A list of puns related to "Xiaomi"
Ask me anything! EDIT: wow thanks for silver it's my first ever award! Edit2: So many awards! Thank you guys
Hello there! Iβm thinking about getting Mi 5 band by Xiaomi as a gift for my whole family. I mean my wife, two kids (10 and 14 y.o.), and myself by family. I found out that it is relatively cheaper to order something from China instead of buying it in the US. I wonder if anyone has any experience in ordering something from China.
I want you to know in advance that Iβm not going to order anything from Aliexpress or websites like this. My friend who lives in Shanghai told me about the prices for some phones and gadgets by Xiaomi. Iβve checked their official website, and indeed prices are lower. Some stuff is way cheaper compared to what we get in the US.
My wife is a fitness enthusiast. So, every weekend our family doing a variety of activities, like playing volleyball, or we go swimming. Besides, my wife asked me to get her a good fitness tracker. So, I thought about Xiaomi fitness trackers as a gift. But when I found out about prices in China, I thought of getting fitness trackers for the whole family. Anyway, kids will beg me to get the exact gadgets for them too. So, why not save up some money and order everything. Besides, my friend told me that I can track my order on the china package tracking.
On the other hand, I have no idea what are the shipping costs are going to be. Besides, Iβm not sure that our customs will not charge me any additional fees for importing 4 new gadgets. Iβve never tried ordering something from China before. Except for Aliexpress, but it is another story.
I wonder if any of you tried to order something from China or any other country. What aspects should I consider before placing my order? Are there any additional costs except for shipping costs and declaration costs? Is it worth waiting, or is it better to get everything from the local retailers?
My father-in-law has a Redmi from 2 years ago and he raves about it. Says he likes it more than the Samsung Galaxy phone he had, by a mile. So I'm going to give it a shot, but not sure which phone to buy.
To me, the most important features are a good battery life (minimum a day with medium to medium-high use of the phone), fast charging, a good camera. Doesn't have to be the fastest phone, but fast. My Galaxy S8 I think has a 5.8" screen size, and I'm happy with something similar or even larger, but not smaller.
Thanks
Hey,
So, you might all know that Xiaomi had one heck of a success with its Redmi Note 8 series, back in 2019.
You might also know that Xiaomi likes for an odd reason to separate its European users, like me, from the global users by giving us "T" variants.
The Redmi Note 8T, the only version sold in Europe except for the Pro, seems to be abandonned by the brand...
The global Redmi Note 8 for example, is getting all the support and updates from Xiaomi, getting bug fixes and MIUI 12.5 before its pro variant.
The 8T on the other hand, just got a poor security update today, not changing anything at all, even though it's the exact same phone but with NFC...
A moderator recently said that MIUI 12.5 and onwards might never hit the 8T, only the 8, and I think that's totally unfair, not only because us Europeans don't have the choice to pick the regular 8, but also because the MIUI version the 8T is stuck on rn is total garbage: no more gaussian blur and no gesture pill.
So please Xiaomi, give us proper updates, it doesn't cost much, XDA devs can unify their ROMs, so you can too.
I tried going custom, and none satisfied me, some had audio issues, some were good but discontinued, some miss some options, xiaomi.eu has no Google Dialer/Messages (which I prefer)
So yeah, I wish seeing more support to the 8T from Xiaomi because I like their MIUI skin and I just want some updates man :(
Hi Community,
coming from a Redmi 4 Pro (yes it worked for 4,5 years). I bought the Note 10 Pro some days ago and wanted to share my experience:

I have a few readers, but always have a pocket reader and find I use that most.
My pocket reader for the last year has been a Hisense A5. Itβs good, and Iβve read at least a book a week on it. But after seeing the new Xiaomi Inkpalm 5 I thought Iβd try upgrading.
The main things I wanted to change on the A5:
My Inkpalm arrived today, and it does all of these things. I got it from https://www.cect-shop.com/en/xiaomi-moaan-inkpalm-5.html
Many of the Inkpalm specs are worse than the A5, but arenβt really important for my needs:
The Inkpalm is Chinese only out of the box (unlike the A5). I only want to run Moon+ Reader Pro on the device (in English). This is how I set it upβ¦
a) Followed steps 1-3 of https://github.com/epodegrid/epd106-ADB
b) Installed Amazon Appstore from the built in browser (it has an English keyboard selection)
c) Installed Moon+ Reader Pro from there.
So it runs my favourite reading software fine, and the parts of the OS I use are now in English. That's all I need, but I'll probably tinker with it a bit more.
The screen is quite shiny, and I haven't applied the screen protector as I never like them. I'll see how that goes, I rarely used the A5 in direct sunlight anyway as it caused heavy ghosting on the screen. And I'm in England, where we rarely see the sun.

Hey all,
Adam Conway from XDA-Developers here, and I have the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra in for review. I'll be doing some stuff over on our YouTube channel, but I'd love to answer any questions you may have as well - either here, or in the video I'm making! I put up some pictures on my Twitter if you want to check them out too :)
