A. Introduction
Yi San and Royal Noble Consort Uibin Seong, you rock!
I wrote this discussion and analysis for the following groups of people:
(1) Those who are curious about "The Red Sleeve" because of the buzz and hype about the drama;
(2) Those who have watched "The Red Sleeve" and have become interested to know more about the lives and times of Yi San aka King Jeongjo, Royal Noble Consort Uibin Seong, King Yeongjo, Queen Jungsoon, Princess Hwawan, Hong Deok-ro, Lady Hyegyeong, etc;
(3) Those who have become interested in watching "Yi San" because of "The Red Sleeve" but are intimidated by its 77 episodes; and
(4) Those who love romance dramas but aren't fans of historical dramas.
If you belong to the 4th group, please do give "The Red Sleeve" and "Yi San" a chance. To give you an idea of how incredibly romantic these dramas are and how they will make you cry your eyes out for the next three months or so, here are scenes from "The Red Sleeve" (JPG and GIF) and from "Yi San" (GIF).
You can also watch the official trailer for "The Red Sleeve" and an MV for "Yi San" (but watch only up to the 3:09 mark of the MV because the rest are spoilers).

I moved to Korea last year at the very beginning of the pandemic when the first few cases hit Daegu. I havenβt been back to SG since lol (got vaxxed here too) but anyway I hope to give some insight to those who are on the fence!
1. How are social distancing guidelines in Korea right now?
Seoul and the greater metropolitan area (Gyeonggi Province) is Level 4. Other cities (Busan, Jeonju, Jeju) are Level 3. Assuming everyone in your group is fully vaccinated, you can have up to 8 people (or 10 for Level 3, as of Oct 15). Level 4 also means that all establishments have to close at 10pm but restaurants can continue to do takeaway/delivery. Mask mandate continues.
2. Are the tourist spots still open?
Myeongdong has been very badly hit. Donβt bother. The shopping streets in Ewha and Dongdaemun (areas that had tourists as their main customer base) are pretty quiet. But life in other areas is basically quite normal and business is as per usual. Iβd say donβt worry too much about that - just look for spots that locals go to. As for attractions (theme parks etc), still open, just running at less capacity. I saw pictures of Everland being super full last week.
3. I wanna travel to Jeju/a different city (instead of Seoul). How do I make that happen with VTL?
You have to isolate for a day until your negative test results come back. Technically if you can make private transport arrangements, you can go to whatever city you want after you land and isolate there. But of course itβs going to be challenging going straight to Busan or Jeju (practically impossible) with private transport from Incheon Airport. So you should stay a day in Seoul/somewhere nearer to Incheon first until the next morning. Then youβre free to go.
4. How does contact tracing happen if I visit a cluster?
If itβs a big cluster, there will be a public health alert / disaster message thing sent to all phones in the administrative area of that particular establishment to advise you to get tested (free). And if you visited at the same time, you should also be contacted by the local health center to get a mandatory test (free). Theyβll get your contact number because before you enter any restaurants / shopping mall etc youβll have to sign in, like how SG does TT I supp

The missions stop pretty short, colonization as them is strange, and their old world gameplay is dissapointing. Here's my ideas for a better Japan.
Colonization. Colonization as Japan is lacking in something. It needs something to be a bit more unique so your not just playing Asian Great Britain. Firstly, how about random headaches? After the new world is found, how about a random clan, either an existing one or a new/generated one, spawns in the new world on the coast against you. For example, Hosokawa appearing in Baja California after I kicked them out as Oda. Thats just one idea, not sure how well it could be, though.
Unique Mechanics. Europe has the HRE, which plays out brilliantly. I do think something like it would benefit Japan. In Japan, the emperor has always existed. Yes, his power has been removed multiple times, but he was never dethroned. So, rather than him not existing at all, he is used in HRE style mechanics. Perhaps, if your the Shogun, your goal is to weaken the emperor. While if your a Daimyo, you can choose to support either of the two. If you get the emperor strong enough, he can spawn as your leader (6 in 2 stats) and start a war against the shogun with every other emperor supporter. Maybe, if only one daimyo supports the emperor and wins, that can lead to a new way to form Japan in a single, large war. Just an idea.
Any other ideas? I like adding something similar to the Papacy, HRE, or MoH mechanics to Japan, as I think it'd fit well.
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
NOTE - POST UPDATED: The Google map vectorization update of my account was implemented yesterday(Dec 7th), so I am attaching a new screenshot of the Google map I captured.
Seoul, Incheon, and the surrounding area.
Seoul City Hall, Gwanghwamun Square, and the surrounding area.
Yesterday, December 4th, South Korean data on Google Maps finally switched from bitmap to vectorization. It feels like it's been 6 years and 8 months since April 2015. Now I don't have to write a dirty old bitmap!
However, there is still a long way to go since it has been updated only for certain users and IPs.(Car and walk navi system service still appears to be in closed-beta testing.) I don't have Google Maps vectorization, so I have to use it as a bit map, but it will be more convenient when it will be updated around January 1st next year after closed-beta testing is completely finished. Feel free to use Google Maps when you travel to South Korea! :)
- What's MORE comfortable after the update?
- What's LESS com

However, all their attention is diverted in Manchuria fighting the Empire of the Black Sun. The βinferiorβ Japanese (In Pyongist Ideology Japanese people are deemed as racially inferior to Koreans) proved to be more than a match for the Pyongist military and demanded full effort. As such, they could not spare the bulk of their army to defend South Korea. To mitigate that, they would undergo a mass conscription in the south as well as hastily creating fortifications all over the coasts. Along with that, the Pyongist still have one weapon to unleash against the Coalition. Their nuclear arsenal.
On August 19 2066, 10 nuclear missiles launched from various bunkers all across Korea, flying straight to Jeju. Fortunately, ASEAN has nearly perfected their anti nuclear missile technology in which Nigerian scientists helped develop. The coalition in Jeju watched as 10 nuclear warheads exploded in the far far distance over the South Jeolla Province like fireworks. ASEAN warships as well as the system of installations and counter-missiles have successfully eliminated the nuclear missiles safely. The coalition collectively sighs in relief as the anti-nuclear missile system is actually not yet perfected and it is lucky that none of the missiles made it to Jeju. With nuclear weapons seemingly useless against the coalition, the Pyongist would save the rest of their nukes against the Japanese, something which will have dire consequences.
The first objective of the coalition was to seize Busan as it is the major port city. The Pyongist have always depended on the Chinese for naval protection and now China is no more. Their relatively outdated navy was blown out of the water by the massive Coalition navy and thus the coalition can begin their invasion of Busan through an amphibious landing. The Pyongist have already set up coastal batteries in the Geoje islands as well as Namhae Island, aiming to prevent troops from landing in Busan. Meanwhile, the naval mines placed all over the southern coast of Korea were eliminated by minesweeper ships. In is all in spite however as coalition naval bombardment and air bombing destroyed the coastal defences in the Islands. The naval landings can now begin. Under heavy fire, coalition marines began landing unto the beaches with heavy casualti

I recently started playing a Manchu campaign. In the process of coring Jeju, Rebels spawned on the island during a war with the shogunate, so I was unable to siege it back. When the rebel's progress bar achieved 100%, the whole Korea peninsula was released. Did they change how rebel mechanics work? I thought that only the rebel-occupied provinces were released after their certain amount of time?
