Want: literally anything, with particular interest in herbs, medicinal value, and pollinators or anything colorful. If you have witch hazel, passionflower, or grape cutting/seed I'm also willing to pay for those if you don't want to trade what I have. There may be more I'm forgetting, will add when I get home if so. PM me with offers!
The Hibiscus in my garden is soon coming into bloom. I'm wondering if it'll be good in a homebrew. It could be an IPA, Saison or Pale Ale, but mead might also work.
According to the wiki page, the flowers are edible and used in herbal teas, just like your "regular" Hibiscus.
I know the routine. I should brew a tea with the flowers to see how it tastes. I'm just wondering about other people's experiences, though.
The following article gives information about its specific features as well as brief instructions for its cultivation. http://kalliergeia.com/en/rose-of-sharon-hibiscus-syriacus/
I have this Rose of Sharon that has been growing strong in the ground in 5B hardiness zone. Pics below.
My goal is to put it into a bonsai pot and train it.
Last February, during dormancy when it had no leaves, I chopped back some of the thicker unwanted branches.
In the spring and through first half of summer it flourished with tons of new growth and it doing extremely well.
This week, I dug it up and pulled it out of the ground. I left a good size root ball, but obviously some of the main roots were severed with my shovel.
I dug the hole a little bit and replanted it in the ground with some fresh putting soil.
When can I put it into a bonsai pot?
Should I do it right now? Wait until fall? Winter?

We have an enormous Rose of Sharon immediately outside our back door, and at the edge of our existing, dilapidated deck. In looking to redo our deck, we're also wanting to extend it a few feet - right into the path of our lovely plant.
This thing is huge - 8' high, and about 5' wide. We'd love to keep it, just somewhere else in the yard. Does anyone have advice on moving anything this size, or at least splicing it off for transplant elsewhere to grow anew?
