C’est la saison de Noël et qui dit Noël dit faire de la pâtisserie. Moi, je ne suis pas très doué pour faire des gâteaux ni pour faire du pain. Quand j’essaie de faire des biscuits, par exemple, ça finit mal. Le plus probable c’est qu’on va finir avec quelque chose qui n’est pas comestible et qui ne ressemble pas à un biscuit. Selon ma mère, j’aimais faire de la cuisine quand j’étais petit mais si c’est le cas, je ne m’en souviens pas. Je déteste faire de la cuisine (s’il vous plaît, ne me retirez pas le droit de parler français - c’est vrai que je ne suis pas le plus grand fan de fromage ou de vin, mais râler c’est un passe-temps pour moi alors je suis français honoris causa). Peut-être qu’un jour je serai capable de faire quelque chose de ragoûtant dans la cuisine, mais ce jour n’est pas aujourd’hui.

Aujourd'hui, j'ai réalisé que je ne pouvais pas nommer une pâtisserie ou un dessert français traditionnel commençant par la lettre "A." Par exemple, je fais des "alfajores", mais ils ne sont pas originaires de France, ils ne sont donc pas une pâtisserie traditionnelle française.
Existe-t-il une pâtisserie traditionnelle française ou un dessert (en français)?

Basically, I grew up on grocery store/those super-sized Costco birthday cakes and now that I’m a “real“ adult with a bit of money and no need to feed 25 hungry teenagers, I am ready to splurge a bit on a nicer cake for my BDay.
I’m not looking for anything super fancy. No over-the-top fondant decorations or places with 3-weeks booking schedules. I just want a good 6-8 person cake from a nice place.
