This'd be a tricky one since K'naan hasn't even cracked the top 80 in the US, but has had multiple hits in his home country of Canada. However, due to its play in commercials and things like that I'd say it's a pretty recognizable song (I recognized it when I first heard about it and I didn't pay much attention to music, even though I didn't know the title).
Things are further complicated since his follow-up in 2012 "Is There Anybody Out There?" did decently and was a bonafide second hit in most of the countries where "Wavin' Flag" was a real hit as well.
I just think that Wavin’ Flag better captures the spirit of the World Cup being hosted in an African nation for the first time. This isn’t a knock to Waka Waka, cuz it’s also a banger.
