A list of puns related to "Dock connector"
I'm sure you all have seen video of a jet fighter refueling in mid air, right? The tanker plane deploys a boom with a funnel on the end and a connector, and the boom deploys from the jet fighter, and they easily mate up.
I'd love to have some sort of funnel shaped thing which enables me to easily line up two connectors without having to look at them from multiple angles, etc.
I realize there are scripts which can dock, but those are very slow also. Isn't there a better way?
Hereβs why: I bought a 4k 10bit HDR LG UltraFine 27UP850.
Unfortunately for some reason FreeSync is only available with the HDMI and DisplayPort connectors and is not available using the USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode. (If you know why let me know)
What I would do is to connect the USB-C output from the monitor to the Dock only for PowerDelivery up to 96W and to enable the USB ports on the back. Then use the separate DisplayPort connector on the monitor.
The idea is to combine them into a single USB-C port on my Intel MacBook Pro 16β.
I saw a similar Dock on AliExpress but it uses HDMI which I think doesnβt support HDR with 10bit.
My 5.5 has a little crack on the dock connector and want to replace it with a new one. People have changed screen, batteries, hard drives, etc... but I have not come across dock connectors.
Is this an easy replacement to do or better to stir away? If doable, how do I go about it, please? Many thanks to all!
I have a amd p14s gen1. Great laptop but I am curious what connection the side dock port provides? understand the old thinkpad docks were pcie, and newer ones use Thunder bolt instead.
As it doesn't have thunderbolt, is it just like another USB 3.2 port? Or some sort of direct pcie port?
Struggling to find any info. Thanks in advance X
Interesting one, the dock connector on my (new to me) 20GB iPod Photo doesn't line up very well, to the point it's a struggle to actually plug anything in to! I've opened it up and can't see anything obvious. Wondered if anyone has experienced this before?
Also, the dock connector surround is broken, does anyone have a source? My google-fu has let me down. I know EOE has second hand ones, but I'm in the UK and having just done an order from EOE, I don't think I can justify the postage cost for one tiny dock surround
When I connect for my phone to my car via USB physically, it by default, chooses Dock Connector over Bluetooth. I have to go into an option on the phone each time and it's annoying. Looking to save time by having it stay on Bluetooth even when plugged in. Do you know how to default it to Bluetooth?
Hi can anybody post some links for me on Amazon for me to get a replacement for this little part. I donβt want to get the wrong one. It needs to be round with three pins right?

I have an iPhone dock (the official Apple one) whose connectors has corrosion on one side. So, it will only let me charge from one side, which is a pain. I can't even replace it as it is very difficult to find and also very expensive. So, is there any way I can scratch the black part off the connector with like a toothpick?

Hi
I have a T14 Gen 1 laptop (Intel) and a ThinkPad USB-C Dock Gen 2.
I have mainly connected to my dock through the regular USB-C port, but have had some display issues. (blacks out every now and then).
A friend suggested i plug into the "dock" USB-C port. And it worked perfectly until it stopped working after a few days. I have since updated Windows, drivers and everything in vantage still nothing. The normal USB-C works normally.
When I tried to update the driver manually i got error 0x227 sdk_no_driver.
Abody have any ideas?
Edit: Turns out USB on the dock works, but not HDMI and Ethernet. I think i have heard of an issue like this before. It is a driver issue, but I cant remember what it is called.
Edit 2: ISSUE IS SOLVED. Updated to the latest Intel display driver through Intel driver update utility. Driver was not available when I made the initial post.
I'm about to purchase a Surface Pro 7 to upgrade from my trusty SP4 - have already got a Surface Dock and don't need any of the enhanced graphics support or USBC ports... can I carry on using the original Surface Dock with the new SP7?
I can't find anywhere whether or not the Surface Dock 2 has a different physical connector or not.
Hello, is there a keyboard or a dock that allow to charge though the smart connector? like the magic keyboard but not as exp ensive
Iβm having charging issues and looking for alternative

I need to drive 2 external monitors so gave in and purchased the Dock 2 for my Surface book 3. However the dock magnetic connector always gets over 40* Celcius (!), making the right half of the keyboard base considerably warmer than normal. I had used a HyperDrive USB-C dock before with an extend cable. Yes the dock itself got hot, but neither the connector nor the Book keyboard base did.
Is this normal, or even safe behaviour of the Dock 2?
(In case it helps, ambient temp was around 25-30 degrees, and I updated Dock 2 firmware from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=101317)
I have a iPod Classic 4th Gen that is still going strong....except for the dock connector. It is starting to fail and I was wondering if anyone knew where I can get a replacement? eBay/iFixit seem to have newer Gen classic dock connectors but I can't find one for 4th gen or earlier. Does anyone know if I can use a newer dock connector?
Is there an official service manual for the 4th Gen Classic?
Hello r/ipod !
I recently got my old nano 2nd gen out of my closet, and started playing with it. The Jack port is completly broken and does not make any sound. So, I found this weird Dock to Jack and FireWire connector (probably made for the Mini).
The weird dock to FireWire and jack connector.
And I used it to get my headphones working. And it worked ! Until one day... On the Rockbox firmware, it works just fine. Although on the iPod OS, it just doesn't work except if plugged in via FireWire.
That makes me guess it could be a power sharing issue : the dock connector could send power only if it is receiving some ? The thing is, it was working before !
How can I make it work on the original iPod OS ? I am bored of rebooting everytime I want to listen music in the bus... Thanks for any help and stay safe :)
I've been looking for a replacement for the USB-C cable that goes from the dock to the computer. The one that Dell includes (and every 3rd party aftermarket one I can find) use the exact same design which has a really thick, stiff cable, and the USB-C connector has a very long barrel which I'm worried will place too much leverage on fragile ports.
Is there a reason they're like this? Is it to support the beyond-PD-spec 130W charging (that I can't use anyway since I'm not using it on a Dell)? This is the one I'm talking about: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07JYZKWNP
This just seems like a product that could be very popular, and with magsafe in the iPhone 12, it just seems strange to me that there's no mount or dock for the iPad using its smart connector in the same way that the magic keyboard does. Something similar to this would be amazing, specially if Apple designed it. A third party could also make a mount/case similar to Belkins new 3 in 1 charging station. Does anyone know why this is? Or is there a product like this that actually exists?
