A list of puns related to "Volleyball variations"

> NACIVT rules stipulate that at any given time, each team must have at least six players of "100 percent" Chinese descent on the court. The remaining three players must be of Asian descent; the NACIVT explicitly states who qualifies as Asian based on the country of origin of his ancestors - (Asian: origins from: Myanmar (formerly Burma), Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam). In addition, only men are allowed to play 9-man.[2]
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/9-Man_(film)
> The documentary follows several modern-day 9-man teams throughout one season framed by a historical portrait of Chinatown history and the game of 9-man. The first act of the film introduces the Boston Knights, Washington CYC (Chinese Youth Club), Toronto Connex, and the Boston Freemasons as they begin the season preparing for competition with other teams. As the first act closes a character from New York Haiyan Townsmen is introduced, and East Coast regional teams compete in the New York Mini tournament crowning an early-season favorite. The second act of the film introduces the history of the gameβtraveling to Toisan (Taishan), Chinaβand its modern-day rules, which include limiting participation by players who are not "100% Chinese." The sport and isolation of the game are revealed as direct descendants of the Chinese Exclusion Act and racism faced by the community. The final act of the film unites the characters, teams, and conflicts at the NACIVT championship tournament in Boston's Chinatown, setting up Olympian Kevin Wong as the player to beat. As teams fight for the title, they also bring to light the cultural belonging and loss of the modern Chinatown and 9-man community. The film concludes with a scene featuring the funeral of a beloved community member and another scene where 9-man leaders contemplate moving the tournament to a new cityβwith no Chinatown.[14]

> Nine-man volleyball is a variation of volleyball utilizing nine players and a slightly larger court (10 by 20 meters) originated in Asia in the 1920s when American missionaries introduced the game in China. The birthplace of 9man can be speculated to be the city of Tai-Shan, China where 9man tournaments are played regularly,

I like doing this because it's easier to put yourself in your character's shoes. Like, my players have no frame of reference for just how big and scary a joust is, and how thrilling people would've found them. Two giant animals with metal men mounted on them thundering down at amazing speeds until a violent BANG is heard, wood flies everywhere and maybe that guy is dead. That sounds like a lot of things, but not like a sport. But if I put in a boxing match, now they know exactly what I'm talking about.
And besides, sports and games were such an important part of medieval life and conflict resolution that it's strange that they're so often ignored in RPGs.
Before we move on, though, I'd like to avoid magic if we can - at least in the wider scale. Sure, the fancy universities and royals would maybe have access to a court wizard, but most nobles and common people wouldn't. Also, I put my arbitrary limit on "Middle Ages" at the mid-to-later ends of the War of the Roses, before cannons and musketeers were a thing, and definitely before the New World was a thing. Don't feel beholden to Europe, though, lots of different things existed along the world and putting them in other places can be fun too.
Anyway, here's a few modern games that were played in the Middle Ages in some form or another:
Chess (and it's many variations), Backgammon, Checkers, and Dice - These are the gold standard. They're very easy to make, Backgammon is even so abstract that it exists for thousands of years almost unchanged, and they're DAMN compelling. Chinese chess - xiangi - may be even older than that, and while "Japanese chess" (Shogi) is more recent, there's really no reason why people couldn't have played it before.
Go - One of the oldest tabletop games, I'm sure a lot of nobles at Richard the Lionheart's court would've enjoyed it.
Bowling and Bocce - Shouldn't surprise anyone that they're so old. You get a ball and you throw it at some wooden pins, that's it.
Tug of War and See-Sawing - Two very simple children's games. For the first one you only need a long cloth, and for the second one just a long plank and a barrel.
Tennis, Badminton, and Volleyball - Surprisingly, at least to me,

First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

Alot of great jokes get posted here! However just because you have a joke, doesn't mean it's a dad joke.
THIS IS NOT ABOUT NSFW, THIS IS ABOUT LONG JOKES, BLONDE JOKES, SEXUAL JOKES, KNOCK KNOCK JOKES, POLITICAL JOKES, ETC BEING POSTED IN A DAD JOKE SUB
Try telling these sexual jokes that get posted here, to your kid and see how your spouse likes it.. if that goes well, Try telling one of your friends kid about your sex life being like Coca cola, first it was normal, than light and now zero , and see if the parents are OK with you telling their kid the "dad joke"
I'm not even referencing the NSFW, I'm saying Dad jokes are corny, and sometimes painful, not sexual
So check out r/jokes for all types of jokes
r/unclejokes for dirty jokes
r/3amjokes for real weird and alot of OC
r/cleandadjokes If your really sick of seeing not dad jokes in r/dadjokes
Punchline !
Edit: this is not a post about NSFW , This is about jokes, knock knock jokes, blonde jokes, political jokes etc being posted in a dad joke sub
Edit 2: don't touch the thermostat
So this is a bit of a different kind of a post, less training and more tactics, but it might help some people who, like me, are more interested in long free routes than boulders or single pitch sport climbs. This list of tactics is also definitely a work in progress, and I donβt do all of these things all of the time, but I have used all of these at different times, and they really help. Some of these seem like common sense, but still worth mentioning.
Bringing stuff on the route:
Donβt wear a pack if you can help it. Wearing a pack, especially on vertical or steeper terrain sucks and puts more strain on your upper body than necessary. Haul the damn thing if itβs hard or steep. Hauling can happen with a thin tag line (I typically use the Edelrid II rap line) or even the lead line. Iβll get into the latter method later.
Another thing with tag lines: if the pitch is long and requires a large rack, or has a hard crux towards the bottom, start the pitch with just enough pieces to get to a rest or stance, and then haul the rest of the rack for the second part of the pitch.
One last thing with twisty tag lines, mini packable reusable shopping bags make great rope bags at hanging belays or during rappels.
Use a microtraxions, or even two, to haul. Hang one microtraxion off the anchor, and clove it to a carabiner on your harness and squat. The other method is stomping in a sling to haul it, hanging the sling from a microtraxion, a tibloc, or even an autoblock. I tend to do the squat haul and just take one micro.
Instead of a normal pack I use a little haul pack. Everything youβd normally carry in a pack goes in this bag. On low angle pitches the follower wears it as a pack, on steep or crux pitches it gets hauled (basically anything over 5.9) I've used both a BD Creek 20 and a Metolius Express Haulpack.
Sometimes bringing two pairs of shoes is worth it. Have floppies with socks for all the 5.10 climbing, then bust out the tap dancers for the 5.12 face pitch, or whatever.
Partner tactics:
Lead in blocks that make sense. Do transitions at ledges if possible. Thereβs a lot of pros to block leading, including keeping people warmer (youβre at belays for a shorter time), and being able to stay in one headspace for a while.
Play to strengths. If one person is more likely to send the one crux pitch on lead, the other personβs job is to free everything to get them there. Alternatively, for multiple cruxes, match strengths with leaders. If one
Do your worst!

But no, seriously. I understand rule 7 is great to have intelligent discussion, but sometimes it feels like 1 in 10 posts here is someone getting upset about the jokes on this sub. Let the mods deal with it, they regulate the sub.

33 M looking to broaden my circle of friends. Music, jamming/recording, board games, video games.
A lot of my friends are starting families or live in different cities so itβs been a bit challenging during Covid. Hoping to meet some new people that live in the city and have some hobbies in common.
I live in the St James Town area and work fully remote in Healthcare/Technology. I lean a bit on the introverted side but still love socializing and meeting new people, I just take some down-time days occasionally in between.
Hobbies-wise, Iβm going to provide an excruciating level of detail to see if any of it resonates with anyone, bear with me:
- Music β Love all kinds of indie rock variations, especially blues/funk inspired. Been listening to a lot of old school Black Keys lately. Also love Bahamas, Jungle, Dope Lemon, Fruit Bats, Glass Animals, etc. I like some EDM too (Ben Bohmer, Tourist, Lane 8). Love discovering new music and Iβm really missing the live music scene/festivals. When life gets back to normal, I would love to just see which bands are playing in the city in the upcoming 6 months, check out their catalogue, and go to a small show. I did this a few months ago and discovered the band βGood Morningβ; was about to pull the trigger on tickets but then Omi started raging in full force.
- Playing/Recording music β I play guitar and half-decently sing (I think). Love jamming, writing songs, and recording stuff. I have one or two friends that I do this with sporadically and have recorded some very amateur (but fun!) songs. I occasionally try my hand at making more EDM style songs on my own; I have a couple I think sound pretty good. Would love to collaborate with anyone interested in similar genres.
- Board games β Love Codenames, Camel Up, and Catan is always fun. Always down to try new games. For a while I had a monthly board game thing with a couple buddies but it has been on pause for a bit.
- Video games β Love couch coop/multiplayer games. Mario Kart, It Takes Two, etc. Recent single-player games Iβve enjoyed: Mass Effect, Subnautica, Guardians of the Galaxy, Outer Wilds.
- Movies/Books β I love movies and love discussing movies. Iβll watch almost anything but Sci Fi and Mystery genres have a special place in my heart. We can talk about how Dune was pretty good but Bladerunner 2049 is still better. Or how βPigβ with Nicholas Cage was actually awesome and made me unexpectedly feel things. Books are similar but I also read non-fict

Which sports would you like to see an anime made about? It doesn't need to have manga. top 3 picks please, and why. Please stick to "main or most popular variants" - see originality remark below. There is only 1 rule:
It doesn't already have an existing serious-action-realistic-full-fledged anime centered around boys (unless it's strictly women's sport)- serious action meaning that it's not comedy and/or slice of life and/or yaoi; full fledged meaning those anime where the sport is in the center (e.g. volleyball is excluded because of haikyuu); realistic meaning real life rules apply (e.g. if Kuroko no Basuke was the only basketball anime then basketball would count); centered around boys so that there is no temptation for panty shots.
Originality remark: Of course there is million of sports but consider main sports, not (too) similar variations (netball (basketball is too similar), bandy (too similar to ice hockey), rugby league/7/union (all out covers rugby for all intents and purposes) , fistball (similar to volleyball))...
There is quite a bit of mainstream team sports that haven't been featured: american football (E21 is a comedy, imo), handball, lacrosse, cricket, softball (I hate it when they force girl's baseball anime and manga, when there is perfectly good sport available), sepak takraw, ice hockey, field hockey (or roller hockey), bossaball, indian kho kho (there is a kho kho pro league in India). I am on defense about waterpolo (Re-main) and swimming (Free!) - those are like half slice of life half sport action anime.
And, of course there is even more individual sports that haven't made an appearence yet.
I am more of a fan of team sports in real life and team sports in a story setting. In all honesty I would like to see all of the above, but my top 3 are:
honorable mention (because I posted it): kho kho. I was impressed with kabaddi in burning kabaddi. The anime was far from perfect but it featured an unusual and interesting spor
