A list of puns related to "Violence Against Men"
Hey Bros
There's a thread running where there's discussion around violence against women, and what Bros can do to help address that issue.
In that thread there's also some discussion about violence against men, and some feel that's derailing the conversation, so let's have that conversation separately.
I'm in the UK at the moment, and I imagine the situation is different in other countries.
These are my impressions of some key factors:
Male victims generally aren't seen as newsworthy, so there isn't the same sort of coverage, and consequently there's a perception that it's not as prevalent
Most male victims are the victims of "stranger violence", perhaps assaulted on a night out
Males are more likely to be the victims of violence generally (I'm looking for recent stats to check that), but that's probably too generic to be helpful in a discussion about how to address violence
Some of this may be colored by my personal experience (physically assaulted on two occasions, by male strangers, in public)
My friends and I took simple measures to try to reduce our risks - mostly subconsciously, such as sizing up a bar/club when we entered, and keeping an eye on where each of us was.
I'd be interested to hear other's experiences, and particularly steps you take to reduce risk in different scenarios. But let's have start with general stuff maybe?
Have you been the victim of violence? Who was the perpetrator? How did it affect you then and now?
EDIT: I'm going to be offline for a while, but I'll read all the comments, and make sure everyone who contributes gets acknowledged at least.
Not that I think the pope is any kind of moral authority - this simply adds color to the ubiquitous double standards.

Imagine living in a world like this and believing society, or Western society at least, has actually become "crazy feminist" or "misandrist" because "I have to hold the door open for a girl and give her my seat on the train!!!" that literally nobody has told you or requires you to do. Or because women have greater freedom to pursue a career choice of

The common view is that whenever violence happens towards someone because of their gender, it only happens towards women. But the truth is, that not only is gendered violence against men something that happens, it is actually surprisingly common, and even more common than gendered violence against women.
I will be giving a few examples of what I'm talking about. During war times, it is common for women and girls to be shephered off, and the males to be left to die or be killed. Sometimes even the baby boys are killed. There have been several 'androcides' throughout history. Androcide meaning genocide of males.
Examples
The Anfal Campaign
" The anti-Kurdish "Anfal" campaign, mounted between February and September 1988 by the Iraqi regime of Saddam Hussein, was both genocidal and gendercidal in nature. "Battle-age" men were the primary targets of Anfal, according to Human Rights Watch/Middle East (hereafter, HRW/ME). The organization writes in its book Iraq's Crime of Genocide: "Throughout Iraqi Kurdistan, although women and children vanished in certain clearly defined areas, adult males who were captured disappeared en masse. ... It is apparent that a principal purpose of Anfal was to exterminate all adult males of military service age captured in rural Iraqi Kurdistan" (pp. 96, 170). Only a handful survived the execution squads."
One Barzani woman described the roundup of the menfolk: "Before dawn, as people were getting dressed and ready to go to work, all the soldiers charged through the camp [Qushtapa]. They captured the men walking on the street and even took an old man who was mentally deranged and was usually left tied up. They took the preacher who went to the mosque to call for prayers. They were breaking down doors and entering the houses searching for our men. They looked inside the chicken coops, water tanks, refrigerators, everywhere, and took all the men over the age of thirteen. The women cried and clutched the Qur'an [Koran] and begged the soldiers not to take their men away." In 1993, Saddam Hussein strongly hinted at the final fate of the Barzani men: "They betrayed the country and they betrayed the covenant, and we meted out a stern punishment to them, and they went to hell." As Human Rights Watch noted, "In many respects, the 1983 Barzani operation foreshadowed t

I have two things to say about this:
Violence against men isn't violence. It's justice.
Hatred of men isn't misandry. It's JUSTICE.
Seeing the picture here?
We need to normalize the understanding that violence against men is NOT violence, it's completely justified JUSTICE.
Since every man spends 24 hours a day oppressing and doing ACTUAL violence to qweens, this should be pretty simple to understand.
So no, scrotes, this post does NOT promote violence. Violence against men does not exist. Just like misandry does not exist.
This post is about JUSTICE for WOMEN. AT LAST.
Italian woman pressed charges against her violent rapist boyfriend and the district attorney (woman) asked for the dismissal of the case because
>"Vincere quel minimo di resistenza che ogni donna, nel corso di una relazione stabile e duratura, nella stanchezza delle incombenze quotidiane,Β tende a esercitare quando un marito tenta un approccio sessuale. Sono fatti carnali che devono essere ridimensionati nella loro portata"
>
>[translation: In a stable and longlasting relationship it's natural for the man to win over the woman slightly resisting because of her tiredness to the man approaching her sexually. It's just carnal facts that have to be downsized to their real meaning]
The man is also under investigation for pointing a knife at her throat during a conversation about femicides and family violences shouting "I will be on the news some day". The district attorney had an answer to this as well claiming it was just a bad joke.

I'm speaking from an American's perspective and experience. So if it already is in your country I applaud the progress. Also it's obviously serious in a legal sense, but this is different in a societal sense.
