The reason Honda's engines were so abysmal between 2015~2017 and how Honda overcome the issues

I've been quite surprised by the fact that not a lot of people know what was really wrong with Honda engines during the 2015~2017 era and what they have done to fix it, so I've thought that I might as well give some explanation.

So what the hell is Size-Zero exactly?

You should have already heard of size-zero engines from Honda during the McHonda days. Though what really was a size-zero engine? Size-Zero engine, just like its name suggest, was a design philosophy which was aimed towards smaller and better packaging of the PU, with which the goal was to achieve superior aero performance, thereby negating any loss of power due to tighter packaging and resulting in a better overall performance. In order to do this, there were 3 key parts to the Size-Zero concept : more compact intake induction including the inlet plenum, more compact exhaust manifold and most importantly, more compact turbo. These were the places where you could potentially save a lot of space since shrinking the engine block itself was limited

Firstly induction system, mainly the inlet plenum. Intake filter as well as the Inlet plenum of the RA615H from the 2015 season was very flat and small, without any humps whatsoever to fit in snug under the engine cover. This resulted in a sub-optimal pressure management to the intakes, with uneven distribution of air to each cylinders at a given time. Actually, the entire induction system suffered from such issues due to a very tight packaging. One of the biggest problem caused by a small plenum chamber was how the intake funnel from the plenum chamber connected to each cylinders were designed. They were installed on an angle, with each intake funnel intertwined with funnel from the opposite cylinder, kind of forming an X-shape when seen from the front. This was in order to provide enough room for the VIS (Variable Intake System, re-allowed from 2015 onwards) to move up and down, since due to the aforementioned small plenum chamber, it meant there was no headroom for a VIS to move vertically but only horizontally. Obviously this made the whole system horrendously complex.

Secondly, the exhaust manifold. RA615H's exhaust manifold was one single exhaust pipe connected to the exhaust port of every single cylinder. This resulted in a very very slim side profiles since the exhaust manifold takes up a lot of space next to the combustion compartment of the ICE, but there's obviously a reason other manufacturers use a complicated, large exhaust wit

Hello everyone!

Today we wear our party helmets to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the first publicly released version of Kerbal Space Program, as well as the launch of our most ambitious free update ever! Kerbal Space Program 1.12: On Final Approach is the last major update of what became one of the most influential space flight simulators ever, but it also marks the beginning of a new chapter in the Kerbal universe. Looking forward to the future, but proud of what KSP has achieved, we want to give players our most sincere thanks. The support you’ve given us throughout all these years has helped to excite and inspire us to bring you the ultimate KSP experience before KSP2 hits the shelves next year.

Kerbal Space Program 1.12: On Final Approach is packed with a great deal of content including a brand new β€˜Slim’ suit inspired by the feats of the private aerospace sector industry, on-demand disconnecting struts, and rotating docking port collars, just to name a few. This update also includes many new requested features & quality of life additions to improve the user experience of KSP, such as a huge revamp to craft and game save loading menu-system, a large amount of wheel and landing leg improvements, and much more! Rejoice and explore the Kerbal universe once more... you might even encounter some of the new easter eggs and unlockable launch sites scattered around the solar system. Are you ready?

Let’s go through some of the update’s highlights below:

Maneuver Creator App

The Maneuver Creator app is an incredibly useful tool that enhances the accuracy of your space maneuvers by allowing you to quickly generate transfers to other celestial bodies, see upcoming transfer windows and get a good understanding of where you’re going and how much deltaV it will take to get there.

Defending the Draft: Pittsburgh Steelers

Defending the Draft: Pittsburgh Steelers

Preface: 2020 was a season I can only describe as a roller-coaster; not one with a bunch of twists and turns but rather one with a giant ascension followed by a big drop. The grand return of Ben Roethlisberger coupled with arguably the league’s best defense propelled Pittsburgh to a franchise-record 11-0 start, and fans had ideals of a Lombardi. However, injuries to key players such as Bud Dupree and Devin Bush began to stack up, and the offense was quickly stagnating due to a lack of a run game and a struggling deep passing game which opposing defenses were cueing in on. That 11-0 start turned into a 1-4 skid before a humiliating opening playoff round loss to the rival Cleveland Browns. To make matters worse, the cap-strapped Steelers saw numerous important starters either walk in free agency, retire, or get cut to become cap compliant; most notably Bud Dupree, Steven Nelson, Maurkice Pouncey, Mike Hilton, Matt Feiler, and Alejandro Villanueva. They were able to retain some of their own such as Cam Sutton, Tyson Alualu, Zach Banner, and (much to Steelers fans’ surprise) JuJu Smith-Schuster, but didn’t really bring in any outside free agents aside from pure depth guys. Pittsburgh also made a critical coaching change by firing OC Randy Fichtner and promoting QBC Matt Canada who will bring a lot more modern concepts and moving parts to an otherwise stagnant and simple offense. Ultimately, however, this offseason can be defined by an outflux of talent rather than an influx.

Heading into the draft, the Steelers had some very clear holes that were created via Free Agency and only the standard amount of draft capital to get it done. However, with Ben Roethlisberger taking a pay cut to keep him in town for presumably his last season, the ultimate goal of the draft was very clear: Fix the Run Game. The Steelers had quite possibly the worst rushing attack in the entire league, and that was compounded by the losses of James Conner and three starting OL in free agency. Benny Snell proved incapable of being β€œthe guy” and he sure wasn’t going to find success behind a patchwork OL. Having Big Ben throw upwards of 40 times a game with zero balance in the game-plan proved to be a disaster, and that simply had to be remedied. The two biggest needs, bar none, were a true starting RB and multiple OL who can fill those vacancies. No matter the approach of β€œget the star RB now” or β€œfix the OL first”, th

Come for the "Meme Squeeze" Stay for the Amazing Growth Play Set Up by Overleveraged Hedge Funds

WKHS UPS C-1000 With Drone Launcher - UPS Has About 1000 Trucks on Order

TLDR This is a "meme" stock that could easilly see a $100+ PT in the next 6 to 12 months

I'll be honest, I am a little put off by Workhorse Group being portrayed as a "meme" stock play by the mainstream media. That said, as a long term investor in this company I am glad we are back in the spotlight and looking to rebound because of the influx of capital that is flowing into the company I see as an amazing future growth play that I have recommended to friends and family for the last 14 months. Also before I go further, I would like to point out that I am not anti meme stock or meme stock players. What "retards" and "apes" have done to the market is fantastic and holding hedge funds accountable for abusing the market and are now tilting it back in the right direction to make it a level playing field.

I think the real reason we have - and others - have been labled a meme is the fact that hedge funds overleveraged themselves in bad positions by not closing their short positions. Meme stocks are a negative connotation of a dead company that retail investors are playing for a joke. This company is no joke, it is the future. For whatever reason there is, perhaps it is to prop up Rivian who is coming to market with the same type of product line and assets as Workhorse Group who are seeking a $70 Billion IPO (a staggering 35x of what WKHS is valued at currently) and were attempting to bankrupt their closest competitor.

What we saw here was actual a thing of beauty if love capitalism and the free market system. Hedge funds betting against the company didn't choose to cover substanial positions when the market cap was drastically lower than what it should have been at. The bears had tried to portray this company as being totally reliant on the USPS contract and that couldn't have been further from the truth. The USPS deal would have made this stock sky rocket to the hundrends based on the forward revenue that would have been added the balance sheet. Under the surface (as I will get to further in the story) there is a lot more to this company than one contract. Hedge funds tried to decapitate for losing contract a bid that most observers felt they deserved based on USPS's criteria of winning. And now with the inflow of money and margin rates interest rat

If you feel it's appropriate to share NSFW jokes with your kids, that's on you. But a real, true dad joke should work for anyone's kid.

Mods... If you exist... Please, stop this madness. Rule #6 should simply not allow NSFW or (wtf) NSFL tags. Also, remember that MINORS browse this subreddit too? Why put that in rule #6, then allow NSFW???

Please consider changing rule #6. I love this sub, but the recent influx of NSFW tagged posts that get all the upvotes, just seem wrong when there are good solid DAD jokes being overlooked because of them.

Thank you,

Chapter 112: Trial and Error

Okay then, the basics of flight had been explained to the people who could fly, and the β€˜daddy how does the plane work’ edition of engines and propulsion had been explained. Tom was hoping that what came next might temper the enthusiasm for strapping engines to people… or dragons… big people. They had too much to do and making something like that wouldn’t be in the cards for a long time. Still, he had learned enough about dragonettes to know that laughing at things going wrong was a universal constant. So this was about to get funny. They also had a few guests who had yet to see a movie, and he was planning to show them the scary edition later when the kids went to sleep. And after food had been dealt with of course.

First off was a documentary he had found on the history of powered flight, specifically the section from before humans really figured it out, so to speak. Tom had told them no one was gonna die in this one, which was mostly true. He mainly said that for the kids’ sake. They weren’t gonna be seeing any death, so they shouldn’t be able to figure it out.

As expected, the original expressions from his little crowd were ones of utter confusion as they tried to figure out just what the fuck they were looking at. That quickly turned to maniacal laughter though as things on-screen fell apart, blew up, or just generally failed horribly. Tom just leaned back and let the movie d

It was dark, like really dark, even with my eyes open I stared into the void, and it stared back. I could feel a warm wetness, I was smothered by it. Drifting in and out of consciousness, blurry sights, strange smells. I awoke with a headache the size of Jupiter, greeted by a sterile ceiling, and a hospital room.

It was strange, I could smell things I shouldn't, the lingering scent of someone's aftershave, the sterile bitterness of disinfectant, and the faint smell of a lit cigar from the hallway. I could also hear way better than I should, so well in fact that I heard the embarrassing shriek of a woman subbing her toes, and the subsequent laughter of an older gentleman. I could even hear the inner workings of various machinery, I could actually hear the electrical current buzzing. I could even hear my own nervous system, the faint hum of my own mind has never been louder.

My eyes were heavy and blurry, my lungs felt like they were bleeding. My mouth was dry, like I had swallowed a mouthful of sand. I struggled to speak, it was like my vocal chords were made of shattered glass, it hurt to speak.

Barely lucid I try to move but find that it was difficult to do so, I reach out to the nightstand to my left, as I attempted to prop myself up I notice the shortness of my arm, in fact it was so short I missed the stand altogether and fell to the cold tile floor.

I tried to push myself up into a standing position only to be shocked, horrified in fact. I was greeted by four digits on my hand instead of 5. My nails were black and sharp like claws rather than nails, and my stubby arm was clad in a thick whitish-blue fur, I tried to pick it off thinking that somehow it was just a visual hallucination, a dream even, after several unsuccessful arm pinching this assessment proved to be false.

Even my legs were covered in white fur, but they were somehow 'wrong', they were bowed backwards under the knee, leading to a sort of raised ankle, off of which a stubby 4 toed furred foot dangled. I started to panic, I felt anxiety rise up from my chest prepared to scream. I screeched with my broken voice, just wha

#The F-3 "Rodan" (ラドン): All Under the Midnight Sun

INTERNAL STATE RELEASE | Issued January 1st, 2022 - 12:00 |

Description (General Overview of the Program)

The State of Japan has finalized the most recent and exciting endeavor, called the F-3 "Rodan" (ラドン) it represents the highest class and most technologically advanced Stealth Air Superiority Fighter in history and in development, designed to be a direct successor to the F-22 Raptor and built upon the joint knowledge bases from the F-X Japan Future Fighter Program and the Triumvirate Republic's own American Expertise. The Fighter is a combination of the F-X Program, and of the knowledge bases gained from the F-22 Raptor and F-35 II Lightning Programs.

The combined development funds and teams of the Triumvirate and Japan - will be working with nearly $34 billion dollars over the development cycle which lasts until 2030. As this is a direct successor (not an outright new aircraft), built and designed based upon the F-22/F-35 Programs, we suspect that a shorter dev time would be theoretically possible. Likewise this will allow us to establish a full-large scale production facilities for the aircraft and its next generation developments.

Role of the F-3A "Rodan"

The F-3A and F-3C Rodan (Carrier variant) is designed specifically and solely with Stealth Air Superiority in mind. A secondary focus is given to electronic warfare, and a tertiary focus to ground-missions. Nevertheless, the F-3 "Rodan" series is designed very specifically to dominate the skies and pursue total lethality against enemy aircraft. It is suspected to by a 6th gen aircraft, as we revolutionize a return towards dedicated SASF.

Through its next-generation stealth technology, the F-3 will be able to close distances and strike from range, a direct counter to ongoing hostile investment into radar and other over-the-horizon technologies which put existing aircraft at risk. Furthermore, the vastly improved mobility and general dog-fighting capability, means that it is also an extremely lethal dogfighting aircraft.

From a use perspective, the F-3 is designed to conduct flight missions which entail reaching high altitudes, utilizing stealth/EW jamming and targeting to close distance before engaging with next-generation missiles. If caught in a scenario in which an unexpected hostile appears, it can also engage in extremely lethal dogfighting and if out of missile

[TECH] MegingjΓΆrΓ°

#MegingjΓΆrΓ°

The standard Commonwealth infantryman now carries up to 80 kilograms of equipment, near the upper limit of human physiological capacity. This situation is unsustainable in the face of current conscription measures; increased fatigue and musculoskeletal, connective tissue, or spinal injuries are on the rise among our citizens. The need to establish a standard uniform for the soldiers of the Commonwealth presents a golden opportunity for adoption of an affordable, human-powered exoskeleton solution. Norway’s NFM Group and Swedish firms Bioservo and Tendo have received development licenses for Mawashi’s Uprise to refine the system for Commonwealth infantry use. The resulting MegingjΓΆrΓ° ecosystem represents a disruptive technology with the potential to transform the Soldier Systems and Load Carriage domains, particularly once it becomes standard-issue for all servicemen.

Designed to emulate how the human body bears its own weight, MegingjΓΆrΓ° is a lightweight biomimetic psuedo-passive, padded exoskeleton derived from the Mawashi system, with a flexible spine, sliding belt, and fully articulated legs that act as major load-bearing structures. Fit for the fully size-adaptable system is fine-tuned via Boa dials on the legs and lower extremities, and the entire weight of the exoskeleton is supported by a plate inserted like an insole into the operator’s footwear. This design enables MegingjΓΆrΓ° to mechanically transfer up to 80% of the wearer’s total load directly into the ground, assisting the infantryman’s ability to carry heavy loads structurally, rather than through powered augmentation.

Unlike Mawashi’s original fully-passive platform, the MegingjΓΆrΓ° also maintains temporary energy storage mechanisms to assist with operator movements while maintaining an overall zero energy balance/consumption. The exoskeleton’s lower joints contain a series of [clutch-springs](http://biomech.media.mit.edu/wp-content/uploads/sites/9/2016/04/Design-of-a

Why I'm a Bull - LMC's Hub Motors are not only disruptive tech, they're also a disruptive business model...

Lordstown Motors has 8 years (EDIT: was 5 years, no biggy I’ll retire at 41 instead of 38) to prove to me one thing - will the average life span of a hub motor last that long? If they do, boys we are on our way to a place of sweet sweet sweet returns baby, and here's why plain and simply:

/*What’s contained within has been reconsidered. See EDITs after…

On their website here Endurance vs. F-150 5 year maintenance, if you scroll down the page a bit you'll see that based on "internal data" they estimate 5 year maintenance of the Endurance to cost $1800. I'm betting on that data simply being the consumer or fleet manager's cost to replace 4 motors at this point in the game. So that is $450 a pop - likely without cost of labor included expecting that the bigger fleet managers will have their own mechanics (this will be the most vital relationship they need to establish first either directly B2B or thru the service center partnership with camping world).

I can't stop thinking about that $450 a pop...maybe we get more details at some point, but if that is indeed a cost to replace a single hub motor and if it endure 5 years of fleet operations, than we have a lucrative business model in our mists that is being vastly overlooked.

Every 5 years will not just be seen as a maintenance cost, but also as an affordable and attractable upgrade path instead of purchasing an entirely new vehicle. This will allow LMC to release new hub motors advancements with upgrades to their software eventually that will come future increases to that $450 pop! Yet returning value to their consumers by providing major improvements to performance and efficiencies. They will be the first automotive company to have a business model around recycling motors. What Steve Burns is gonna do to automotive propulsion is what Elon Musk did with rockets, make recycling them profitable.

And if that works out for fleets, and they see the savings in 5 years then that's when we really blast off because then we're a viable product to the broader consumer market. And in that future, a motor replacement will be no different than a tire change and create upgrade flexibility never seen in the industry before...

*/ β€”Leaving this tho as it still provides a rough outline of what I’m calling my recyclable motor/modular truck theory lol

EDIT: After additional research, looking at their warranty on the motors and battery, it says 8-years. So if they hav

I had to work late into the evening yesterday, and he was just going to bed when I got home. I had left home for the office nearly 14 hours prior, had a long day, lots of meetings, traffic, etc.

When I walked through the door, I was exhausted, run down, and starving. My wife hugged me and asked how my day was, and I replied, "Done. It was a good day, but has got me exhausted. I just want to grab a bite and go to bed. I'm hungry."

From my son's bedroom, I hear him shout, "Hi Hungry! Nice to meet you!"

Not only did it make me laugh, but I completely forgot about how hungry and tired I was. I went to his bedroom, and we laughed together about it. It was exactly what I needed.
