Just wanted to share with everyone my experience with aqara power switches (no neutral) that the combination of βuse as wireless switchβ option and using automations to turn on a smart light tied to that switch is problematic if you ever lose power.
The switches do not automatically return power to the smart lights and your automations will run but fail to turn on the smart light. You must manually turn every switch back on in the app for your βwireless switchβ + automation to work again. Very frustrating!
Edit: I found a solution, still testing: use wireless switch setting and the automation turn on the said switch AND then toggle the on/off of the smart light. Seems to be working!!!
I feel like this should exist, but I've been having trouble finding the right way to describe and look for it.
I have an existing light fixture, tied to two switches. I would like to add a second fixture, wirelessly, that works with the existing fixture. It seems like this could exist as a smart lightbulb, which, when it receives power, sends a signal to another fixture to power on.
Any thoughts/leads?
Iβm looking for a βtoggleβ type wireless remote light switch. There are quite a few βrockerβ type wireless remote light switches available from various online stores, but I would like the βtoggleβ style wireless light switch to match the rest of the home and I canβt find a single one. The wireless switch kit I have seen online (GoConex) comes with a small module that you hardwire into light fixture and a wireless βrockerβ switch that you adhere to the wall. I am looking for the exact same setup but instead it needs to be a βtoggleβ style wireless switch. I understand the reasoning behind these wireless switches being made βrockersβ do the thickness, but I am not against cutting in a j-box to fit the a wireless βtoggleβ switch if there even is one available.
In a nutshell- I do not like the location the existing light switch is installed and I would like to wirelessly place a separate switch at a separate location in home that controls the same fixture. I donβt really care how it can be done, just as long as itβs wireless, and a βtoggleβ style switch. I hope this all makes sense.
Can anyone point me in the right direction, Please??
I took down a ceiling fan that I am replacing with a standard light fixture. Unfortunately the ceiling fan was not on a switch and the light fixture will be permanently on. Rather than run romex and add a switch I would like to go with a wireless switch. Not looking for anything fancy, just would like to wire in the receiver to the light and mount the switch on the wall. Preferably I am looking for something that doesnt have a battery on the switch. I've seen a few but they were over a 100 bucks on amazon. Thanks for any help with this.
Is there a way to use the wireless mini switch to turn a hue light on and off with single press?
I can only find solution to single press one then double press off in the Home app
My living room has a wired light switch that controls a single outlet of a single receptacle. This is a pain because I have a couple floor lamps around the room that I would like to come on at the same time.
what I want
Ideally I would replace the existing light switch with a "wireless" one that controls (a) the physical wired switch it replaced, and (b) remotely control a couple other receptacles (plug-in is fine). Bonus points for being a dimmer. Does this exist?
I do not want a "mount anywhere" switch because it will look out of place with the existing switch box.
What might work
I "mount anywhere" switch that fits into a standard multi-switch box, assuming it can control the existing circuit somehow
I'm also open to a smart home device if it is physically wired and costs under, say, $200.
I am really struggling with what seems to be a simple problem.... how to effectively turn on lights plugged into outlets using a switch or remote attached on the wall. Said another way, Iβm trying to create a wireless light switch to use when entering/leaving the room.
Hereβs the current setup. I have two sets of lights that Iβm currently controlling with Leviton plug-in outlets/dimmers, and turning them on with a Lutron connected bulb remote installed on the wall. All are configured in Wink, and the connected bulb remote is running shortcuts to turn the outlets on and off. Sounds simple and seems like it should work, right? Unfortunately, itβs painfully slow when it works (5, 10, sometimes 15 seconds), and frequently doesnβt work at all.
With Wink currently in a state of uncertainty, Iβm trying to fix this problem while plotting my next major move. Looking at combinations of zwave and zigbee components to potentially use with wink. Struggling to find a good solution. Looking at Hubitat and Caseta bridge as a better solution for the future of my whole setup (which includes some other lutron components), but the connected bulb remote doesnβt work with either the Hubitat or Caseta bridge.
Has anyone solved this seemingly simple problem in an effective way Iβm not considering?
I recently swapped out regular light bulbs in my room for some LED WiFi ones that I connected to the Smart Life app and then linked to Google Home for voice activation.
In order for the lights to work I have left the old manual switch on the wall in a permanent "on" state, and have only been using my voice/app to control the lights.
I'm wondering if there is a physical switch/button that can give me the option to control the lights without my voice or phone. I know there are a lot of WiFi switches that need to be wired up to the house and fit like a normal light switch, but I need something that doesn't require any wiring. In my mind it would go as follows:
I don't have a hub or anything, just a few lights that I connected to my WiFi using the Smart Life app.
Hope my rambling made sense, would appreciate advice if this type of product exists as I have been unable to find it.
I bought an apartment building. The hallway light switch is in the middle by the middle room.
I want to put a 3 way switch in, so you can have a light switch on each end of the hall, plus the current location in the middle. I really don't want to tear out a bunch of drywall to run the 3 way wire between each switch, so if there's some way i can get two light switches that only need power run to them, that communicate wirelessly with a 3rd hub switch (the one that actually breaks power to the light) that would be awesome.
They need to work on their own without wifi since it's for tenants not me.
Hey, was wondering if anyone has an alternative to the hue smart switches. I am getting some hue lights, but also would like some that control other things when I don't want to yell at my alexa etc. The phillips ones are so pricey though at almost $25 a piece after tax, although I'm not sure I'll find a better deal, but I'm also assuming I can't use them to control non lightbulb scenes. All of my searches turn up the wired type that turn on/off dumb electronics.
I don't necessarily mind having to hard wire in for a power source, for the switch, but I am not looking for the ones that are the physical switch as well.
These are the phillips switches I'm referring to.

Thanks for any help!
I have a recessed light in my ceiling with a plug behind it wired into my ceiling fanβs light switch. I want to be able to turn this light on and off independent of the fan without rewiring it (vaulted ceiling). Is there a wireless light switch that I could put one part between the plug and the light (either by plug or wire it between) and the other part mount into the wall like a normal light switch?
Edit: the ceiling fan has a remote control so the plug has constant power.
I have a basement light with the switch on 1st floor inside the house. I'd like to be able to turn the light on with my iPhone, or even just have a few other wireless switches in the basement to act like a three way switch in the hall leading to it. I believe I have a neutral available at the switch, but don't want to use any hubs. A bulb isn't going to work because the switch is always getting turned off by accident.
Are there any home kit switch options, or even a wireless switch setup that would keep me from going in the house every time I need to turn on the basement light?
I'm looking for a light switch with a wireless 3-way capability.
Currently I'm using the Lutron Caseta and the Pico remote, though I'm not a big fan of the buttons on the switches themselves.
I'm looking at the Aeotec WallSwipe with the Nano dimmer. After you connect the WallSwipe to the Nano dimmer for the local control, is there an Aeotec product would you install for the remote 3-way scenario? If so, is a hub required to carry out the wireless 3-way switch, or can the new remote "3-way" be directly linked to the Nano dimmer in the same way that the Caseta Pico remote does?
Are there any other options?
To the best of my knowledge that light switch is standard and not wireless in any way, but whenever it is used my headphones have a static clicking noise that coincides exactly with the switch being used.
Is there a reason that light switch would do this and others in my house wouldn't? My office is relatively close to all bedrooms, and all bedrooms have the same light switch/light/fan set up.
Edit: headphones are RCA WHP141 if that matters
For anyone who isn't aware, Power A is making an actual pro controller licensed by Nintendo. It's more on the level of Xbox pro controllers. Here is the Pre-order if interested.
