As anyone not living under a rock knows, there is an extreme amount of concern right now that Russia may be very close to launching a large-scale conventional invasion of Ukraine. So for us at WSB the question naturally becomes, if the crazy Ivans drive their tanks across the Ukrainian frontier how we can turn it into an investment play? One major opportunity that presents itself is in the market for Palladium. The one section of the Russian economy that is deeply tied to the American economy is in the area of Platinum group metals, specifically Palladium. Palladium is used in the production of catalytic converters and multi-layer ceramic capacitors. By far the majority of new palladium mined is produced in Russia and South Africa. In 2020, 43% of the world’s palladium production came from Russia, 33% from South Africa, 9.5% from Canada and only 6.6% from the United States. Of the 110,000 Kilograms of Palladium consumed by the United States in 2020, 78,000 Kilograms had to be imported, with the balance coming from domestic production and Palladium recovered from recycling. 38% percent of the Palladium imported into America comes from Russia. One can clearly see that since America is largely reliant on imports of Palladium, any disruption to the world Palladium markets will cause palladium prices in America to change dramatically.

The US government and other western countries have been threatening to enact very harsh sanctions on Russia in the event of an invasion of Ukraine and the Russian government has recently retaliated by stating that in the event such sanctions are made that it will cut off diplomatic relations to the United States. If the sanctions in question include a ban on palladium exports or if the Russian government cuts off palladium exports to the US, there will be an extreme supply shortage in the US market and the price will dramatically rise.

Despite global palladium production in 2020 being lower than 2019 production, prices palladium prices over the past several months have fallen from their peak of $2,890, largely as a result of the global chip shortage. I see that Palladium has a first and second edition in bundle of holding and I was wondering what differentiates the two. I probably won't play either one, just looking for some good reading material with the potential to play.

It's rainy Sunday afternoon now for me. I have my coffee next to me and some relaxing music. I feel like a writer! This review is very lengthy so skip to sub-headings you need.

Why I am writing this review:

I have bought more than 40 bags (from about 6 popular sellers here and about 5 AE/DHG sellers) since I found this group and never have posted any review. Not because I do not want to contribute to the group, but 1) I have been really not so confident with my English, 2) did not want to recommend a seller/a bag and then anyone gets bad experience, 3) doing any harm to any seller because of my review. But, screw all that! I really wanted to share my experience this time because it is so far the best shopping experience!

why did I ventured out to find a new seller:

I been lurking TB to find undiscovered rep sellers in China after the drama with some sellers and factories. I lost my trust. I don't know why but I have been keep thinking there must be some really good sellers who offer great quality bags with very attractive price, and they must be mostly selling domestically within China due to language barrier, and do not see much need to reach out to overseas customer because their business is good already. And maybe they do not want to deal with custom issues.

How did I reach out to seller/sellers:

So on TB, most rep sellers will have only a few items uploaded on their shop. You send a chat to the seller and their wechat ID will be included in auto-reply. Add the ID on wechat and start conversation with the seller. I went through about 10 sellers I found on TB. So yes what I learned is, if you want to save your time and be assured of certain level of quality, go straight to one of the sellers on Repladies! But at last I found the best seller I have ever met so far. I found ⭐Star⭐.

What I learned about Hermes reps:

Thread- Auth Hermes uses waxed linen threads. Naturally slightly uneven in thickness (like plus minus 0.01? We won't really be able to tell. But I found leather bag makers complain about this as it makes harder for them to hand stitch) with light sheen from bees wax. For bags, Hermes uses 0.57mm thickness.

Hello! Hoping to travel in for the Vagrant 26 show in June, which is on the outdoor stage. Haven't bought tickets yet and am debating between the GA tickets and the VIP early entry ones. The VIP tickets list the following as benefits:

VIP ticket includes early entry. Separate entrance. Crowd free merch. Separate viewing area. Private bathrooms. Separate bar and concessions with specials and promotions. Limited seating and shaded area.

I'm not from the area and have never been to the venue, so I'm curious the advantages of those tickets. Any pictures I've seen of past outdoor shows look crowded as hell and hard to tell what (if any) separate viewing area it might entail. Separate viewing areas and private bathrooms might be the biggest draw for me, so curious how those are.

So, understanding that each show is unique and past VIP experiences might not match what happens at this one, I'm curious if anyone has any insight or thought if VIP (given it's double the cost basically) is worth it? Do they sell hundreds of VIP tickets and it becomes crowded in it's own way?

My wife's palladium engagement ring broke/severed right across the band. See photos. I brought it to the Jeweler who I bought it from, a respected a company in ATL. They advised Palladium band prongs are fragile and they are no longer selling palladium in the store, but certainly advised they could remake the ring in Platinum for a charge.

Im curious thoughts on this statement and whether thats a true statement on Palladium or just a store preference to push other materials.

Hey all!

I have for sale my Visconti Homo Sapiens Dark Age with an EF palladium nib. I got this from another Redditor several years ago. One of the tines looks like it was slightly bent at one point (before I received it). I have had two nibmeisters work on it a little bit - the first one tightened up the tines a bit for a more dry of writing experience (Visconti is quite wet with its ink output). The second slight adjustment was made by the late Jim Rouse at the Chicago Pen Show a few years ago. That opened up the flow a bit again. But I want to note that the nib is a little scratchy in one direction still, in my opinion.

I love the weight of it. I added the turquoise finial on top of the cap. This will come with the stock finial as well. There are a few scratches to some black metal areas. Of course the pen body itself, made from lava rock and resin mixture, does not show much wear to my eye.

Other hobbies have taken over my time, and I tend to reach for some of my other more sentimental pens most of the time. So this one should go on to someone who will use it more!
