A list of puns related to "Multiway Switching"
Oh wise electricians of the interwebs, please help a confused home owner.
My upstairs hallway lights are controlled by three switches.
Switch #1 = 3-way switch at one end of hallway
Switch #2 = 4 way switch halfway down hallway, outside bedroom door
Switch #3 = 3 way switch at other end of hallway
Scenario:
Hallway lights are off, Switch #2 is "up / on". Switch #1 & #3 function properly like 3-way switches, ie Switch #1 turns lights on, Switch #3 turns lights off and vice versa.
However, if Switch #2 goes "down / off", hallway lights are off and Switch #1 and #3 have no effect on the lights.
I'm assuming that there is a way to have all three switches turn on/off the lights without requiring Switch #2 to always be "up / on"

I am fairly new to electrical nets, so I think this is a basic question I can't find the right answers to unfortunately.
I'm looking for a solution to connect a motion detector together with a regular light switch to turn my lights on and off in our barn at home.
The idea is the following:
If you enter the barn from behind, you use the light switch to turn the lights on and off. If you enter the barn from the front, the lights get triggered automatically via the motion detector, with a timer of 30 minutes or so. Please see the picture below for further clarification.

I am not sure how I should connect this. I guess I need to use something like the traveler system ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multiway_switching#Traveler_system ). But I'm not sure how I connect a sensor this way, as those are not 3-way contacts I guess?
Could someone please help me how to connect my lights to the light switch and motion detector?
Thanks in advance :)

Hi all. I want to add the Sonoff Mini to my home lightning in the living room. I have some limitations when it comes to wiring.
The point is, I have two sets of lights. One of the sets of lights have a multiway switching consisting on two switches. One of these switches is in a double light switch along with the switch of the other lights. T
This is the wiring of my current set up.
The point is, there is only one line wire going to this double light switch, and I cannot put the SONOFF mini there and I cannot pass a second wire to where this switch is.
Initially, I just wanted to put SONOFF on the Multiway switch set of lights. I designed this wireframe, but I am not sure it would work. From the Sonoff, one of the SONOF wires connecting to the switch would connect with both switches. The idea is that the sonoff would only work with the set of lights it is attached. But I am not sure if the switch would bypass the line...
Then I designed this with two sonoffs:
I have plenty of doubts this would work... But it is the only way I can think of to pass the Line to the switches using one wire only.
Any comments and ideas would be highly appreciated.
I'm looking to replace as many switches in my house as possible with Inovelli Reds and am curious how things work on the 3 or 4 way switches I have.
Can I replace a 3 way dimmer with dimmers on both ends? Will this cause problems? Thinking it would be nice to be able to dim from all switches.
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Do your worst!
I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies π

Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.
This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.
When I got home, they were still there.
What did 0 say to 8 ?
" Nice Belt "
So What did 3 say to 8 ?
" Hey, you two stop making out "
I won't be doing that today!

This morning, my 4 year old daughter.
Daughter: I'm hungry
Me: nerves building, smile widening
Me: Hi hungry, I'm dad.
She had no idea what was going on but I finally did it.
Thank you all for listening.
