A list of puns related to "Amelanchier canadensis"
I am assembling a mixed shrub/tree border in SW Ohio, Zone 6a under a dappled oak-hickory canopy that is generally moderate in moisture. I am looking for ideas for native (or some well-behaved non-native) lower matrix plants to fill in space between shrubs/understory trees until they mature to suppress weeds and provide a living mulch. It would be an added bonus if some of these could survive after shrubs reach maturity, but not required.
So far, Iβve used the following for matrix plants (from sunnier areas to deeper shade):
Shrubs/Understory Trees include or will include (in no particular order):
Will probably look at native ferns and wild ginger as well since I can propagate from existing stock. Also considering Mitchella repens (anybody have experience with this?)
Turns out I hit the jackpot. Using my phone GPS, here's a list of every species of native wild-growing tree (or at least species with tree potential) within 250ft of my house. That is, this list does not include any exotic species or anything planted or transplanted. There are 37 species within 250ft.

Hello!
I have a question about amelanchier (serviceberry) species. I would like to grow a serviceberry tree or two here in Quebec, for the flowers, fragrance, and berries (for us and the birds). From what I can tell, all serviceberries are beautiful, fragrant, and have similar (brief) flowering times, but I have read that not all berries are equal β Saskatoon berries seem to have much the best reputation, while I've seen Common or Downy serviceberry (amelenchier arborea) specifically denigrated as drier and less flavourful. Unfortunately, Saskatoons do not seem to be native anywhere near here, and I'd like to give a local species a hand. Does anyone have sufficient familiarity with the serviceberries to recommend a northeastern species? Among amelenchier arborea, laevis, or canadensis, does any of them stand out for flavour, yield, or other properties?
Many thanks!

For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies π

This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.
