A list of puns related to "Singapore math"
We're having trouble locating these sorts of videos. For our kid they are the best for learning, but so far, only Singapore Math seems to fit this criteria: Where a real person is leading a "classroom experience" and the view changes from the teacher, to a whiteboard, or to the teacher's pen as she writes, etc.
EDIT: I forgot to mention, this is for younger elementary grades, probably grades 1 to 4.
We've searched a lot, but where can you find video lessons, either paid or free, which are *human lessons* that simulate a classroom experience? Singapore Math is the perfectly example of what we're looking for, and we use that. But, of course it's just math, and we need a full curriculum. Perfectly willing to mix content.
Things like KhanAcademy, Time4Learning, Study.com, or anything animated aren't what I mean (way too distracting). Those are all OK in their own ways, but for our kid specifically, nothing keeps focus as well as an actual person leading you along as if they were your personal tutor.
I don't mind paying for premium content if the courseware is what we're looking for. Anything from pay-by-course, to full private online schooling -- all recommendations welcome.
If interested, this is just our personal situation: We're still having our kid go to public school, but we're just about completely fed up with it. We do some supplemental courses and workbooks at home already, and other activities like crafts (Tinker Crates) or Lego "engineering..." But, the simple act of continuing public school is detrimental to our goals, and to our child (in big, obvious ways). Teachers/administrators make promises, but in the end, they only do what makes their day-to-day job easier.
For those of you who use Singapore Math, which edition did you go with, and why? I have a 3rd grader and a 1st grader.
Iβm inclined to choose Common Core since theyβve already started learning that in their public school and theyβll need to continue if/when they return. My husband is concerned that the later editions may have been adapted so many times the quality has declined, concepts lost in translation and whatnot. We donβt know other homeschoolers, so we havenβt had the chance to ask/look at any books in person.
I want to buy a Singapore Math dimensions curriculum for my daughter. I plan to use the paid streaming videos. Does anyone know if I should order the complete book set or the essential set? Iβm leaning toward the essential set if it can work sufficiently well with the videos.
I also think the questions are sort of "boring" or undirected... so many of the same thing... How many 10s is 6300? How many ones is 3000... on and on. How can I make math FUN while still making progress?
My daughter is in charter school but i want to supplement at home in math, as well as history. Public school simply doesnt teach proper history as far as im concerned.
Im looking for something that teaches american history by focusing heavily on the constitution, bill of rights, the fight for independence, ect. I would also like it to teach Greek and Roman history with a heavy focus on philosophy.
As for math, I think im looking for a singapore math program
