A list of puns related to "Wasp Waist"
I'm new to this sub, so please forgive me any wrongdoings. I have a basic knowledge about biology, but that's it. Also, mobile user and english is not my main language.
So I catched a wasp in my flat to get it back outside. While it was buzzing in the glas, i started to wonder about a thing.
Why do wasps have such small waists? I mean it's a structural weak spot and has to be able to take a lot of weight from the back of the body. Is there an evolutionary reason for a body like that?
Thanks in advance for any answers!
There has to be something that isn't.
I've got a set of Dillon 9mm dies that I've been very happy with. I've probably loaded 30-40k round with them. It makes a pronounced "coke bottle/wasp waist" in the loaded cartridges. I've never had a problem, but I just picked up a CZ Czechmate recently, and have had feeding problems with the reloads. The rounds seem kind of unstable in the mag, and I think its the shape doing it. Considering its a 9mm major gun, being able to reload for it is essential. So I guess I have two questions: 1) has anyone else had feeding problems due to a wasp waist load and 2) what brand of size die is guaranteed not to do that?
This seems like such a bizarre body shape when compared to other members of Apocrita. I can't think of any particular advantage to this shape or what selective pressure would give rise to it.
