The title is an obvious reference to Starfleetβs policy of getting all up in the business of newly encountered civilizations. Similarly titled episodes across the franchise include βFirst Contactβ (episode), βFirst Contactβ (movie), βSecond Contactβ, and βFirst First Contactβ.
The title card for the episode labels it βFirst Contactβ, contrary to what itβs called in the press release information.
UPDATE: The title card has been corrected.
The Protogies have discovered the transporter. Apparently none of them have decided to give the Emergency Janeway Hologram shit for not brining it up when they were trapped on HIrogen Prime.
The swirling energy transporter effect looks very similar to that of the Kelvin universe transporters.
Zero claims that one of the test transporters is, βat least 200 meters,β which would imply that the USS Protostar is larger, or at least longer, than than the Defiant-class at 170.68 meters.
Murf survives being beamed to the exterior of the ship. The DS9 episode βChimeraβ introduced Laas, who was also a goo that could survive the vacuum of space.
The Protostar encounters an old acquaintance of Dalβs, a Ferengi woman named Nandi who initially tries to con them by claiming she is transporting orphans afflicted with the Phage, the disease which devastated the Delta quadrantβs Vidiians.
In the episode βThink Tankβ, Kurros claimed that the titular Think Thank had recently developed a cure the phage; that would have been eight years before this episode.
As a feeemale, Nandi would not have had the right to wear clothing until amendments to the Ferengi Bill of Opportunities introduced by Grand Nagus Zek in βProfit and Laceβ, seven years prior.
Nandiβs ship appears to be a DβKora-class Marauder.
Aboard the Damsel, Dal finds a horgaβhn, a Risan sex charm introduced in βCaptainβs Holidayβ meant to broadcast that the owner is DTF.
The Klingon cloaking device Nandi has matches the one Quark stole from the IKS Rotarran in βThe Emperorβs New Cloakβ.
The Ferengi Rules of Acquisition were first introduced in βThe Nagusβ, and the rules mentioned in this episode ha

Time to admit it: while we tried giving Myrla the benefit of the doubt, what you see is what you get with this one.
We said her rudeness, lack of empathy, holier than thou attitude and displeasure with everything was βno nonsense,β βsheβs very private,β βshe worked hard for finer things,β β¦ Nah, that was just us projecting our own kindness and compassion on to her, when in reality sheβs just plain rude, lacks basic social and communication skills, shows a troubling lack of empathy, is insufferable and feels entitled to look down on anything she deems less than - based on what she brings to the table (education, a job, and a six figure income β¦ traits that are far less rare today than they used to be).
What Iβm most shocked/disappointed by is our inability, after last seasonβs fiasco, to spot a Chris when we see one: flashy, money-driven, lacking substance, wants a significant other who serves as another token of their self-perceived grandiosity.
Seeing how money-driven she is leads me to believe that she is 100% the kind of person who would marry a stranger just for the payout; seeing how attention-loving she is leads me to believe she is 100% the kind of person whoβd marry a stranger to get on TV; and seeing how driven-to-win she is, leads me to believe that she is 100% the kind of person who would lead a man on just to have a βwinβ on decision day. In the end, sheβs getting everything she actually came here for (again, just like Chris): payout, fame, and an audience.
Interesting video. I'm SO curious and cannot wait to see what Sunny's defense will be. Seems he has some options. Will he take the blame game defense like EH or will he own up to what he did in hopes of a lighter sentence?
Already have Sky Blue, Grey, Crimson, and Purple
I personally hate the lever shotgun. I think they should add the tact shotgun again. It was just way better. The only time i take a lever is if its the only shotgun i have.
I will literally take a grey pump over a blue lever
what do you think?
A lot of videos are circulating social media these days that instruct people to βshut the f*ck up,β βnever talk to the police,β etc. if they get detained or arrested. Thatβs very very good advice. You should definitely have an attorney present before answering questions. But I never see the lawyers in these videos emphasize how important respect and good manners still are when dealing with cops. Yes, you can be snarky and rude when you ask them βAm I detained, or free to go?β But if you piss them off, youβre likely to either be written up on minor infractions (just to cost you money/make you take off work for court), have a drug dog brought to tear up your car for fun, or even have your name out onto a blacklist. Believe me, there are departments out there that have long memories, and if it gets around that you were a dick to them and made them look stupid, your name will get talked about. It just always pays to be respectful to everyone, including the cops. Save the wise cracks for casual conversation. This isnβt βboot lickingβ or anything. Itβs just another step in protecting your own ass.
Edit* Didnβt think Iβd need to clarify this; but yes, I realize not all cops are good and some groups of people get treated worse than others. Thereβs still a difference between being assertive of your rights and being an ass. Chill out people. Damn.
Hello hive mind! Variations of this question have been asked many times, but I'm throwing out another version as I'd love to hear your experiences. My partner and I are planning a very casual micro-wedding. I think the word wedding might be generous as what we're planning is a 15 minute ceremony at a local beach with siblings and parents only and to go out to dinner afterwards, everyone paying for their own meal. This is an upgrade from having just parents together in a room to sign papers (FH's dad is an officiant and wants desperately to do it), which was already an upgrade from eloping alone.
I have aunts and grandparents that will no doubt be disappointed. Fortunately, my sister is getting married next year so that'll take away some sting. But still, for those of you who have left out family, how did you let them know or respond to them? I know why I am doing it and I feel fine about that (ie, I won't regret it) but I still in no way want to hurt feelings.
My second issue then is that we have this "immediate family" idea but I have 4 step sisters from my father's marriage (2019). They're all adults and I only see one of them with any regularity. The others have their own partners and kids, the one I know best still lives at home. For context, I haven't spent more than 10 hours total with each of the three, and maybe 30 hours with the other. I don't mind if she joins, but I don't want to have the other three. Mainly because then it is not just three, it is now 7. So again, I don't feel particularly bad about it and I don't think they will actually care at all, but my step mother will absolutely be offended as she hates even using the term "step sister" because we "should all just be sisters." Fortunately, I don't really give a hoot what she thinks but again, I don't want to be cruel or to hurt anyone's feelings.
I'm historically a non-confrontational people-pleaser so that's part of my problem, but I'm so curious about how others managed these family dynamics and how you graciously stood your ground? tnx:)
I totally wrecked my skin using 0.05% of tret because I was using a shitty moisturizer. Whatβre you holy grail moisturizers while using tretinoin? Iβve heard laroshe posay has some great balms that protect your skin.
Boarding house. All mostly 25 year old responsible adults. One party-kid, privileged college kid with... Extroverted echo chamber for a click group of friends, who live here. They're just messy, irresponsible and I'm tired of enabling them with the shitty antics they get away with but I'm the bad bitch for saying No to them
They throw parties a lot. Even during the Sickness. With oh my k Ron, they want to throw one for end of February.
Typically, they don't clean up after themselves. They don't tidy up as they do what ever. They never clean and weasel out of it. They joke about getting a maid and low ball the maid cost. It's been where their guests feel bad for the clutter and clean the party for this person, that lives here. Their room smells.
Their parents are stupid rich but they're not on "good terms" and basically stole their parents stupid-rich car and kind of drove it to death. It's still kicking.
They came to announce the latest party, and how much precautions they are taking. I mention how the parties never get cleaned up, always the night before it's my turn to weekly clean the kitchen as the chore I agreed to take on the day of_____ and they said
"No one asked you to clean up after the parties. I clean [no they don't.] And it's a weekend party that can go on Late. "
I don't get asked to clean (after the parties, specifically the kitchen.....)and it's hard to use common areas with their stupid clutter. I pay to live here and don't get paid to clean here. I clean because I live here and appreciate the clean. Everyone appreciates when I clean, except this bitch.
I'm tired of enabling this idiot and they're claiming I'm being rude. Cause I don't enable their extroverted cool kid antics or sugar coat things.
I want to put my foot down but this person comes from an absurdly privileged upbringing that makes them an idiot as well as a jerk. That is messy. And it's affecting the house with clutter as well as the sickness, because we have had sickness close calls with this person in particular.
Eh title says it all really.
