A list of puns related to "Vegetarian and vegan symbolism"
That fateful morning in the hotel in Minnesota Hannibal knocks on the door with the two steaming containers of his lilβ protein scramble and Will in his usual polite fashion says βSorry, donβt eat meat, never have, will meet you at the car in half an hourβ and just closes the door in Hannibalβs face. No philosophical monologue upon serving trout, no homoerotic eating of a whole bird together. I wonder if there is a fic out there with this prompt. Chances are Will wouldβve been eaten shortly after the first episode.
Just a random Sunday thought.
Edit: I have been advised that Quorn is not vegan as some products contain eggs. I apologise for this misunderstanding, I'll say 50 Hail Marys while kneeling on broken eggshells for my sins.
Also sometimes I eat chicken hehe
Post-run meals? Rest-day meals? Looking for some inspiration!
I realize the conclusion is intuitive (supplementing DHA increases DHA).
>Background/Aims: Vegetarians and vegans have a lowered intake of preformed Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) compared to omnivorous populations due to the limited intake of fish and animal products. As such, their omega-3 index has been reported as being 50-60% less than those who consume marine products which are notoriously high in DHA and (Eicosapentaenoic acid) EPA. This research aims to examine the evidence for the relationship between supplementing with algal forms of DHA and increasing phospholipid DHA concentrations in vegetarians and vegans.
>
>Methods: A systematic literature review was performed using the SCOPUS and Web of Science databases. Included studies assessed the effect of non-animal sources of DHA supplementation on vegetarian and/or vegan populations reporting on plasma and/or serum DHA or omega-3 indices. A search for unpublished literature was not performed, although reference lists of the included publications were examined for additional relevant studies. No date exclusions were set. NHMRC levels of evidence were applied to the included studies.
>
>Results: Three randomised controlled trials and two prospective cohort studies met the inclusion criteria. All five studies were unified reporting supplementing with non-animal forms of DHA significantly increases DHA status in vegetarians and vegans.
>
>Conclusions: DHA status is significantly increased when algal DHA supplementation is used in vegan and vegetarian populations. Research is warranted to determine if increasing the omega-3 status in vegetarians and vegans will further decrease their already lowered risk of death from ischemic heart disease compared to omnivorous populations. I emailed the researcher eight months ago (mid-2020), inquiring about their other PROSPERO paper. It was registered a month earlier: [Vegans: are they silently suffering from docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) deficiency?](https://www.crd.york.ac.uk/prospero/display_record.php?RecordID=1
... keep reading on reddit β‘It happens to me once that we went to a restaurant so called "green" because they had a "vegan" menu when we called them. We arrived to the place and the menu was vegetarian, being the diary the key parts of the dishes. They reconverted the recipes to make them vegan just removing the diary, without adding or modifying anything in the rest of the dish. It was pretty poor and we were hungry just after finishing, even though it was quite expensive. We got a small reduction only after we complained for a while. It was the same price of the meat menu (this goes for another post).
I'd like to be able to ask to a restaurant if they have a proper vegan menu and not a vegetarian without the eggs and diary. I'm afraid that asking that directly might seem aggressive or people won't understand. I don't want that they add more potatoes, but that I have a balanced meal like everyone else. Any tricks here?
Iβm looking for the ethical reasons for why I should be a vegan and not a vegetarian. I eat meat but I feel like the biggest hypocrite when I talk about caring for animals. I cannot call animal abusers cruel while literally eating those animals. So yeah I want to stop that even though it may be very difficult especially bc of the wide variety of food that has meat in it. I also wonβt lie a lot of it tastes so good but I guess itβs something I can live without. Now Iβm wondering if I should take it a step further and go vegan instead. I understand itβs cruel to cage chickens but is it not okay for me to purchase eggs that clearly say free range on it? In this case no harm is being done right? Iβm willing to avoid dairy because it causes acne but I also want to know some of the most convincing arguments for why itβs unethical.
I m training for the Ironman Triathlon (140.6) and while on a plant based diet I have no energy or power on my trainings.
Another issue is after awhile I would also have these short term memory problems and brain fogs. I really want to turn vegetarian/vegan but it's been really challenging.
Any ideas you may share is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
That's not a thing. Why do you think that's a thing. Stop. Shut the fuck up. Do you think I'm gonna fucking validate you because you make a box of mac n cheese for dinner on Fridays? Or because your favorite study snack is an apple? Fuck you. I don't even like apples WHY THE FUCK WOULD I CARE that you eat some plants sometimes? I wouldn't care if you literally only ate once a month, if that monthly meal was a single boiled egg you're an animal abuser. It does not matter how many apples you eat in between.
Instead, I shall be bullying twice as many people. Bring on 2022.
Hi friends. I deal with LOTS of GI issues (Esonophilic Esophagitis, IBS-D, GERD, gas, etc).
Iβve had a couple of my doctors swear up and down that a whole food, plant-based diet will help with pain and inflammation. That vegan is the way to go. So I started off slowly by going vegetarian.
Iβve done it for about a week, and even with sticking to βsafeβ vegetables (all cooked and no broccoli, cauliflower, etc) my IBS is PISSED.
I mentioned that I was slowly working towards veganism to one of my other doctors (who also has EDS himself), and he said vegan is the worst diet possible for EDS. That we need the animal the protein. He listed reasons why but now I canβt remember them properly... (thanks to Topamax lol).
So, with all that...
Is there anyone here who is/was vegan or vegetarian?
How do you deal with GI upset?
Does anyone here have diet recommendations for EDS? To reduce pain, etc.
I want to increase veggies/legumes and decrease animal products. But my GI issues are not happy with vegetarianism. Curious what your experiences are.
Especially since Iβm getting conflicting information from the doctors I work with.
But dont worry my local council has a plan. Whilst still operating a bus service that never turns up theyre gonna just remove all the car parks!
Lucky its still cheaper to get 2 ubers than the bus...
I'm a Vegetarian for year's now, was also vegan at some point but just stayed vegetarian. It's just how I like to eat, i don't judge other's nor do I care if you eat meat or not. I have no problem with people eating meat in front of me or whatever but whenever someone asks what I'm gonna order or ate and it's vegan or vegetarian substitute like tofu or whatever they react with disgust and tell me how gross and disgusting it is. Even go sometimes so far making gaging sounds as if they where to throw up. This happens more than you think, even from stranger's. I had people chew in my face with a mouth full of steak asking me if it's bothering me. Why do people act like this, i asked several times and never got a answer. I understand that not everyone likes everything but what's up with the hate ?
Iβm subbed to the plant based subreddit and the keto one. Unsurprisingly they have vastly different approaches to what they eat and both groups thinking they are following the healthiest diet. Iβm curious. What does everyone eatβ¦ and do you think you are following the healthiest diet (for you/in general)?
Or better yet the ones who say they βeat mostly vegetarianβ. So basically everyone at my college/university.
No wonder I have no friends!
If you were just nicer and stopped calling us out on raping cows and murdering baby chicks, we'd stop raping cows and murdering baby chicks.
I'm just saying that I DO eat aggs and cheeze but I'm also NOT eating meat, so get off your high horse, cuz I'm trynna ride her.
I hope this is the right place to ask this. It seemed more appropriate than r/askculinary.
I see "vegan cheesesteak" and "tofu reuben" and "vegetarian sloppy joe" recipes and the like all over the place, both at restaurants and on the internet as recipes.
It's kind of mind boggling how many of these replacement recipes there are. Is this a problem in other countries, too? Thank you.
