Because there has to be something going on culturally, mentally, shit even spiritually for this to be so commonplace. My brain needs an explanation.

KEY POINTS
Recent research suggests that individuals with high-functioning autism may be more likely to report anomalous perceptions.
Gifted children and people who are highly empathetic may also be more likely than most to report anomalous perceptions.
One research team even suggested that βanomalous perception may be experienced by the majority of high-functioning adultsβ with autism.
This past summer, I came across a most curious report. A family in central California drove into the mountains and stopped to have lunch. Thatβs when their day started to veer wildly from what theyβd planned. As they were eating, their 3-year-old son Kadyn began talking to someone. Pointing to a spot in a nearby meadow, he informed his parents that a woman was lying face down, unable to speak or move. βHe flat out told us, βMom, sheβs dead; she needs our help,'β said his mother. βThatβs when I got the goosebumps.β
Kadyn, described a woman in a black shirt, with blue jeans and blue hair. He said that sheβd been βshooted by a bad man.β His parents checked out the meadow but saw nothing. So spooked were they by what their young son insisted, they decided to end their recreation day early and head home. Once there, they posted on Facebook. A Madera County Sheriffβs deputy saw the post and contacted them to investigateβsince a woman matching Kadynβs description had gone missing for more than two weeks in that vicinity. Sandra Johnsen-Hughes had been camping alone in the Sierra National Forest; authorities found her crashed car and a βquite disheveledβ campsite but, despite an extensive search, no sign of her. Nor was any further trace found when the deputy took Kadyn and his family back to the meadow. However, Kadyn identified the woman in 3 out of 4 photos that he was shown.
While this report is open to questions (e.g., Was the boyβs account driven by an over-active imagination?; Might he have been coached by his parents for publicity purposes?), it aligns with more systematic evidence that certain kinds of peopleβsynesthetes, gifted children, people who are highly empathetic, children with sensory processing disorder, and at least some individuals with autismβare more likely than most to report anomalous perceptions.

Can't tell you how excited I am to share this! Huge breakthrough for my research!
My 2nd great-grandfather, Moische Dreer, immigrated to New York on June 25, 1891 with his son Abram from "Russia". They moved to Philadelphia and around January of 1892, purchased tickets for the rest of the family to be delivered to Lemburg, or Lwow, Poland - wife Tsipa "Zippe" Dreer, and children Benzion, Itzhak, and Josef, who arrived in Philadelphia on Feb 15, 1892. On the passenger list, their last residence was Czernowitz. Lots of info to work with for origins!
But that's where the trail runs dry in Philadelphia. I can't locate Moische or Zippe Dreer in the 1900 US Census or any census after, no graves, death certs, naturalization, just nothing. I check the cemeteries where the kids are buried - no dice. I search every variation of Morris and Celia, Moishe and Tsipa, etc. Even worse, all the kids list their parents as Morris and Celia on their death certs so I know it's them, just can't locate anything for the life of me.
Now the kids, Abe, Benny, Joe, and Isaac (Isadore, my ggf) all naturalize in Philly. On Benjamin and Joe's naturalization papers, they list "Winnitza" as their place of birth. This leads me to find a Dreer family in Vinnitsa from their archives where everything matches - Moische is "Aron-Moyshe Shmulovich Dreer", wife Tsipa, Abe and Joe are listed in the 1891 family census of Jews. Case closed, right?
But I still can't find where Morris and Celia went! Until Friday!
Going through Newspapers.com to find an obituary for a cousin, I decide to search for Dreer between their arrival in 1892 and 1910. And after sifting through pages and pages of Dreers in Philadelphia (since a famous Dreer family ran a large seed business there) I locate a very interesting article.
"Foreigner Wants His Name Changed. Desiring to have his name legally recorded as Abraham Dreer. Abraham Goldstein yesterday petitioned Judge Dallas in the United States Circuit Court to have it so written on his naturalization papers. He stated that his name was Dreer, but that when he came to this country from Russia, he found his father using the name of Goldstein, and so he, too, assumed it. He was naturalized under that name. The court withheld its decision..." The Philadelphia Inquirer, April 26, 1904.
Hmm! So I take a look at Abraham's naturalization as Abraham Dreer - it occurs on June 6, 1904. Well that can't just be a coincidenc
... keep reading on reddit β‘In Psychology Today, there is an article titled: How Toxic Families Choose a Child to Scapegoat
EDIT: Link to the article: https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/tech-support/202104/how-toxic-families-choose-child-scapegoat
It has some insights on scapegoating and how parents choose it. Of course it does not delve nearly as deeply into Nparents as we do here. Still - there are some highlights from the article, namely the "reasons" the SC is chosen:
Suffice it to say, I got all 4 of these constantly growing up. Check out the article if you can and respond back with your thoughts on it.

Small-Cap Stocks Are in Line to Be Big Winners in 2022
Look at the 1 month chart and it's been a steady drop since these 2 articles happened. Very frustrating as I went all in on small caps and they are easily my biggest losers especially on a day like today with the market super up.
Since the 12th, there has been only ONE day the Index went up (by a measly 5 points), every other day has gone down.

Ellen Walker, PhD, is a CF psychologist and author whose books about CF living have been recommended in this sub a small handful of times. I havenβt read those, so I canβt speak on them, but this post isnβt about them anyway.
Itβs about an article she wrote for Psychology Today in 2012. In it, she writes about the advantages and disadvantages of being a parent as well as those of being childfree.
And I gotta tell you, it ainβt great.
The first advantage of being a parent? Fitting in: β...if you like to feel like youβre part of the mainstream, then parenting is for you.β
Because a fear of being outcasted is a perfectly good reason to bring a human life into the world.
But later, she cites one of the disadvantages of being CF, and in so doing, bingos all CF people, herself included: βYou wonβt have anyone to take care of you in your old age.β
Palms face Oh, doc. You need this subreddit.
