A list of puns related to "Unremembered"
Short snippet I found re-reading Unremembered Empire, and thought it reflected what people here think:
>Guilliman glanced sideways at his expressionless brother.
>
>"Have you interrogated him? Have you rooted out the cause of this treason?"
>
>"Have you?" asked the Lion. "In your wars against Angron and Lorgar, have you identified their argument?"
>
>"It is the warp," replied Guilliman. "It is an infection, a pollution of the soul. On Nuceria, the horrors I saw heaped upon Angron by one he considered a comrade... Our brothers, even the Lupercal, have not turned against us. They have been turned."
Even Guilliman feels bad for Angron. Thanks Lorgar
And itβs said that Blood Angels have a propensity towards golden hair hair because his gene seed.
Now to be fair, Iβve kinda skipped around in the Horus Hersey books but I feel like Iβve. Issued something.
tw: sexual abuse
I forgot about very graphic instances of childhood sexual abuse in my life until only 3 months ago. Much of the abuse happened when I was 5-6 and again when I was 10-13, both by two specific family members. I have told my therapist this but I have not told her the details. I think it's been jarring to remember events that have been blocked out of my brain for most of my life. Ever since I moved far away from my home state, many more memories have come flooding back (which makes sense to me because i'm finally in a safe place).
One abuser is my severely mentally ill parent and another passed away about ten years ago. The only people I have told are my ex-boyfriend who I consider an extremely close friend, and my therapist.
I never am able to speak about the details of the abuse without having a physical reaction. I can talk about the feelings associated with it, but I Have been unable to verbalize what actually happened to me. I want to get to a point where I can talk about it, but I don't know how to ever feel safe sharing this information with ANYONE. Am I supposed to give details? Sometimes it feels like if I just say "I was abused" people will not take it seriously. The details are horrific. And I'm constantly scared, and continue to isolate and shut down like I did when I was a child.
I want to. be able to tell my friends and talk to them about it, but I never want to accidentally trigger someone, and honestly, I don't think my friends are equipped to handle such heavy topics. But at the same time, I've been suffering in complete silence for most of my life.
I guess my questions are: How do I cope with these memories coming back like 15 years later? Do I tell anyone, or do I keep it to myself because a bad reaction is worse than none? Will it help me heal if I can verbalize what happened to me?
I've just finished the unremembered empire book. In it John grammaticus was tricked to believe that if he stabbed vulkan with the fulgerite spear vulkan would be cured from his madness. He does so and they both seemingly expire. Please tell me it's not the final death for vulkan. He was muh dood!
I need chapter 2; Death, burial, and non-burial in the ancient Near East

I have a history of not being able to tolerate others being mad or frustrated with things when around me. It has always made me feel scared and anxious to be around someone who was actively frustrated or mad. I didn't understand why until the other day and still don't really know, but I have a better idea now.
My fiancΓ©e was trying to find something and was rummaging around looking for it. He was definitely frustrated and mad as it was computer issues we were having. For some reason, the way he was acting had me getting some severe anxiety symptoms and I had to step out of the house. I felt lightheaded, disconnected (I disassociate BAD when stressed), nauseous, and like my heart was racing. I came back in and we continued looking together. He even specifically said he was not upset with me just the computer. He has NEVER tried to hurt me and has always been there for me mentally and physically in every possibly way. He is also aware of some things I've gone through with my parents in the past and helps me through it.
We kept looking and eventually found what we were looking for, and I told him, "hey I need to step back outside for a bit and calm down". He said that he understands and to go ahead. I had started crying non stop silent tears, severe anxiety, like I was going to throw up, and wanted to sink into the floor. I felt so panicked and felt like I needed to leave NOW. I felt vaguely like I would be better off dead. He was really understanding and I went outside to calm down. He followed me out there after giving me a few minutes and we talked about my reaction. (I've been having a LOT of memories come back to me lately and am just trying to work through them as they come up. I'm trying to not turn them away right now.)
I don't know if it is tied to one memory or multiple. I remember my stuff being gone through but I don't remember why. I remember being yelled at when something was wrong, and slapped across the face multiple times. I remember a brief flash of her angry, cold eyes. This may not make sense, but when I tried to pinpoint the memory(ies?) I mostly have scattered images. I vividly remember the feelings though: shame, guilt, disassociated, anxiety, and like I wanted to fall through the floor and literally die. Like "anything would be better than this torture". I don't know if it makes sense but the feelings and thoughts were stronger than the memories. I told him I don't know exactly why or what set me off, but that I think it's tied to
... keep reading on reddit β‘Holy shit, these two back to back are by far the best heresy novels I've read so far, Vulkans ordeal at the hands of Kurze and ultimately choosing to spare him, and then finally confronting him again on Mcragge was some of the hypest shit I've ever read.
There have been some recent discussion on how humanity is overrepresented within Chaos forces. Got this as the potential explanation.
The idea is derived from a scene of the Emperor fighting in the webway. He is able to eliminate anything from warp with ease. Except the one daemon called Destroyer of Empires. We are explained that it's very idea is a hard counter to the Emperor/Imperium. He isn't the strongest warp creature and those much stronger than him fell to Emperors sword easily, yet he is able to wound and potentially threaten a kill even on the most powerful psycher alive if not ever due to that counter of concepts.
From this we can derive that Chaos powers are all about the context/story/origin. They are an idea taking form. You can almost think of it in terms of video games and counters. A Demon of Slaughter is a tough one due to large base of power, but the Demon called Slaughterer of Humans would completely outperform him against humanity while being generally weaker due to narrower concept. This is of course speaking very generically.
Hence since the main enemy of Chaos are humans (in addition to being most populous), Gods are forced to use and elevate a lot of humans to daemonhood to get an effective force.
At the end of Godblight a book is discovered by the historian about Sanguinius and his role as Imperial Regent of Imperium Secundus.
The story thread appears to be that Robute has a trend of elevating Blood Angels to positions of power while he works through the minutiae of bureaucracy (a power behind the leader so to speak).
A quick refresher. During the last act of the Horus Heresy Ultramar was cut off from the Imperium as a whole and Robute was worried that Terra was lost. If Terra was lost and the Emperor dead a new leader of Mankind would have to be selected. Robute was stressed and worried that if he put himself in charge it would be seen as a self promotion and too greedy. He humbly waits until his brothers Lion ElβJohnson and Sanguinius arrive on Ultramar to discuss which of the three should be in charge. Ultimately Sanguinius is chosen to rule as Imperial Regent absent of The Emperor (whoβs status at this time is unknown).
The decision is obviously controversial, but a few things are important to remember. This choice was taken by both Lion ElβJohnson and Robute agreeing that Sanguinius is more fit to rule in the Emperorβs absence. If there is any problem in setting up an interim government then logically, all three deciding parties are at fault.
Yet as any student of history will tell you, 40k or real world, history has a funny way of repeating itself.
In Devastation of Baal, Dante is elevated to the leader of the Imperium Nihlus by (and under) Robute. A Blood Angel elevated above every other human in Imperium Nihlus except the Primarch.
Now I know there may be a rewrite of Devastation of Baal coming since the timeline has changed, but if the decision to promote Dante stands do you believe this tracks with Rotigusβ plan?
Personally I find the whole βImperium Secundus was a plot to secede from the main Imperiumβ angle a bit hard to buy. Especially since the Blood Angels navigated the warp and made their way back to Terra to fight at the final days of the HH and Sanguinius was titled Regent, much like Robute is now.
Does anyone have any thoughts about the βdecayβ Rotigus is attempting to spread in Ultramar? Or do you think itβs going to need a pretty substantial reach to make sense? Or will it just be βyou doubt the primarch now I can make you fall to chaosβ weak style of writing im worried it will be?

Context: After a mean fight with the Night Lords and Konrad, Guilliman and the Lion are teleported to Sotha thanks to Dantioch activating the Pharos. For a moment, Guilliman contemplates being a farmer with a simpler life.
> The sun came up fast. It was bright and warming. He watched it glinting off the waters of the bay. > > He tried to relax. > > The farm workers had started their toil early, wandering up the mountain slopes from the settlement below before sunrise, their scythes across their shoulders. He could hear them, as he had heard them for the last two hours, taking their blades to the grasses that threatened to choke Sothaβs black halls, laughing, chatting. > > He could smell the rich scent of cut stalks filling the early morning air. > > Guilliman sat down on the grassy promontory, the upper slope of Mount Pharos. He wiped a hand across his brow. > > Sotha was a good world, a peaceful place. All of the forces and influences that insisted he return to Macragge were somehow softened here in this summer light. Guilliman, to his shame, realised how much he craved this peace. Sotha was like a mythical Eden. For an irrational moment, Roboute Guilliman willed Dantioch to fail in his efforts to re-tune the Pharos, and wished never to return. A part of him knew that he could live out his days on Sotha in utter contentment, barebacked and tanned in the sunlight, careless, mowing the grasses with his scythe, season in and season out. > > It was just a dream. Such simple, pastoral destinies did not lie in store for beings like Roboute Guilliman. Fate held, for him, a future of duty and responsibility, very different from that which might await an honest agri-worker. No common farmer would play a role in the final battle against Horus. > > He heard a heavy tread crunching towards him and looked up. > > βMy lord,β Sergeant Arkus said, saluting. ... keep reading on reddit β‘The first chapter of The Unremembered Empire begins by describing phantom sounds haunting Macragge for several nights. They're a variety of sounds manifesting across the entire city of Magna Macragge Civitas, with the chief similarities being the lack of any possible source, impossible echoes, and no warp effects.
> The apparitions appeared only after nightfall. Footsteps were heard in empty corridors where no one walked; voices mumbled from inside block-cut walls or the roots of staircases; sometimes the sound of hasty, running feet rushed down deserted colonnades; once, an odd and mournful laugh was heard echoing through an odeon hall; most often came the aching melody of a bowed string instrument, playing in some cavernous place of eternal echoes.
Shortly afterward, it's revealed that they're caused by Dantioch tuning the Pharos device, which explains the lack of any warp effects and possibly the echoes (given that Primary Location Alpha is a large chamber, but is made of sound-absorbing blackstone), but it doesn't actually explain their source, or why they only manifest at night. In particular I was wondering about the string instrument bit, since the other sounds can be handwaved as made by the various people within the Pharos, but there's no explanation of who's playing the instrument.
I know the Pharos isn't strictly bound to linear time, if The Heart of the Pharos describes someone perceiving the approach of the Tyranids before they're even alerted to life in the Milky Way in Pharos, but there's still no mention of what could have caused it elsewhere in the book or series.

I shall rely on your collective knowledge of EU4, as it seems I cannot use google.
Played an unmodded MP campaign as Sweden a few months back, won independence from Danes, allied and RM Muscovy, which supported me. A few years later, both my ruler and heir die in a month, so I fell PU under Muscovy. Then an event fired which I have yet to be seen in 2000 hours (granted, not much of it was as a vassal or junior partner), giving me the option to change my primary culture to Muscovite at the cost of 3 stab, allowing me to actually form Russia. There was another option, but I do not remember what.
Does anyone know the name of this event? Seems wiki is not helpful in this case.
Anyone have a movie they watched as a child that they have no idea what that movie is now as an adult? Maybe only certain fragments have stayed with you?
Recently finished Unremembered Empire. I know a lot of a Primarchs (and astartes for that matter) prowess comes from their armor and Vulkan here was basically naked, but the perpetual dude just kinda blew his head appart? Everywere we argue about weapons that could kill a primarch and Athame this and Talon of Horus that, but had Vulkan not been a perpetual he'd be dead at the hands of a regular human (Perperual himself as well yes but no bearing on his power)
I don't know I must be missing something, maybe eldar weaponry is stronger, and Vulkan was kinda out of his mind at the time?
Context Konrad Curze has sneaked on to Ultramar during the Imperium Secundus plot thread where Roboute tried to set up a second smaller empire during the Heresy. At this point Konrad believes he has killed Robourte and the Lion with the Pharos device through they just been teleported. In this scene Konrad gets through the Pack of Space Wolves guarding Euten and tells her he killed her son. And seems low key envious he didnβt have a mom.
>As the little emperor he pretends to be, he does so chronicle himself. I have heard of you. Tarasha Euten, Chamberlain Principal, and to all intents a mother to him. A mother.β Curze sighed. βThanks to the genius of my father, my kind does not enjoy the luxury of mothers. You are rare. You are a rare and obscene thing, you ragged witch. I wish Roboute had been alive to suffer the damage of your death.β Euten rose to her full height and looked the monster in the eye. βGo to hell, you bastard,β she said. Curze drew back his claws.
I know that when people look back at the movies that have been nominated for best picture, there are some that are less remembered than others. Many people regard 1999 as an incredible year for movies, but Iβve never really heard people say their favorite movie from that year was The Cider House Rules, despite its BP nomination and 2 award wins. I want to know what you think. What are some BP nominees that nobody ever talks about? It could be either underrated ones you feel deserved more attention, or inadequate movies you feel didnβt deserve itβs best picture nomination.
I watched a video from Winters seo and he said that after the imperious secundus arc there aren't any good books left to read... Do you agree? Im thinking about skipping a lot of books and jumping to the solar war after the ES arc. What books after ES do you think are worth reading and skipping? Thanks in advance!
I haven't read some of the books before the whole Secundus arc so I dont know how did Konrad end up in the Lion's ship
Ever wondered how a fully power-armoured warrior in the 31st Millenium leaves a DNA signature for a document? Have no worries, because Dan Abnett has thought of it too.
> An aide stepped to Guillimanβs side, and presented him with a gene-reader data-slate
>
> βYour authority to open airspace, my lord?β the aide bowed.
>
>βGiven,β Guilliman said. He took the slate and kissed the screen. Such ultimate authorities required a direct gene-sample, and it was often too cumbersome for a fully plated warrior to remove a power fist or gauntlet to affect a dermal read. A kiss had become the expedient and understood custom. Guilliman knew that some, like First Master Phratus Auguston, preferred to spit on slates rather than kiss them. It had the same effect, but it lacked humility.
Context: The First Legion has just arrived at Macragge and need docking permission.
Iβm looking for modernish (2000 or later) music that sounds like it could have been from the 80s (especially the new wave or post-punk sound). Examples would be anything by Nation of Language or some of The Strokes later stuff. I really love 80s influenced music and Iβm looking for more of it!
I've read about 60% of 'Unremembered Empire' so far. I've skipped HH books 6,8,9,10,11,13,16,17,20,22,25,26
I'm wondering if there are books that describe the feud between the Night Lords and the Dark Angels, or any more of the back story behind the events of Unremembered Empire. This is my first time reading about the Lion, Curze and Vulkan beyond them just being mentioned.
I skipped 'Vulkan Lives' which clearly has a lot to do with Curze and how Vulkan got so crazy. There seems to be a lot of mentioned of the war on 'Thramas'. Also are there any HH books up until this point that are just focused on the Night Lords, or is 'Unremembered Empire' our first introduction to Curze?
Any recommended reading would be greatly appreciated.
>!Throughout Vulkan Lives, Curze is intent on killing Vulkan. When he realizes he canβt because Vulkan is a purpetual, Curze decides to break his spirit instead. Months of horrible physical and mental torture almost do the job. The final torture was Vulkan wandering through a labyrinth trying to get to his hammer and save some surviving space marines, The author went to great lengths to hint there is more to Vulkanβs weapon than being a fancy hammer. Vulkan finds his hammer, fights Curze nearly killing him and uses his hammer to teleport out...right into the upper atmosphere of Macragge. Vulkan basically goes through re-entry naked and is torched to a crisp before slamming through several floors of a building at meteorite speeds.!<
The thing thatβs bothering me...did Curze do this on purpose? Was this supposed to be Curzeβs final insult to Vulkan? >!Sabotaging his hammer to mis-teleport him in a final attempt to either break him or kill him?!<
I wish to share a surpsingly wholesome exchange between the Ultramarines and Guilliman. I love when legionares are written with a touch of humanity and self-criticism.
βMy lord,β Sergeant Arkus said, saluting. He was carrying his companyβs standard.
βAt ease, Arkus,β Guilliman told the Ultramarine. Arkusβs armour glinted in the sunlight. βYouβre trying too hard,β he added.
βMy lord?β
βWhen I arrived last night, your armour was in perfectly respectable condition, as was the plate of the other battle-brothers in your company. I remember these things. This morning, youβve buffed your plate to the point of insanity.β
βMy primarch is here,β Arkus said, offended. βA surprise inspection of this post. What else would I do?β
Guilliman got up and faced him. βIβm sorry, Arkus. My remark was petty and uncalled for. Your armour code is perfect.β
Arkus nodded, and rested the base of the standard on the ground. βMy lord,β he said. βI am an Ultramarine. Trying too hard is the entire point of us, isnβt it?β
Guilliman smiled and saluted Arkus.'
Edit: reason for posting
Guilliman has been teleported to a remote outpost in Ultramar and was enjoying a private moment appreciating the world he is on, when the garrison commander approaches him.
>He heard a heavy tread crunching towards him and looked up.
> 'My lord,' Sergeant Arkus said, saluting. He was carrying his company's standard.
>'At ease, Arkus,' Guilliman told the Untramarine. Arkus's armour glinted in the sunlight.
>'You're trying too hard,' he added.
>'My lord?'
>When I arrived last night, your armour was in perfectly respectable condition, as was the plate of the other battle-brothers in your company. I remember these things. This morning, you've buffed your plate to the point of insanity.'
>'My Primarch is here,' Arkus said, offended. 'A surprise inspection of this post. What else would I do?'
>'I'm sorry , Arkus. My remark was petty and uncalled for. Your amrour code is perfect.'
>Arkus nodded, and rested the base of the company standard on the ground.
>'My lord,' he said, 'I am an Ultramarine. Trying too hard is the entire point of us, isn't it?'
A nice meta-moment. All the more so, because it's in a direct statement to his Primarch.
