If this is how a seaplane takes off on land, how does it land on land? Or can it?

Why aren't seaplanes more popular?
I've heard countless pilots say that getting their seaplane rating was the most fun they've ever had flying. In states where water is public, why arent seaplanes more popular? I would expect a higher percentage of planes to be seaplanes in places like Michigan, wisconsin, minnesota, maine, Florida, etc.
Give me a $100,000 budget and I'll take a Lake, Searey, or amphibious Cessna over a mooney or bonanza any day.
Why arent you a seaplane pilot? Why do you think it is so unpopular?

Are seaplanes/amphibious aircrafts worth owning?
Edit for some extra info:
Location would be: base at a lake, close to mountains and other lakes and a 120 miles to the nearest coast.
Mission would be leisure, mainly distances of a max of 250 mi.

British wingless seaplane to strike a German submarine, called Sea Skimmer armed with a machine gun and a 20-mm Oerlikon cannon. For attacking submerged U-boats it carried four depth charges, which rest on the catamaran floats under the hull's stern. These can be replaced by torpedoes.

I live in Florida. I have a dock, a river behind my house, and I have no HOA. Can I park a seaplane at my dock and use the river as a runway? Its just a boat with wings.
This sounds like a joke but it isnt. I've always wanted a plane but they sound like a logistical nightmare having to go to an airport to use them. A helictoper solves this because I can park it in my yard, but they're a million dollars for a not-R44. A seaplane also solves this, but isnt a million dollars!

Seaplane update
One year ago today, the NCA stated that Seaplanes could be operating regular flights to and from the South Coast and/or Sydney by December 2021. There hasn't been any news and updates on this proposal, so has it been delayed, shelved or is still in consultation processes?
