A list of puns related to "Nine Lessons and Carols"
I am currently listening to an Advent service under the BBC's Choral Evensong branding and will be listening to both the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols from BBC Radios 4/3 but I was also wondering what are some other services that I can watch and/or listen to that would be good for a devout RC who has a love for this service in addition to the traditional Catholic Midnight Mass.
Are their any Ordinariate churches that I should look into in the United States of America or the United Kingdom that could possibly either live-stream the service or broadcast it via radio networks like the BBC?
I'm a RC who enjoys listening to Anglican psalms and hymns to further my walk with God.
If I enjoy listening to BBC's Radio 3's program Choral Evensong and their yearly broadcast of Nine Lessons from the Chapel of King's College Cambridge, what else could you recommend that I listen to?
PS: How similar/difficult is Anglican church music from Roman Catholic music?
I have had a most remarkable year in my local Church of Ireland and wanted to share with you all. I was baptized, confirmed and married this year and now am rounding off with the tremendous honor of reading the first lesson in our Nine Lessons and Carol service.
As a woman who was raised questioning God and the love of Jesus, I have felt the most profound welcome and home in the Anglican Church since joining the church and I couldnβt be more pleased or humbled to be so welcomed into this church and community. Merry Christmas and God bless you all!
I'm from NC and visiting NYC for a few days. Back home my church does the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols the Sunday before Christmas, rather than Christmas Eve or morning. It's one of my favorite services and I'm kinda bummed about missing it, but thought it would be cool to see it in an old NYC church. Saint Thomas looks like the most viable location for me, but I don't know if it will be too full for me to get a seat? Does anyone know whether it fills up for big services?
Same thing as this one but slightly different line up: Pappy's, Darren Hayman, Scroobius Pip, Matt Parker, Alexei Sayle, Norman Lovett, Gavin Osborn, Lucie Green, Aoife McLysagt
Just in case there's people that can't make it to the 18/prefer this line up.
There's a christmas show at the Bloomsbury Theatre which looks pretty good. Every date other than the 15th and 23rd (which I can't make) are sold out. The show on the 15th includes:
Proceeds to the Rationalist Association.
I have no idea who about half of those people are, but the ones I do recognise are great fun. Feel free to read more one the website (I'm writing this on a phone).
Here's where it gets complicated: The show is selling out fairly quickly, but it's also allocated seating at checkout without being able to choose a seat. So what probably makes sense is that you can either:
I plan to buy my own ticket before midday on Sunday. If anyone wants me to buy a ticket for them at the same time, you can paypal me the appropriate amount (to my reddit username at gmail dot com) before Sunday and I'll order your ticket at the same time as mine. Alternatively, if you happen to see me tomorrow, you can give me the money in person (although that would require the remarkable coincidence of you either being at Earl's Court, O2 Academy Brixton or Fluid Bar at the same time as me).
I've not used Paypal to receive money for ages, so I can't remember if it lets you attach notes to payments. If it does, include your
It would be helpful if you could PM me the same details, including your PayPal email, just so I can keep track of it all.
If it all goes wrong and they sell out before I buy the ticket

I began writing a nonfiction book a few years back on a historical/current event I was part of with other people. I stopped because of writer's block for a few years, and one day while looking for tips I checked out this sub one day and read a post recommending typing 250 words a day. I had a lot of time waiting around at my then job and so I typed some words here and there on my cellphone into a Google document during the day, then edited on my laptop at night.
When my manuscript was done, I began going through the editing process and struggled until I learned a good editing lesson: Have your manuscript read to you through your word processorβs text to voice. Hearing the errors made it so much easier to fix, and the stuff I thought had thought I had caught but I missed was enormous. I started sending out queries in the fall to multiple agents and publishers. I only heard back from two, and even had one publisher pitch it with their committee. It didnβt work out, but those failures taught me lesson No. 2: My blurb was solid enough to get noticed and read, even if it wasnβt accepted.
I finally decided to just self-publish the book, using a cover I created. I didnβt know (and still donβt) know how to create Epubs and had to use Kindleβs system. I couldnβt get the image to fit on the paperback cover at the time, so I only published a Kindle version (I figured no one really bought paperbacks anyway).
I had 0 reviews to start, which taught me lesson No. 3: If you want reviews when you launch, send out advanced reader copies. If not, youβll have to wait for reviews to trickle in, unless people really love or hate your book.
I misjudged my audience and their wants horribly, a lot of them also wanted a paperback version. This taught me lesson No. 4: Reach your intended audience first. Especially when it comes to nonfiction, make sure to provide those are interested in the subject the formats they use. People buy paperbacks! And some people want signed copies!
I scrambled to publish a paperback version, finally getting my cover image to fit, but then I learned lesson No. 5:
Make sure to have author copies available early, or else you will be waiting weeks to send out signed copies to people. When I finally got them in, it was the most rewarding part of the whole process sending them out to people who had been there.
After getting good feedback from my intended audience, I decided to try the whole marketing thing. I Googled about amazon ads and
