I have been hesitant to get involved in running negative ads or doing wholly negative pieces like this, although I've happily engaged in policy discussions within the debate. But something a senior member of Solidarity said today requires response. This required a response because it is an attack on the devolved institutions and the very concept of devolution.
In Holyrood earlier today, the SNP leader suggested that if Solidarity gets enough votes, he will ignore the Scottish Parliament and devolve Welfare against the expressed will of the elected Scottish Parliament, who voted today against devolving welfare. If you believe in democracy, this should worry you. If you believe in devolution as Coalition! does, this should worry you.
Many arguments have been made regarding the constitutionality of the referendum. As I have repeatedly argued the referendum did not follow proper procedure, was not sanctioned by Westminster and was boycotted by a large section of civil society. Not to mention since, election after election the Scottish people have voted for parties who oppose its devolution. I can agree to disagree on Solidarity on that one and move on knowing we both aired our view. However Solidarity have gone further today. Because what they are saying is even though the Scottish Parliament, those elected by the people just a few short weeks ago, have said something, politicians in Westminster will override that. They will ignore the Scottish Parliament. They will vote to disregard it.
Let's take this on a similar path. What if the Scottish Parliament voted against reserving powers over the NHS from Holyrood back to Westminster, but a future anti-devolution party, who had secured a majority through MPs in England, will reserve it anyway. Every single one of us would be fuming right now. I'd be on the streets protesting alongside the SNP Leader I am sure. This is no different.
Solidarity's plan, to use English MPs to override the Scottish Parliament is not just an attack on Scotland, but an attack on devolution and the devolved institutions itself and this should motivate people from across the political spectrum, no matter their politics, to speak out.

A lot of people have wondered what the End really was, so the following is my lengthy take on it.
However, before I begin, I just want to say that this has quickly become my favorite mod for CK2, but possibly even one of the best games I've ever played. The world atmosphere is just so unique, and I want to congratulate the mod makers on forming such a beautiful rich environment. This little essay sprang out of my many thoughts and imaginations which came up as I played. Like many others who play and make this amazing mod, I love to world-build, so interpreting and understanding this environment is one of my favorite parts of After the End, simply because its such a cool topic. This writing is partly just to organize my many various thoughts, but hopefully you all will find it interesting. It’s also sort of a love letter to this awesome mod, especially the last two paragraphs. And, if all the evidence gets a bit much, scroll down to the mid-bottom for the final hypothesis. Playing through the mod, over and over again we see how the Event, or the End, is mentioned. Conjecturing as to what the Event was is something that many scholars participate in, and even rulers don't understand it. Being outsiders to this post-apocalyptic environment, we can't know for sure what happened, and the creators of After the End have intentionally left it this way, something that I definitely agree with. However, using our handy knowledge of the early Third Millennium, we can conjecture with much better accuracy than the post-Event scholars as to what happened.
First of all, the timing of the End is something that we can actually determine with some estimation. At the very earliest, including the MCU Easter Egg, the Event occurred in the early 2010's. The CN Tower was completed in 1976, and the Luxor Pyramid in Las Vegas was finished in 1993, so it had to be past the mid-1990s. Some may date it as happening in accordance with a disastrous Y2K, but I find this a bit too memey to be realistic. Thus, taking into account the MCU being a cultural influence on the upper Midwest and the development of a violent Faux-Norse culture in the upper Midwest, the End must have occurred in the 21st century.

As someone who lives in one of the once North East Labour strongholds that just flipped, it's pretty clear to me that a lot of people from the area feel that the policies of all the major parties are aimed squarely at London and the South. Whether this is true or not is irrelevant to people feeling that way. The only way that this could change IMO is by pushing strongly what specifically the Labour party will do for the North. This means taking into account the views of Northerners and choosing more MPs who are clear advocates for Northern voters.
Another obstacle to this is that every time I've mentioned how Labour want to help people in the North to people from the North East, their reply is that all Labour mean is Manchester and Liverpool and that any funding for the North never seems to take into account that the North extends 200 miles past there.
Perhaps a larger focus on the powers of Labour North, with a higher profile Labour North leader in the shadow cabinet and a manifesto that is heavily focused and pushed in this area would help with this. Maybe a large Labour North office somewhere like Newcastle which only focuses on issues specific to Northern constituencies.
This would allow the party to focus on both the issues of its new supporters made up of young uni students, as well as still take into account the much needed support of working class Northern voters.
Recently I've been fascinated by Jesse Enkamp's Karate Nerd in China series. Recently I've seen the videos where you can see some interviews with a master of Five Ancestor Fist in Fujian China. After seeing how he moves, the school, the training methods, and how similar it is to karate as it's ancestor, I am quite impressed and fascinated, and went down the Youtube rabbit hole to nerd out about this specific CMA.

If you look at the vids, you can see the training is pretty decent, he moves REALLY well, and while I don't have much knowledge about weapons (this is the second vid), the way he explains and talks about everything has a real logical reasoning behind it. Check out about 4 minutes (3 minutes if you wanna hear about stances and stuff) in in the first video, he basically says that the way Wing Chun practitioners stand with their rigid stance is "not useful". He insteads advocate a neutral, stable stance, rather than too low or too high, rather similar to how most modern martial artist would stand.
I am from Malaysia, we have a very sizable Chinese population, found a lineage of the same style near me, and honestly, it just seems like any other magical CMA explanation about various things and I found it disappointing. You can check out some vids (this is in very Malaysian accented English):

This master focuses on supposedly the "internal" aspects of things.
I myself have trained MMA for 5 years, now primarily does capoeira, and am of Chinese descent. Seeing how the CMA evolves is not just about martial arts but also about culture, and it's really interesting to see how things change in a rather short time, and how different schools of CMA teaching the same style can be RADICALLY different in approach and dare I say, effectiveness.
You'll notice the differing tones of approaching issues as well. The first one just seems much more honest and more.. legit? as someone with experience in martial arts, that's what I personally feel, while the second one seems rather... mythical.

Everyone is offended by everything nowadays. It's a sad western world full of triggered, racist, sexist, hypocritical crybabies and overemphasized political correctness.

I read a post stating something along the lines of: Men are just offended by the truth feminists are speaking up for and radical feminism isn't a thing. So I thought, isn't feminism by that logic just a bunch of women getting offended at what some men do then and therefore "toxic masculinity" or "mensplaining" is not real?
