(Hi first time in this subreddit, please correct me if I did anything wrong)
It was....how many years into the Gornud War? I don't know, I was a barely the age of a human teenager. I am a Velenite, my race is one of many slave species to these "Bad dogs" that the humans called.
I remember seeing Humanity's jet black ships, entering our system, I remember the Gornuds using my people as shields. We were treated like mere objects of pleasure, I mean why not? We are considered beautiful, our long flowing hair, slim and fit bodies, and a long sensitive tail. Every Elite in the galaxy wanted at least 10 of us as pleasure slaves.
I thought that when Humans would take over, since everyone knew the Gornud Empire was on it's back legs, They discovered humans less than 4 years ago. They tried to attack their outer colonies, But how quickly they responded to their invasion left them speechless. Sure the Gornud were superior, but EMP's were something Humans loved to use.
Oh I'm getting off track. They arrived on my planet, It was a RAIN of METAL and FIRE, And outside these metal cocoons sprouted Human soldiers and Mechanized infantry. They barreled through, cutting down Gornud like a scythe to harvest wheat. I saw human soldiers literally punch a hole through a Gornud's skull, and pull out it's still beating brain before crushing it and moving onto the next.
I grabbed my siblings and ran. Where to? Anywhere the bullets were not flying. But then suddenly a Human landed in front of us. He looked young, his physique was not like the tall buff soldiers, and unlike human guns he carried a...hand cannon? It was too big to be a pistol but it looked like a human revolver. He looked at me, and at my siblings.
His face...was terrifying. He had a Gornud skull as the faceplate of his helmet. His dark navy blue hood hid his other facial features. He holstered his weapon and retracted the face plate.
He had...red eyes...blood red eyes. He looked at me saying "Come with me" as I hesitated. Suddenly a Gornud came out of nowhere, and opened fire. One of the shots hit me in the upper arm. The human ran past me, pulling out a small sword and stabbed the Gornud in the chest, removing his chest plate.
And then he did what I thought was usually impossible. He used his bare hands to literally rip out the heart of the Gornud as it screamed in pain.
The event literally caused me to faint. My siblings all clamoring towards me.
When I woke up. I was...well to be blunt...ALIVE. My sibli

Now I saw that there is the opportunity of doing this abroad and was wondering if someone here can share their experience they had and if it is recomendable or not

After hearing about the humanitarian crisis that is about to unfold across the eastern seaboard, General Alejandro has offered his help to both the United States and Alfheimr. βNo man should have to suffer the indignity of starving to death. If I can avert that, I shall.β
At the moment, this aid will be restricted to food supplies. Cargo ships are ready to be loaded and may reach any port on the Atlantic coast within 48 hours.
The sole requirement for this aid is that both the USA and Alfheimr agree to give both the vessels and the crews rendering aid guarantees of safe passage.
"Humanitarian Aid" was a foreign concept until Humans joined the Galactic Scale, During their war with the Gornud Empire, the humans battered their former unbreakable fleets with scorching cannon fire, their weapons could destroy legions from a distance, their physiology from a Death World Class 6, the first of its kind to be discovered and hopefully the last could overpower the average Gornud soldier in melee, and let us not forget how even we of the Council tried to ban the humans from using Flamethrowers, even Disintegrators were more civilized.
It was the 4th year of the Gornud Human War where they pushed deep into the Empires space, a long spearheaded operation or as they called it a "Blitzkrieg" of Ships battered the formerly thought impenetrable battle lines in the Galaxy. They arrived on my home world, Velenatia. My people were slaves, conscripts, property to the Gornud soldiers, every day they take our women and return them covered in wounds, if they would return at all.
It was the 8th month of fighting when I saw Humans break into our city and cut down Gornud troops down in a barrage of gunfire. Humans defeated them easily, I saw one tear out a Gornud heart from its chest with only its fist. I was horrified, surely they would have killed me and my sisters, when they turned to me and my sisters who were hiding underneath the rubble, I expected death, torture, violation, I wanted to offer myself in place of my siblings, anything.
Instead I was picked up, gently I may add, and I heard through the translator "GET A MEDIC UNIT OVER HERE!! We Got Civvies!!" and I thought to myself "Civilians? Could they mean...us?" and the other soldiers began to escort us to their base.
When we arrived the base was filled with humans in armor, but also smaller humans? no they were equipped different, white clothes and a distinct red cross on their uniforms, instead of weapons they had equipment that they were using on my people. The soldier put me down as a human walked towards us, she kneeled down towards me and smiled "lets get you fixed up shall we?" she said as she gave me a small brown rectangle, she looked at me and said "try it, its good" but I was skeptical, were they testing poisons on us? Without hesitation she broke off a piece and ate it "Mmmm delicious, its chocolate" she said as she offered the broken piece to me, I hesitated at first but I bit into it and the deliciousness that tickled my tongue could not be beaten even to this day. I ate and share

So here's the deal, I completed a bachelor's degree in Economics and Finance in Ireland and was lucky enough to land a position on a graduate program that placed me in New York.
It was an interesting multifaceted role where I gained general business and management skills, organising projects with budgets of over $100,000 and managing complex stakeholder relationships. I did that for 2 years before moving to a technology strategy consultancy.
I spent about 3 years at this next position where I built the business with the two co-founders to the point where I was leading a team of 5 analysts and consultants on large-scale strategy projects for organizations like Bank of America, PwC and Disney. These projects were technology-based but really focused on analysing the client's current situation and processes and providing them with a strategy on how to achieve preset objectives (reducing costs, improving the customer experience, increasing revenue etc.)
After about 3 years I had a bit of rut and decided to move back to Ireland to start a technology business - mid pandemic. I've been working on that for over a year now and it's starting to to go the right direction. We have about 8 people on the team, a number of clients and things are starting to go well but my heart's not really in it.
It's been an introspective year and I've come to the conclusion that I'd like to take my skills - critical thinking, problem-solving, people and project management, and general management - and apply them to the International Development/ Humanitarian Aid field.
Are there any roles in particular that I might be well suited for? I'm thinking project coordinator, camp coordinator or something along those lines.
Are there any organisations that would either value my more corporate experience or be willing to hire someone with no overseas aid experience?
Any suggestions on how to get my foot in the door and secure a 12m+ overseas contract would be greatly appreciated!
