A list of puns related to "History of taxation in the United States"
So I think most liberals/democrats want America to be more similar to Western European nations, and everything political that is included in that(Universal Healthcare, at least some Universal Public College, public transportation etc..). I, at least very much want those things and with the Obama years I thought we were at least trending in that direction.
Part of me doubts it will ever happen because America was borne out of a individualistic mindset, and I think that permeates through the ideas of a lot of Americans. The why do I have to pay for other people's stuff, the I got mine and I worked hard for it, I don't want people being lazy. I think that just may be a base part of the idea of America for so many people, and I don't know if it will ever change.
Do you guys feel it is possible for the change in mindset I see as necessary for our country to change for the better? Do you see a slightly different mindset in millennials? Or do you believe that a change in mindset is not needed to implement improvements? Or could it be possible that I'm just an idiot and reading the whole situation wrong, and by and large most Americans don't think like this. Open to any ideas and looking forward to a discussion!
For anyone interested to read the journal article by Witzel, Michael E.J. (Harvard) on how the indians changed history to change perception of muslims and promote self interests.
I was told that women didn't receive healthcare in the early 1900s and that the only people that did receive healthcare was white men. I was wondering if there is any historical significance to this or if there was any factual data out there that I could point to that proves/disproves this statement.
Specifically in cases of outright rejection of the concept of climate change and various aspects relating to scientific and civic aspects of sustainability and it's relationship with climate change, or even approving of climate change as a concept.
Less specifically, in cases of farm runoff, oceanic and river dumping, air pollution, overharvesting of seafood, ect.
While I understand that this question might be calling to mind the greatest extremes and outliers of the American Evangelical movement, the idea that widely listened-to individuals who claim that "The world will end in xx amount of years, and that mankind has total dominance over the earth and can use it as they see fit" and similar things around those lines in large theater-like structures seems relevant to the question of environmental education in general.
Writing a story where the main character grew up in a brothel in the very early 1900s. i was wondering if anyone knows the history of brothels. also, I know children grew up in them? were the children abused or anything?
If we are talking about great nations, the United States wins hands down. Not one country can beat it in terms of:
I think the majority of the people who disagree with me are actually trying to answer this question:
Which country today provides the highest quality of life for the average citizen?
The answer to that is probably not the United States today. It is likely Sweden, Canada, the UK, etc. However, as competence in a given field grows, the chance that the highest earning position is in the US grows exponentially.
Change my view.
