The Korean tradition of deep-sea diving for fresh seafood dates back to the 5th century. Initially, males dominated this profession. However by the 18th century, women divers, also known as Haenyeo (ν΄λ ) or βsea womenβ gradually became associated with this tradition. In November 2016, the Haenyo from Jeju Island, South Korea were inscribed in UNESCOβs Intangible Cultural Heritage list.
The Origins of The Haenyeo Women Divers β ν΄λ
The Haenyeo are best known as the female divers from Jeju Island. Without proper equipment, they dive into waters twenty meters deep to catch fresh seafood from the depths of the ocean. Equipped with only a lead-weighted vest and goggles, this women make dozens of dives a day while holding their breath for slightly more than two minutes at a time.
Diving as a Haenyeo is no mean feat β for the work is often backbreaking and dangerous. Due to the grueling nature of the work, the Sea Women portray a rich tradition that is slowly being eroded. Through mastering the craft over the years, many of them have replaced their husbands as the breadwinner of the household.

The iconic Irish rock band U2 performed "The Joshua Tree 2019" tour at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul, South Korea (8 December 2019). During the show, when U2 performed Ultraviolet (Light My Way), Jose Jeulandβs photography series of portraits of Haenyeo which were women drivers from Jeju Island were featured in the show. The performance was held in Seoul and is part of Joshua Tree tour. U2 shared a touching tribute dedicated to powerful women in Korean history. When the group performed their song βUltraviolet (Light My Way)β, the screens displayed images of famous women who've made an impact on Korean society or encouraging change. U2 voiced out that βwomen of the world uniteβ in Korea. The stage was also the most extravagant, using an LED screen 61 meters wide and 14 meters high and 8K resolution. The backdrop was a huge Joshua tree-shaped construction adorned with lights. The substage also in the shape of Joshua Tree. This is the biggest scale concert among all concerts by an international artist so far. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
