyway.

In general Aerodromes just seem to be an incredibly poor representation of how important flight was to human advancement. In real life flight is used for so much more than warfare. So why is that the only use for Aerodromes in the game?

Where are the bonuses to tourism and trade from Aerodromes as air travel is a huge part of both these things in real life? Aerodromes should buff trade routes and Airports should give a tourism multiplier to their city. It would make Aerodromes much better and make them useful for other victory types besides domination.

I just feels odd that flight in civ 6 isn't really a big deal. Most games you'll probably never even build a single Aerodrome.

Untowered aerodrome - backtracking

Last weekend was at an untowered aerodrome, single runway with a single taxiway about half way along. I had started up, was doing my checks while allowing the engine to warm. Had been listening on the CTAF.

After about 5 minutes, I was ready to go. The runway, final, base and downwind were clear. I broadcast I was entering RWY18 and backtracking. Shortly therafter I heard the following "AIRFIELD, XYZ joining BASE for RWY 18". I was on the RWY by this point and transmitted again "AIRFIELD, ABC is backtracking RWY 18, AIRFIELD". Then about 30 seconds later "AIRFIELD, XYZ is turning FINAL for RWY18". So I transmitted "XYZ, AIRFIELD RWY 18 not CLEAR. ABC is backtracking. You need to go around. I say again, go around"

By this time I was at the end of the runway and decided to sit there just in case XYZ decided to land anyway. Fortunately, they executed a go-around and departed the zone.

I found the whole experience quite unnerving. XYZ's transmissions were quite garbled, so I'm wondering if they had radio probs and didn't hear my transmissions, only realising the RWY wasn't clear when they turned final and saw me.

Thoughts?

OSM: does "aeroway=aerodrome" tag block PoGo spawns?

I've found a semi-reputable list of which OSM tags block spawns, but that list doesn't include "aerodrome."

It makes sense for runways and taxiways and whatnot to block game activity, but small airports in my country (NZ) are defined as aerodromes, and the boundary of the aerodrome encompasses plenty of areas that shouldn't have game activity blocked.

Does anyone have experience or knowledge of how the aerodrome tag behaves? Thanks.

Petition to construct a fishing pond in the Lion's Arch Aerodrome

Look, despite our claims otherwise, the hard-core end-game content is not raids. It's wasting time jumping around in the aerodrome.

While jumping around is of course very fun, some differentiation in activities might promote the longevity of wasting time.

So... let us raiders fish while wasting time in the Aerodrome.
