A list of puns related to "Amelanchier"
photosHoping they'll pull through.. they were severely rootbound on industry clearance and are being installed in my own yard. I planted them but can dig them up again.. hoping it's because the roots were exposed in the pot and that soil contact will help but i'm hoping they last a good number of years so if I need to move them to sort it I can.
Can I grow a few saskatoons (Amelanchier alnifolia) as a smaller fruit bush in a more confined space along the fence?

Currently we have redcurrants and blackcurrants here but I would like to grow something that grows bigger so that we have better privacy from neighbours (while still edible). I am not sure what else could I plant, the space is small and it has to be tidy (so no blackberries or similar). It can be up to 6.5 feet (2 metres) in height, width can be around 2 feet (70 cm), length doesn't matter as long as it grows along the fence. I am in Zone 7 (Europe) so the coldest temperature is supposedly 5°F (or -15°C). Some images of saksatoon that I look up on web are trees but does that depend on a variety, how easily can I keep them small and dense, and how big can the roots grow? If someone has any suggestion on what to plant I would like to hear it :)
