I just watched Steve Kaufmann's interview regarding Mandarin and Cantonese.
He recommended not using hanzi for the first few months, only listening and pinyin. I think my lack of vocab in Chinese is probably due to the difficulty of learning pronunciation plus characters plus meaning and barely remembering any of it in the end.
So I found a Chinese novel I really want to read. I'm thinking to convert the characters to pinyin (using Google translate or something similar) and reading it that way to expand vocab first.
I am also planning to learn (and re-learn) 10 new hanzi per day, focusing on vocab I already know before I learn any new words.
Has anyone used any similar methods (reading in pinyin/other Chinese romanisation system)? How did it go?
I know my English improved exponentially by reading books, but due to Chinese using hanzi I always feel like reading even the simplest things is too challenging. I think focusing on vocab and oral language first would boost my vocab a lot quicker, then I can worry about characters as a separate issue.

These guys I recently discovered and found their stuff interesting. However this video was entirely useless.
Has any one of you guys REALLY invested tonnes of time into comprehensible input ? (basically bombarding your brain with audio+text in the target language until it the language becomes second nature to you)
How do you guys handle the cases, declensions and other idiosyncrasies of the language? Do you have to stop and think what case is it and what article you should use?

Are yβall also struggling with that unique Stunt where you get the sparrow? I probably repeated it like 30 times and still didnt got it and its the last thing that Im missing for 100% besides the last mission. Any advices?
Hallo, ich bin seit 3 Jahre in Deutschland und arbeite ich als Pfleger, aber jetzt mit covid und so weit QuarantΓ€ne bla bla ist mir langweilig. Beruflich ich habe als Juris in Uni gelernt, aber weil meine Urkunde ist von Macedonia, und ist nicht gleich Gesetze hier und was habe i h gelernt darum wollte ich etwas anderes machen. Meine frage ist was meinen sie alle uber diese ausbildungen oder konnte mir jemand helfen was kann ich hier machen aber da muss gleich sein wie meine Studium. Danke
Kaufmann's much ridiculed Christmas CD last year was accompanied by an atrocious TV special broadcast on German TV.... another one aired last night, and--while still incredibly cheesy--surprisingly it was significantly better, musically speaking! can't find excerpts on YouTube to share... wonder if anyone else caught it?
