Where to buy authentic grandfather mantel/standing clocks?
My grandma has a standing grandfather clock that was made during the time Germany was still split east vs west. I’m trying to find a mantel or standing grandfather clock to start a family heirloom to pass down but in my initial online searches are coming up with Amazon or other similar retailers.
Where is a good place to start looking for a potential heirloom clock? What is the biggest characteristic to consider when looking at clocks? And what is your favorite style/brand of clocks? :)
Any way to treat uneven ticking and eventually stopping for a mantel clock?
I own a Session clock that has been maintained nicely... No dust in the gears, no rust, and the brass is very clean. I stored it away a few months ago and have taken it out, and when I tried getting the pendulum in motion it began having uneven ticks 5 seconds in and eventually just lost momentum and stopped entirely. I have taken the face off... Examined it. I have made sure to wind it tightly enough, but it just seems to stop for no reason. Any clue on why this may be happening? Does it need an oil?
Advice needed on this large mantel clock please. I won it at a church auction and it's about the same age as the house. Does it look overwhelming on the top fireplace mantel? Should I hang it on a wall instead? I'm really torn on how to display it. BTW don't mind the dead mouse cat toy.

I have this rather lovely 1880s French mantel clock, which is running to time and chiming correctly. The only problem with it is the chiming is more of a very slow “dink” than a sonorous ding. I’ve tried loosening the bell a little, but it doesn’t alter the way the hammer rests on it. Any ideas?
1920s Sessions Mantel Clock - Need Help Identifying Model

I'm trying to identify a Sessions mantel clock that was purchased new by my grandmother in 1927. It appears to be a Venice (Model 2712), but the only examples of that clock that I can find online are of a cream color as opposed to a faux marble finish. There is no hardware on the sides of the clock and to my knowledge has never been altered. Unfortunately, the instruction paper on the underside of the clock is mostly gone. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
